I have 16GB too and have it installed on an SSD as well, plus performance tended to be shit from launch rather than after a while or something. Shouldn't they just completely cull from any kind of interaction, including instruments data, anything that happens say, some KM away from the given player, so it doesn't affect them? And maybe also do it for situations where you're indoor, you can't interact with what's happening outside so cull everything at a much closer distance (so you can still see close by shit from the windows as that's cool) and so on.

I have to wonder if this game would be better served as single player with instanced co-op/pvp based on missions/specific areas rather than an attempt at a full MMO-like thing, even Eve struggles with many players at once and resorts to both lag and slow motion play, I just don't see how an action based game like this with all the simulations and calculations can work with too many players but whatever, I'm mostly in it for Squadron 42 myself (hope DLC and custom missions will be possible on that for post-story play). Maybe at least make solo play an option like Elite does it though, but if that would alter game parameters too much not allow interplay between offline/online enabled characters at all, make it separate.
I always said I'd be plenty happy just to get Arma in Space, provided we get a Zeus type equivalent.

I was actually surprised at the changes to the hangar module, though they may have been done in earlier patches. I have to replace all my stuff, and my limited amount of items to place in all of the open spaces I have is kinda depressing me. Kinda wish there was a way to toggle in and out of hangar decoration mode.

Also I can't place my fish in my aquarium, even though they show up in the "misc" category when clicking the back of my freelancer.

In the PU, I failed all my missions because I was having trouble figuring out how to quantum travel. It is pretty finicky. Then I realize that the game simply didn't allow me to QT down to Vela even though my mission was there. I couldn't set surface locations as my destination. I guess I could have just gone the manual way as they were only 400 km or so away though it would have taken me 10 or 20 minutes maybe.

I also had a mission to pick up cargo from a wrecked ship. I misjudged the distance my ship was at but managed to finally lug the thing back to my ship. I get to Port Olisar and land (I can't see if it tells you a specific landing pad to go to) and leave my ship forgetting the cargo. I run back to my ship but hear something about ship storage and then my ship disappears. The mission just failed immediately.

I can definitely land better in Elite than here. I always end up going to fast.

The hanger should be persistent now. I can't say specifically as I don't go into that mode much. I am going to try as well to see what is up with my aquarium and fishes.

They are making sure many things are game like but they really keep the numbers aligned and nudge them slightly. This is important because quantum travel is 0.2c. Rounded up is 60 million meters per second iirc. That is most likely the main reason you don't enter quantum in atmosphere because at least in space for the short jumps you know your momentum wont slam you into a large planetary object after a few milliseconds. So even if a computer is doing this, chances are your ship won't be able to defeat the gravity of planet/moon in time without either hitting the object or turning squishy humans inside ship into jelly.

Remember next time to bring delivery item for mission with you off ship. Cargo trading only needs kiosk so you don't have to worry about that.

And if you put down landing gear it changes speed of your ship and allows you to slow down and align better on approach.

Played the 3.0 for the first time yesterday. It runs ok on my computer (i5, 16Go RAM, RX480 8Go), I got something like 20 - 30fps with some dips lower.
It was already way more stable than the last time I played 2.6. No crash, no long freeze and more importantly no clipping thru my ship :p
I really like the new Cutlass, this ship just seems right, I'm glad I upgraded from the avenger to this one. I just have a little bug with it: I can't open or close the rear and the side doors. So I just fly with the rear door open constantly.
I tried arena commander and the framerate is great there ! (which is not really a surprise I guess)

Overall I'm really confident in the direction it's taking. At the moment my biggest grips are the online framerate and the UI.

Yeah, I did a bit better this time. Better than the other guy I saw landing and taking off.

Still haven't found one of those kiosks. I wanted to buy and sell stuff at either Shubin on Daymare or Arc Mining on Vela but Arc didn't seem to have anything to interact with.

Tried it again today, performance is still not good, BUT it's only at the start of the game from what I can tell, after 15 or so min it balances out...then i go into space and that never ends well

You actually need to close them at the switches on the walls. They have buttons to close.
Yes and these buttons didn't work for me yesterday. I have the option to close the door in interact mode but I just can't click on it. This bug didn't happen in arena commander, so that's weird. I'll try again tomorrow.

Noted. Is there any fix for the initial 15min performance though? It even effects the FPS mode

New server basically. Try out Arena Commander on solo free flight, that will give you the baseline on your system performance in engine. There is a lot of useless stuff being synced between players. When I'm in Olisar I constantly get shopkeeper subtitles popping up because some else on the other side of the station walks into a shop/drops off a package/ buys something.

