Hammerwatch and Romancing Saga 2 look like good purchases there. Saw the trailer for Ultimate Chicken Horse and was like: huh? lol
Looks like a game to play while drunk with friends.

Played through five games recently:

Minecraft Season 2: 3/5
Batman Season 2: 3.5/5
Guardians of the Galaxy: 4/5
Life Is Strange Before the Storm: 4.5/5
Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery: 2/5

Minecraft Season 2
feels just like the first one - light-hearted Telltale game with cute/blocky visuals. I think the whole season is nothing great or spectacular, just good/okay. Episode 3 was the only great episode in my opinion, partly because I liked the setting/premise of that specific episode, and its music was head and shoulders above the soundtrack of any other Minecraft episode I've played.

Batman Season 2 is a step below the first season. Just seems a bit more boring than I'm used to. The final episode introduced Harley Quinn who I really, really liked. She salvaged an otherwise lacklustre season for me so far.

Guardians of the Galaxy I really enjoyed. Would've rated it 4.5/5 but it was kind of crazy the number of glitches I encountered (missed achievements and broken conversations that forced met to exit/restart the game). Overall I just really love Peter Quill and the Guardians and I really enjoyed how the game chose to delve into each Guardian's backstory. Loved the music and the scenarios in this game.

Life Is Strange Before the Storm is unbelievably good. I was overcome with happiness playing through this title because my goodness, I had doubts/reservations about a team other than Dontnod tackling the Life Is Strange universe. But this new dev, Deck Nine, knocked it out of the park. Everything about this game, from the visuals, to the dialogue and music and game play scenarios, just feels perfect for a game with the Life Is Strange label attached. I would think to myself beforehand, "How is a Life Is Strange without Max Caulfield and without any time travel powers going to work?" This game didn't just work, it clicked on every conceivable level. It's not as perfect as the first game in my opinion. The first Life Is Strange was my 2015 GOTY. This game though - really scratches that itch.

What I love the most about this is (major spoilers for both Life Is Strange games)
we know what happens to Rachel, thanks to the first Life Is Strange game. The first Life Is Strange game starts with missing posters with Rachel's face on it all over Arcadia Bay. We know that Chloe had a special relationship with Rachel. We know she's been trying to find Rachel everywhere. And at the end of Episode 4 we find that Rachel has been murdered (and if I recall correctly, abused as well). I just find it really special to have an entire game (Life Is Strange Before the Storm) dedicated to Chloe and Rachel's relationship before everything went bad.

Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery was pretty bad. I wouldn't recommend it. And I love Artfix Mundi games. I was discussing this with my brother and I don't necessarily think this is due to fatigue from this genre of games. Last month Abyss Wraiths of Eden just came out from Artifex Mundi and I thought it was a solid title. Lost Grimoires 2 just had what seemed like a nonsensical story, awful voice acting for the main protagonist, and a whole bunch of new puzzle gimmicks that I thought weren't fun. Seems like every Artfiex Mundi has a little bit of that lack of polish but this took it up a notch. I recommend this as a hard skip - the only hard skip out of Artfiex Mundi's collection.

Oooh just noticed in Vert Boil's posts above that Minecraft Season 2's final episode and Life Is Strange Before the Storm's final episode are getting released.

I'm excited for that. Particularly for Life Is Strange.

Heard good things about Night in the Woods. I have $15 in MS BING Bucks that I'll use for it

Let us know how you like it bruv!

Finally got a chance to go through Abzu and Tacoma. Really enjoyed both of them.

Loved the ambiance and atmosphere of Abzu, it's a really relaxing and enjoyable experience for a large majority of the game.

I felt like Tacoma did something really special in that, while you're alone on the space station you never actually really feel alone due to the memories/data you're accessing. Fullbright did a pretty phenomenal job with that aspect of the game.

I saw Outbreak: The New Nightmare mentioned earlier in this thread. Just wanted to drop by with a playlist of clips I took on Xbox One X. The game gets a sizable performance boost on that console and it really helps even out some rough areas on a base Xbox One console. You can check them out here.

that still looks rough.

Yup, it's not perfect by any stretch. I gave it my best shot though. I'm just a solo dev w/o a budget, but I'm happy that the XB1X version hits much better highs. The Steam version should support a wide array of configurations as well.

