I thought it'd be like GR1, that I'd get enough gems to upgrade almost everything by the time I was done with gold challenges.

Boy, not even close :(

I don't wanna go mining for a whooping 75% of the gems I need...

No. Some sidequests will become unavailable at points during the progression of the main episodes but they all become available again later.

Good to know, thanks! I moved from episode 5 to 8 with all the side quests today (and went from 2020 dusty tokens to 3140). Doing the side quests as soon as they show up is "more fun" imo, but it is pretty slow. I'll see what I do tomorrow if I skip them or not from now on until I hit episode 14. (I still have a "long way" to go until episode 14).

Edit: Oops, sorry for the double post, it was meant to be an edit.

Man, I gotta admit this game makes me feel dizzy sometimes.
I haven't been dizzy inside the game yet. Luckily, my acrophobia hasn't been triggered yet either. (In fact, one of my hobbies is to let Kat smack into street and building from great heights.)

I did experience weird things after I finished Gravity Rush Remastered. It was like my vestibular system was thrown off balance. Even reading this forum was unpleasant as sentences seemed to shift and drift off somehow. It was very subtle, but enough to make me feel unwell.

When the online features go offline, are they going to make the outfits available without dusty coins?

In GR:R, I got into the habit of using Gravity Kick out of combat to aim for efficient navigation and challenges, as it was more precise. As far as I can see, it's not possible in the same way in GR2? Any time I try and control Kat's fall/kick (ie. move it to the left or the right), she'll stop the kick. I can't see any upgrades that do otherwise. Maybe it's still possible via motion controls? I didn't think to test. I think because the aiming reticule is smaller, too, I feel far more clumsy out of battle than I did in GR:R. Positively, combat feels more responsive in GR2, so that's good.

ETA: Went and mucked around with it properly, and I think the issue is that the Gravity Kick doesn't last long outside of combat, so maybe that'll improve with upgrades. I didn't realize how reliant I'd been with it by the end of GR:R!

I only played GR Vita and finesse wasn't really a thing there. At least it wasn't something I got a grip on when it comes to movement. It wasn't awful but for the most part GR2 feels a lot better. It did take me a while to get used to the aiming though and even then I would occasionally miss, particularly moving targets but the Warp Kick somewhat helps with this and much like the first game it is far easier just to throw stuff at enemies.

Doesn't seem like it. More likely that the offline content will give Dusty Tokens and the stuff that already gives it will give much more generously.

I really don't like Jupiter style lol. And I thought Lunar was hard to control. I don't see this thing having a lot of use except for short distance sprints and that Surge Kick. The Slide is useful too in challenges.

The massive boulder throw is actually pretty good for either slow/non moving targets or lots of little targets. In combat you can slide in Jupiter to kill small Nevi and it is actually sort of satisfying to mow them down in such a manner. The punch is horrible, don't bother with it. Kick is also pretty useful sometimes.
The speed makes it the choice for long distance travels but yeah trying to use this in tight spaces or enclosed areas is kind of a nightmare.

Mowing down Nevi with the slide is something I always wished I could do so I'm glad I'm able to do it now lol. Is it really the best for long distance travel though? It eats through your energy really quickly so I'm wondering if Normal style actually takes you further more quickly because it doesn't run out as often.

Talismans and I think just leveling up will offset some of that. Later you recover energy very quick too. I mean, you could just keep boosting regular mode and make it faster or fast enough but that seemed a bit boring to me. I had plenty of regular shifting in GR Vita already so I tried to get the most out of the other two as well as keeping normal at a good, powerful alternative.

The thing that baffles me the most about them closing the server, is how little they must cost. It's not like it has servers for matchmaking, for hosting matches or anything of the like, all of the features are so "light" that I really wonder how much shutting them off is gonna save them.

I doubt it's just the server cost. There's probably headcount involved: people who are policing the photo uploads/sharing, admin work, etc. These positions are likely the main factor.

That does make sense, didn't think of it. I wonder if they get many things that ought to be removed for whatever reason.

Hit 6k coins yesterday feels good not to worry about not getting them before the servers go down

Headcount is pretty expensive. There's probably a balance sheet. The cost outweighed the service's revenue, so they made a business decision. That's usually what happens.

These are amazing. Have you ever wrote out a process to how you do these? I assume its using some motion interpolation and something like the per pixel motion blur in After Effects?

I have described my process a few times over the years, but the main gist is colour alteration, camera zoom, crop, pan, footage slowed to 24fps, and on some games or clips some motion blur added in post. I'll probably write up or do a short video tutorial or something as I do get asked every so often.

I don't want to know how you've made it, I just need to know how much time it took you to export before you made the gift!

I mean I'm using an AMD 955 coupled with 8GB DDR3 RAM and it usually takes like 30 seconds for a 10 second clip, that's rendering at 960X540, at full HD it'll take double and as my PC is quite old I just stick to editing in 540p. I still have all my original captures though so in the future when I upgrade I can edit them in 1080p and make videos for instance instead of lower resolution gifs. As you can see though my system isn't all too powerful, I'm guessing with a modern i7 or i5 there shouldn't be a problem exporting in realtime. :)

Wow that sounds very interesting. Please make a video tutorial when possible and hopefully a mod can hyperlink it to your member tag.

Can someone confirm something for me? It'll involve spoilers but an answer that spoils as little as possible would be much appreciated.
Is Syd actually Alias? I always got that impression in the first game. I also vaguely remember Kat finding something out about Syd that was never revealed. At least I think that happened. Is Alias in the game outside Kat mentioning him when you go back to Hekseville?

I'm still left with a lot of questions. I'm not sure if it's coincidence that so many other (much older) games are getting their servers taken down in Q1 2018. And unlike most of those other games, Gravity Rush 2's servers are entirely asynchronous. And the moderation is limited to reviewing photos that actually get reported by users.

Worse is that the game clearly wasn't designed with this in mind. Before the game's release, Keiichiro Toyama talked about how much work they put into adding these features. I'm sure that, had they known SIE would take them down so soon, that they wouldn't have locked content behind the online. Sony already confirmed that you won't be able to get the rewards locked behind Dusty Tokens once the servers go down, and that's just one part of the game that is negatively impacted. I wish more people supported #DontForgetGravityRushbecause I genuinely do think we could turn this around. With hundreds of new users joining the Dusty Token worldwide charts every day (13k new users in December), it's not that the online isn't being used.

Doesn't the beginning blow six ways to sunday?
I wouldn't say that. It's a weird way to start for sure, but it was interesting. Goes a little to long maybe before you get the Gravity Powers, but my issue was they gave them to you too soon in the original.

Currently at 3000 dusty tokens. I think I collected more than 1000 yesterday, mainly through challenges. If this keeps up, I'll be done with them in a few days. Although I need to keep doing treasure missions to collect gestures and furniture.

Did about four treasure hunts and got about 200 tokens. Guess I'm gonna have to hit the challenges to get the big stuff.

Forgot Kat got a 2b outfit and how pretty this game is in general. Damn.

This game has too many side missions. The story is getting good but now I've got 5 fucking side missions to do and a challenge. I know I don't HAVE to do them but I can't help myself.

I did all of them as soon as I saw them, definitely added a lot of hours to the game haha

Are poses still locked behind online modes? I've got over 6000 Dusty Tokens, but like 3 poses are still yet to be unlocked.

I don't think it spoils anything. You should do it now, because having the DLC be potentially your last experience with Gravity Rush 2 is not cool.

Oh, I haven't started GR2 yet. But the DLC is bad huh? That's too bad. Liked Raven in the first game.
