I don't know if I could go back to Gravity Rush Remastered. 2 is just so much better. For me.

Any tips for dusty token farming? Just got into the game - enjoying far more than the demo. Just feels like a bigger, better version of the first...

I'm at 1400 Dusty tokens after 4 days of playing a few hours a day, mainly exploring the city and doing a few missions.

I've uploaded photos, sent challenges, forwarded treasure missions and even found a new one during normal gameplay, but no luck there whatsoever. Haven't received challenge missions yet either. I'm currently at chapter 6; do I need to progress further with the story to receive them?

You get them randomly from strangers, but the best way to receive challenge missions is to add other people who are also farming. I'd be happy to help anyone who needs help with that.

I still haven't played this game but I have it sitting on my shelf. Is it worth playing before they shut down the servers? Am I missing anything significant?

The challenges are pretty fun, getting tokens lets you get various costumes and what not as well. I mean, it's no big deal if you play it after the servers shut down, but I recommend this game. It's a gem.

If you already have it, I'd say you should take time to get into it while the servers are still up.
10 | Upside-Down Man Photo Item
100 | "Salute" Gesture
300 | Worker Costume
500 | Miner's Technique Talisman
1000 | Traffic Cone Photo Item
2000 | School Uniform 1.0 Costume
3000 | Fisher's Recipe Talisman
4000 | "You There" Gesture
5000 | Shifter 1.0 Costume
6000 | Unlimited Potential Talisman
In respect to what the Dusty Tokens unlock.

The game is still enjoyable either way, but those little things like going on treasure hunts, taking on others' challenges, and reviewing/submitting photos have helped make the game feel more special, so I'd say they'll be missed once they're gone. Given the rate at which tokens can be earned, as well as how much time is still remaining, it's worth looking into.

I'm at 2000 so far, three days in just reviewing pictures, finding treasure, and sending and accepting challenges. Hopefully I can make it to 6000 soon.

Oh, nooo, the treasure hunts are really fun. I wasn't expecting them to be at all. Give them to me, GR.

ETA: Plus the soundtrack! It's so relaxing.

I'm on story mission 14 now and the game is easily better than the first in every way.
Even the stealth missions aren't really that bad, so far anyways. Maybe they get worse later.

Make that 3655 (reviewed a photo for another 30 and beat two challengers in Sliding Race I for an extra 360).

send me some challenges for some guaranteed wins and I'll send some challenges back. Just let me now your from era so I know to lose to and add you.

I would say though after playing from since about a month after launch taking nearly 100 photos and receiving only 2 reviews on those photos don't waste your time taking photos for dusty tokens only do it if you actually want the photo. I've also only ever seen a handful of photos to review myself, so I'm convinced that feature has never worked entirely as intended.

I've got some rated photos. I think it helps if you leave them at locations that are guaranteed to have hits. I left a couple near quest starting points. Then again, I played only a few month after release where as we are nearing a year now.

I was doing the same thing in the end just to see if I could get any hits but to no avail. But I've seen less than 5 blue Kats to rate other peoples photos in my entire time playing, so for me something was never working right. I thought I took some quite nice photos to ;_;

Like I said I've been playing and taking photos since a month after launch so time frame was not the issue.

It seems to help. I got a lot more ratings when I started taking photos in unique or highly trafficked areas; even earlier this year when almost no one was playing.

I have to say I'm loving the online frenzy right now with everyone racing to get tokens before the servers shut down. I'm seeing other player photos everywhere now. Even treasure hunts (golden Kats). That's something I never saw before this week.

It's a shame GR2 wasn't as popular at launch or it could have been like this all year.

I just watched that video linked about Dr. Brahman, Kali, and Durga. Good stuff.

Toward the end, I definitely started feeling sympathetic toward them (Kali and Durga). Especially Kali.

Yeah, you feel really bad for them when you learn what Brahman is doing. Fucked up.

The reason why makes it understandable. Like, I get how the center of it all influences his decisions. That doesn't change how manipulative and messed up he is though. Stuff got rather dark when you look at the bigger picture and the events that make it all up.