Nice impressions bruv! I loved both games too.

If you loved Abzu I recommend Aer: Memories of Old. It's like a flying/sky version of Abzu. But definitely not as polished / good as Abzu.

Have you played Gone Home? I'm sure you'd love it given your impressions of Tacoma.

What I loved the most about Tacoma was the world building. So many hints about what it's like down on earth are scattered throughout the ship on posters, documents, brochures, etc...

I was actually really interested in Aer before it came out but the initial reviews put me off, probably until it goes on sale. It does look really nice though so i will play through it eventually for sure.

I did play Gone Home a few years ago on PC, haven't touched the Xbox version yet. I enjoyed that too but I enjoyed Tacoma so much more. Tacoma is probably one of my favorite games of 2017 and it makes me really excited to see what Fullbright does next.

I'm probably going to go through Rime next. I'm trying to knock out of a lot of the shorter adventure games in my backlog super quick. I also have The Witness sitting there too but as I understand it that game is much meatier and more time consuming.

Outbreak: The New Nightmare - 7.19$ (will rise to 9$), 9.68GB.

Outbreak bundle - 12$
(Outbreak 1&2.)

-----
Lightfield received a post release trial (60 mins, unlocks achievements.).

If anyone is interested (full disclosure I'm the dev), I have a long-play of the Xbox One version on an XB1X showing off a full scenario - Blackout (including dev commentary). Feel free to check it out here: https://youtu.be/7YPjrKvlXjs . Game receives a significant performance bump when played on an X1X console. Xbox One version is single-player only but Steam version supports 4-player co-op!

I developed these games over 2+ years as mostly a solo developer with no budget. Very excited to see the XB1 version out (and being enjoyed by lots of folks!) and excited to leave Steam Early Access hopefully on Friday! :D

I wish I had more time to post some of my thoughts. But I'm at work right now.

I played through the final episode of LIfe Is Strange Before The Storm recently - excellent conclusion, and still a 4.5/5 game. And I played through the final episode of Minecraft Season 2 - nothing special, and still a 3/5. I really enjoyed the latest Little Nightmares DLC too: The Hideaway.

Other games I've played:

Town of Light: 2/5. Nice story but dull/cumbersome controls and game play.

Black the Fall: 4.5/5. Really really good cinematic puzzle platformer. First time on XB1 I've played a game in this specific sub-genre that is as good as Inside or Limbo.

Assassin's Creed Origins: 4.5/5. Best AC game I have ever played. I won't even touch AC Rogue - can't stomach the thought of going back to old AC. The fighting and stealth in this game was fun. The protagonist was awesome. And Egypt was incredibly diverse and rich and fun to explore.

Has anyone here played any of these games on XB1?

Silence
Oddworld New N Tasty
Book of Unwritten Tales 2

Chromagun
Bulb Boy
8-bit Adventure Anthology Volume I
Wuppo
Outcast Second Contact
Your Toy
Black Mirror
Fearful Symmetry and the Cursed PRince
Circuits

I own the first three (Silence, Oddworld New N Tasty, Book of Unwritten Tales) but haven't played them, and the rest are on a "to buy" list of mine with huge "maybes" next to them.

Just want to cull down my own backlog, and I'm curious if anyone else here thinks the above games are any good.

Hey guys. I'm Canadian and I want to "gift" a game to an American. I know gifting is region locked, so what is the easiest way for me to do this? Do I need to set my console/account to USA, make sure I'm in the US store, and then gift the game?

I don't think it matters, I was gifted a game from some one in Canada and I am in the States. So you should be good to go.

Recently played through:

Aaero's 1000DaysWasted DLC: I won't rate the DLC individually. It's a nothing thing. $5 for three songs that weren't really that great. I think the main game is fantastic though and I bought this DLC just to support this indie dev. This is a really good rhythm game with some great EDM. The DLC in comparison to the main game is the opposite of substantial and compelling. Buy the game, enjoy the game, but don't expect much out of the DLC.

Super Lucky's Tale: 3/5. Fun and light-hearted - very colourful with wonderful visuals and fun platforming game play. But the game is short and shallow. Definitely worth a playthrough - it just isn't a great game.