I just purchased and upgrade for my Mustang Alpha to an Avenger Titan. Once you buy the upgrade, will it automatically register in game, or is there something that you need to do in game for your upgrade to be registered?

When you first buy a ship upgrade, it'll show as an unused upgrade in the hangar section of your account on the web site, separately from the Mustang. The upgrade needs to be applied there before it actually changes the ship you see in the package. Once that's done, it'll carry over to the game automatically and you should see it on the next login.

What Raticus79 said.

Also, The Avenger Titan is a nice upgrade from the mustang, you can actually kill things in it and store cargo, but getting stuff into the back while EVA'ing is very glitchy. Half the time I get stuck in the bay door and have to re-spawn. It makes sense that they are planning on making it bigger.

What is the install size for the game now?

Also how do you tell what you can do? As in these "packages"?

What can I not do/can do?

It is in OP

Basics for new players
This quick start video by STLYoungblood is a good place to start.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hStCa-ugtu0
This patch includes a hint system for new players.

The base game package is $45 for Star Citizen (the MMO) and you can add Squadron 42 (the single player campaign) for another $15.
More detail here: Getting Started

My RSI folder is about 39.3 GB. Basically if you look in your items for you package you can see what you can do. Star Citizen is what this thread is about, squadron 42 is the single player campaign which they just showed a vertical slice of.

I am asking because I paid no where near that amount. Not even over 15 bucks so it is a bit confusing as to what modules I own.

I've just played in a server with good performance (Due to the timezone a lot of people in EU are spleeping after all :P) so I had the chanche to try the game with an almost good frame rate, 40-60 FPS.
It was astonishing. What they've already achieved in terms of complexity, interaction and world building is far far beyond what I've seen in thousand of hours in Elite. I'm really excited to see what the 2018 will be for SC because damn,..they're building a colossal, really, and they're achieving what their initial view was in terms of scale.
I'm amazed

I got to play for about 30 minutes today. The frame rate was surprisingly good. I got between 25-30 fps even in busy areas.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the controls.

My starmap glitched when I was flying in my avenger. I also couldn't figure out how to find the derelict ship on the starmap, so I couldn't quantum travel to it. I did get to check it daymar for a bit though!

I do not think it is a performance issue on my end; I have a 6700k, titan x pascal, and 32 gigs of ram on a SSD. Also do not think its a graphics card issue either, never had anything like that happen before.

The most I can get is 20 frames per second on a build thats a few years old, if the servers are good, I'll get a good frametime and I can play the game. There are fundamental issues wrong with performance and anyone saying; "well I have good FPS so it must be you." is handwaving legitimate criticism that even Chris Roberts himself felt he needed to acknowledge and promise would be fixed as soon as possible and would be the focus.

Today's games I got 25fps avg but celin's textures didn't load it was just a giant pixelated moon then at the surface it was a grey mess and once at grim everything was so blurry so I had to stop.

Also the mobi glass is so hard to look at and so is the radar on the ship. I turned off the engines like 3 times trying to qt. And last can I qt to mission locations?

Textures sometimes mess up with streaming, bugs. It's better to just use the mobiglass starmap than the ship radars since the ship radar is even worse in terms of contrast. You can't QT to mission locations, you can only QT to planets/asteroids/stations and orbital markers, and then fly to a mission area normally.

Where do you find the mission givers?

Apparently you need to do the generic missions to gain reputation, and only when you have the right reputation will you get to interact with the mission givers.

By the name of your package, it looks like you have everything you need to play Star Citizen.

You can't QT to mission locations, you can only QT to planets/asteroids/stations and orbital markers, and then fly to a mission area normally. Sadly, the only way to realize if your mission is on the other side of the moon is by using the orbital markers around the moon and look to see which one is closet and then fly down too it. Mission locations are shown on the HUD, if you don't see a marker then the quest is bugged and you should abandon it. Controls are hard to get used too, I've made a bunch of my own keybindings at this point.

Doesn't matter how much it cost. It could even be gifted. Like I said if you look in the package it shows you what comes with it. Since you posted the line that states "Contains:Aurora MR and 6 items" click on blue triangle to right of it and it should show you contents. Contents page itemizes what you have and probably looks like this.......

Every mode mentioned in OP is apart of the "Star Citizen Digital Download" segment. You would only be missing access to PU if you had Squadron 42 only.

I didn't say that... got your quotes mixed up?

It was weird coming into a thread to see who quoted me and seeing things I never wrote mention PC specs I've never had.