So I just received my first challenge for Dusty tokens. Apparently, someone also took on my challenge and lost, granting me 180 tokens.

So how does it work exactly? If I win, I get the tokens and if I lose, my challenger gets them? And if we draw, we both get 90 tokens? If the last is true, I'll aim for that (if it's a points challenge at least).

You get 5 for losing and 50 for drawing.

Do sidequests just not give any gems? I'm finding it hard to get gems lately. I'm only in Episode 9 so maybe it gets better later but I wish these sidequests would give me more than just photo items. Challenges barely give gems either.

Is there a point in the game where you're cut off from doing the challenges and stuff? I definitely want to get the 6000 dusty tokens asap, but I also would like to progress with the story a bit.

The final part of the game will lock you out of the open world for a couple of hours, but that's the only part that I can remember.

I'm nearing the end and the game went full JRPG on me.
"Looks like you're nearing the climax, but first here's 20min of puzzles."

Just... why?

I'm not sure how many share this opinion but I think my favorite chapter is 10.

When you break out your friends from prison and then end up fighting a ton of enemies including two Eliminators on the airship.

Usually the criticism I hear for GR is that the combat is boring but I actually found it a lot of fun, especially when you mix up your gravity styles to keep moving as you fight. It's not really a complex battle system but I still had a blast with it, almost as much as flying around the world.

I just played a few hours of GR: Remastered and didn't like it at all. I've moved on to the second hoping it's better, but I don't know if it will change my opinion. I don't know what it is, specifically, but the series just hasn't "clicked" for me like I was hoping.

Just to give a little more detail.
Completing Episode 10 gives you access to all the challenges in Jirga Para Lhao.
Starting Episode 11 will temporarily lock them until you complete Episode 20. You will have access to new challenges during this time however.
Completing Episode 14 allows you to receive furniture through treasure hunts.
Also after completing Episode 20 you get 8 treasure hunts every 12 hours instead of 4 every 12 hours.

25 pieces of furniture are available in treasure hunts so it's worth getting Episode 14 done soon so you have time to farm the treasure hunts for furniture before the server shutdown. Also worth getting Episode 20 done for the increased treasure hunts.

I too, bought this game recently to farm dusty tokens before the servers shut down. I currently have 2020 dusty tokens, hopefully I can make it to 6000 before it's too late.

So episode 20 is the sweet spot? I'll probably try to get to that chapter during one day of gameplay, then.

Yup Episode 20 is definitely the sweet spot.
And at any point that challenges are temporarily locked out you can still complete the ones received from other players and then send them back out. You just can't start the challenge yourself from the map or mission menu.

This is very helpful, thanks!

I guess I'll focus on the story for the time being. I've already wasted way too much time on flying around and doing absolutely nothing productive.

That's good to know. Thanks so much for the help. :) I was starting to feel bored just doing challenges so it'll be nice to get on with the story.

Fuck... I'm only at episode 5...
I didn't know treasure hunts had another purpose.
There's 39 furniture items in-game, 25 of them only available through treasure hunts.
Also treasure hunts have unique talismans, gestures & photo items. I'd like to think these items will be made available offline after the server shutdown but I'm not relying on it.

I wonder if you lose everything you gained from dusty tokens/treasure hunts if you choose to start over? If so, that sucks for after the server goes down. :/

Agreed. GR2 needed more like this. The combat is as basic or as complex as you want it to be, especially later when you start unlocking more abilities. I was Delvool diving for the first time in months last night and I was pleasantly surprised by the tactics I was required to use just to survive: constantly mixing up close quarters and long range combat, swapping gravity styles to abuse specials and normals, even swapping talismans on the fly to exchange my SP meter for health or power up weaker abilities.

There should have been missions that required this baked into the main story.

I wonder if you lose everything you gained from dusty tokens/treasure hunts if you choose to start over? If so, that sucks for after the server goes down. :/
Hah, this is definitely going to be one of those games where I back up my save in a few places.