Thimbleweed Park: 4/5. This game kicked my ass and I got really, really frustrated with the puzzles in the second half of the game, so I lowered the score slightly based off that. The game's art style, characters, story, and humour were awesome though. If I could do it again, I wish someone would've told me to play Casual Mode first (very easy mode) and then do a second playthrough on Hard (the real meaty mode with very challenging puzzles). I think that would've made me appreciate the game a lot more.

Episode 4 of Telltale's Batman Season 2: Absolutely terrible episode. I'm sick and tired of seeing Bruce Wayne in a brown leather jacket and beret. I'm sick and tired of this game's interpretation of the Joker character. Lowered my score for the whole season down to 3/5 (before going any lower I'll wait for the finale). There are some good highs any time Harley Quinn is on-screen, but some really low lows elsewhere. =/

I buy all of these no matter the quality, the first time they hit a sale price. I just really enjoy them. Dont tell anyone.

I buy them all on day one because they usually have some kind of launch day or launch week gold discount. They're just really fun to get through. There's no other developer making these kinds of hidden object puzzle games on the system. I've found pretty much all of them to be decent to good, with the exception of the most recent release (Lost Grimoires 2 - I found that one to have a distinct lack of polish and quality).

I'll definitely be getting Nightmares From The Deep 3 and Enigmatis 3. Enigmatis in particular always seemed to have the coolest premise.

Everyone should be playing Celeste.

It's definitely on my to buy list. I was going to splurge on it but I'm in the middle of a couple of games right now.

I hate to make two posts in a row but I have to echo what Oynox said. I've been playing Celeste and it is an absolutely incredible game. It's like a mix between Super Meat Boy and Metroidvania and Fez.

1) Imagine Super Meat Boy with a map system that works sort of like a metroidvania-lite. Except the gameplay involves pure puzzle platforming rather than combat like most metroidvanias.

2) And take Super Meat Boy's platforming and add a midair dash button; this adds a wonderful layer of strategy to platforming. Every level becomes a puzzle basically. Your end goal is the exit. And it's not just about making difficult well-timed jumps to get to the end. Your goal is to mix jumps with strategic uses of your dash button to get to the exit. You usually only get one dash per jump but there are clever ways to replenish your dash throughout the environment. It's really really fun to sit back and think about a level and say "Aha! If I dash at this diagonal direction here, and time my jump properly, I can just reach that little item that'll give me an extra dash and then reach the end!"

3) Then take Super Meat Boy and give it music and visuals that mirror Fez.

4) Next, take Super Meat Boy and add a heartfelt story.

I'm not intending to disparage Super Meat Boy. It is a wonderful game. I just want to best describe Celeste in the best way possible to anyone that might be on the fence. If the above sounds good, then play Celeste right away. It's such an awesome game.

It has so many great little touches. For example, when your main character is near a ledge, she balances on one foot. It's so incredibly cute because the game is full of fuzzy, blocky pixel art. So you really have to look closely to even notice that your blocky/pixelated character is balancing on one foot, but she is! And it has ingenious visual game play cues like how your hair turns blue when you don't have your dash (you normally just get one per jump). And I absolutely love how you have this 2-d game full of blocky pixel art and yet the main menu comprises of beautiful, fully 3-D modeled mountains/chalets/other environments.

Fantastic game. Highly recommended.

My advice: don't let the screenshots/stills on the XB1 storefront fool you. The game looks hideous in stills. But once you see the game in motion and hear the soundtrack kick in and start playing you'll see why this got a 10/10 from IGN and has so many people saying positive things.

Nice. But they've unfortunately increased the price in Canada. In Canada these games used to be anywhere from $10-$15 (usually with a Gold launch-week discount).

This new game has a regular price of $20 Canadian and is $16 with the Gold launch-week discount.

Well, ever since Banjo-Kazooie from NeoGAF (I believe he's Judge in this forum) recommended me the first Nightmares From The Deep game I've generally been buying every Artifex Mundi game as they come out.

I was going to wait a bit for Nightmarea From The Deep 3 but the store says it's X Enhanced. That made me immediately buy it.