I had a feeling that was what OM was all about. Are they closer than warping directly to a planet? It took forever to get down to Vela after warping to it. Levh-whatever (the one with opening hangar doors and the bazaar) took barely any time to fly down too.

I used the multi-quote to answer multiple people's questions instead of spamming the thread with reply after reply.

OMs are more about getting around (literally around in a circle) the moon. Let's say you're looking to go to a mission site, you look down at a planet and you see it's 600 KM down to the left, you look to your left and you see an OM is 400 KM to the left, you quantum jump to it and now you're closer to the mission site, but you still need to fly down to it.

Getting down to Levski is easier because Delamar is an asteroid, not a moon, so the distant is much smaller from space to ground. Yela being a moon, the space is further out.

What I did originally was warp to the planet and then flew 400+ km down to the mission. If the OM can shave a chunk of that distance off, that's great.

Well, I gave the client a spin.
Arena Commander is the most fluid, nicest and most amazing visual experience the game has had so far in dogfighting. It was a really good show after what Iremembered from 2.6.3. Now I want to play it with really big ships.
The live server was... another story. I was amazed by the scale, and the immersion of just walking around, ordering up my freelancer, going to Levski.... and not being able to land due to all pads being full. Even after waiting like 10 minutes. They gotta figure something out for that.
I'll haul my diamonds back to Olisar whenever I get the feat of retrieving my freelancer done.

The novelty of flying down to the moon locations wears off quick. They need to implement a better way; it just takes too long at the moment.

I actually like it this way. Gives you time to actually talk with people riding with you or other pilots. I also use this time to change my weapons and armor while I'm dropping.

Also, don't forget that these are just tiny moons. The planets will be much larger along with the 10-20 minute travel times in between each planet. We just don't have all the mechanics in play yet. We are going to have repair and maintenance on these ships, along with basic survival for our character like eating and drinking.

In general, it should not take you more than a couple minutes to get to an outpost, 5 minutes at most. Levski should be your quickest. I've landed there within a couple minutes of leaving Olisar.

I think adding more quantum points around the moons/planets would work well. Anything over 150-200km gets tedious.

At least I can surf the net while I make the approach

I'm missing some UEC bought items as well as some hangar rewards.
Strangely enough some used to show up in earlier builds, but disappeared in this one.
Hope they fix it too, my Aurora needs the extra firepower.

Wonder if it's related to the constant spawning in of ships as empty husks with no weapons or components that keeps happening.

Shame it makes my SH pretty useless. With the weapon power creep the 4xS2, 2xS1 is a pittance in the firepower department. Hell, my Avenger with 2xS2 and 1 S3 has more firepower than a dedicated fighter twice it's worth.

Yeah. I get that they don't want anything instanced but.... They should totally instance landing pads.

Quick trick for this for the landing pad. Just land outside Levski. Land at the pads for land vehicles and walk in from the top. Extremely easy for smaller ships. Can do it with a starfarer too, but will scratch the paint on a lightpole or something.

My point is that they shouldn't be out in the open in the first place.
I suspect that they'll do instancing in high traffic areas, and then work out how to do player management in less busy areas.

One should bear in mind that you can land anywhere and get into levski overland. Also if you don't have a lot of cargo, or it is high value and low volume, you can carry it in.

Levski currently is a busy location, but in lore it is actually a backwater that will be in a different location.

Can't boot the game anymore, either it crashes instantly, either it gets stuck on a black screen. Tried dozens of time to no avail. It was fine before.

This build is weird. Checked the files, reinstalled it, nothing works.

So is the Reliant super bugged right now? Upgraded my Aurora for a Reliant and somehow it temp freed up the inventory bug and was able to see my S3 weapons. Changed the end cap for a S3 and decided to putz to Levski for a cargo run back to Olisar. I got not HUD elements on the ship in flight, no speed indicator or or anything. While a neat view I got nothing for telemetry besides the MFDs.

Made it Levski and loaded up spending the money I had on cargo and take off, clear the hangar and raise gear to burn out to high orbit......*NOPE* Server decides to warp me back to the landing pad ship clipping the lower fin in the ground. Finagle it a bit and wing breaks off and leaves the ship without power to take off. Stuck and without a repair at port option I try to summon another ship and recall the Reliant.... No dice, still damaged. End up losing the cargo, and back to pennilessness.

On a side note the I think the inventory issue is some mass replication thing happening. Replaced the Reliant wing cap one and now have 6 of those in inventory and not attached to anything. And have some two dozen S3 gimbals, M4As and 227 repeaters.
