How can I reach that maze on the top right part of the map in the ocean?

It's fairly straightforward from what I remember. I got to a high point and paraglided there. You might need to use stamina buffs if you haven't upgraded your stamina a lot. Avoid going there when it's raining or about to rain.

How do you know when it's about to rain? Is there a tell? It always seems to sneak up on me.

Follow the direction of the wind/floating particles in the air.
Thanks! Gonna try it now.
But is there anything in there aside from the Master Sword? Because I'm far from powerful enough so I won't even bother yet if it's a waste of time.

If you have the normal HUD, you can see a weather wheel in the bottom right of the screen. It shows you what the current weather is, as well as the next two weather cycles. It doesn't show up if you have the Pro HUD.

There are some side quests there, and of course there's a cutscene that you've probably already seen a bit of from the trailers.

Seems I need 1 extra chunk of Stamina to reach it from the lab XD

Grrr why is the Blade Saw a giant sword? I hate big weapons in this game >=/
Anyways where can I find ancient cores? I need some for these weapons.

Oh I could never figure out what the weather icons meant. Never put much thought into it. I'm totally gonna be watching that now.

I used the Pro HUD for my playthrough so I didn't even know that was a thing until I finished the game. :P

Stamina buffs helped me out a lot at the beginning. You can probably still get there if you cook up some meals.

I got the giant ancient cores from some shrine treasure chests. I think I got the regular ancient cores from defeating Guardians. Giant ancient cores might be a rare Guardian drop, too, I think.

I've tried using the Pro but it's too limited for me. I like having that information there.

Question: The rocks with minerals in them come back right? It seems to be random what's in them too. I broke one near the tower by the military training range and got diamonds and sapphires. Then I died and when I broke it again they were amber instead. I was so bummed. They're renewable right? It keeps coming back?

Yeah they come back, which is why it's advisable to sell them if you need money. You can kind of tell what you'll get from them, but not exactly. I've noticed that ones that tend to shimmer yellow are more likely to contain precious stones. And the ones that shimmer blue always have luminous stones in them (it's more obvious at night, as these ones glow).

I think the weather system is pretty straight forward long as you look at the bottom left.
Thing is it can be a nucence at times: I was already at the fire I needed to light up the 2nd Lab but then it rained....and rained....and rained
I think I had to wait 5-10 minutes til the damn thing subsided before I started my return to the lab.
Does the Guardian next to the lab keep respawning or something?

Ooof this'll be a bit of a long grind if not wait til I can save up for that super sword and bow :P

Yeah, Guardians, as well as all non-boss enemies in the game, respawn after a Blood Moon.

I would just come back later once you have a lot more Guardian parts rather than grinding. You should be able to get a decent amount organically through playing the game.

Eh I dislike how big the world is. If I end up with enough to get them, coolios. Otherwise, wherever I'm going next better give me a sword that's stronger than 26 points =_=

As you defeat more enemies, you'll get stronger ones with better weapons that you can claim (and you should eventually get better weapons from treasure chests, too - the ones in shrines are dependent on the kind of weapons you have already found). Hopefully you get some stronger weapons soon!

I can't be arsed to look for Kokoro Seeds.
I've found a total of just 3 and I am nearing 20 hours of gameplay @_@.

Really enjoy the shrines and Divine Beast 'dungeons' though.
Boss fights are kinda easy atm, but I did rather enjoy the 2nd one I fought (fire dude).

I think I've found this Lost Woods
Is the Master Sword in there? Should I venture in there and spend an hour or two hoping to find some good stuff that'll help? My recent ventures have not been satisfying outside of a few shrines =_=

Otherwise happy new year y'all~

There's a few shrines and quests in there once you make it through the "lost" part so you'll be able to return at any point. I did it earlier today.

I was disappointed by BotW initially, but I never truly gave up on it, spending an hour or two trying to grasp the game. Not until a few days ago did it click, though. After 25hrs, I finally went to Hatano and this was basically the missing link (that and farming 4 additional hearts lol) to "get" BotW. Uhu, might make my GotY list after all, huh.

Edit: Generally not a huge fan of DLC content, but would the expansion pass make the first go-through more enjoyable, does it integrate well, or is it all end game/post game stuff?

Good to see it finally clicked with you! The DLC is content that is integrated into the game itself. That said, besides the outfits and talisman that you get from treasure chest, the core of it isn't something you'll be tackling at the start or early on in your journey, so you can wait a bit if you'd like.

If I even try to explore further the dang thing gets me lost again.
Just let me search at my own leisure finding the entrance was enough of a trial already yeesh.

I'll go back for the Master Sword later. Gonna go light up these Towers and either tackle the Birds or Gerudo next.

There's a trick to getting through the Lost Woods. That's the case in every Zelda game. It's appropriately named. :P

Something tells me whatver i get from the bird people is gonna help :v

It doesn't require any tools or weapons. It's more of an environmental puzzle. There's the sound to clue you in when you're going the right way, but also something else that you need to pay attention to. ^^ I posted the solution in a spoiler earlier on in this page if you get truly stuck.

I just found out about Eventide Island. That was probably the most fun I had with the game so far, I'm glad I've been mostly blind towards this game.

Okay after dying on literally the last jump I've had enough of Rohta Chigah shrine for a while.
The saves always dump you back at the entrance, and after like ten deaths it's not fun having to run through an entire dungeon of 1hk's again. Like, if they'd added a switch after each spike pit to cover it over or whatever I wouldn't be incandescent with rage after slipping off the supposedly climbable spike arm at the very end of the final run.

With that said, clearing the camps on 1/4 of a heart is amazingly fun. So far.

Is the Ballad DLC just new shrines? I went into it more or less blind.
Turns out bitching on Era and giving the shrine one last go was enough to get me through it and all the others in that stage. They're collectively really good.

So, I'm finally planning on buying the DLC, but I'm not sure what to do. When the game launched, me and my girlfriend put easily over 100 hours into it. All shrines, quests, dungeons etc. Thing is, we last played in June I think and I was semi-sick at the time, so I missed some portion of the game. Should I just start a new game on the new difficulty level and unlock DLC-access as I go, or do the DLC first and then start over?

Leaning towards the first personally, anyone started over for the DLC?

I'd start over, I did when DLC 2 was released (didn't play/buy DLC1 at the time)
If you want to do DLC 1 you shouldn't play master mode, it makes it horrible.

Sword trials on normal are hard but balanced
On master mode it's extremely hard to impossible if you don't manage resources perfectly or don't know about ways to cheese it big time

You're not missing out much not playing master mode really

A super easy thing to remember is to just cook like things together and it's always a very strong effect.

For example cooking nothing but Bananas or Bananas and Mighty Carp together always gives you mid-high attack effects. The more you use the stronger it is of course. Same goes for speed, defense, etc ingredients.

Super easy rule of thumb.

Get yourself some Hearty Durians, and cook as many as you can in one pot. That's like the only meal I used aside from stamina mushrooms and some quest meals.

Girlfriend just bought this game and it came with the season pass so we have a few questions.

Does the DLC unlock after a certain point, such as beating the game? If not, how is it integrated?

It's integrated into the game itself. All of the treasure chests can be found right away. DLC Pack 1 has a certain condition that I won't spoil. DLC Pack 2 unlocks after you're done with most of the main quest. I'd advise you to try to finish them both before completing the game, instead of afterwards.
