the battery is really awful in this update. I was losing charge 2-3x a day on my trip with heavy usage.
Liking the 6s. Too bad I was too poor for the 8 or x. Hell of an upgrade from 4s either way
I did it and it worked.people on macrumors says that draining the battery until it shuts off and THEN letting it charge for 8 hours fixes it?
didn't know this, thanks.Well one thing you can also do is swipe right on that bar at the bottom. That's the fast app switcher and really makes multitasking more pleasant.

Addressing customer concerns
We've always wanted our customers to be able to use their iPhones as long as possible. We're proud that Apple products are known for their durability, and for holding their value longer than our competitors' devices.
To address our customers' concerns, to recognize their loyalty and to regain the trust of anyone who may have doubted Apple's intentions, we've decided to take the following steps:
At Apple, our customers' trust means everything to us. We will never stop working to earn and maintain it. We are able to do the work we love only because of your faith and support — and we will never forget that or take it for granted.
- Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by $50 — from $79 to $29 — for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018. Details will be provided soon on apple.com.
- Early in 2018, we will issue an iOS software update with new features that give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone's battery, so they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance.
- As always, our team is working on ways to make the user experience even better, including improving how we manage performance and avoid unexpected shutdowns as batteries age.
It is for me, I will trade it in when the next pone comes out... $24 a month X 12 = $288
Regarding the recent performance - battery degradation debacle:
What is iCloud messages?Solid response from Apple, but jeez, yet another unexpected emergency iOS release that will divert resources away from things like iCloud Messages.
At this point I'm expecting iCloud Messages to be delayed to iOS 12. It was my most anticipated feature too :(
iCloud sync iMessages. You could backup and restore your iMessages from the cloud. It was in a dev beta for 11 but removed before the public release.
Forget everything you knew about the home button and embrace the gesture futureJust got mine but I'm at work
Any day 1 things I need to do when I start the future(tm) up?
Did it also back up and restore regular SMS texts?iCloud sync iMessages. You could backup and restore your iMessages from the cloud. It was in a dev beta for 11 but removed before the public release.
It was pretty nice, I was able to start fresh without losing my messages. It was supposed to return but we haven't heard shit about it.
Yes, but media was hit or miss.
I see. Well, I hope it comes back soon, kinks and all!
This worries me since it's only a matter of time until I'll drop it.When I was visiting the family, my mom dropped my iPhone X onto concrete. Time slowed down and I think my life briefly flashed before my eyes. Fortunately the Apple silicone case did its job, but a nice chunk got taken out of a corner. If it had been naked I probably would've had a shattered screen and a big dent.
Lmao at threatening to use Android to solve battery problems. Alright, man. You do you.
My local Apple store hads AirPods in stock, so I ordered a pair online. The dates for finding a set were mid January after selling well during Xmas, checked randomly and some stock was available.
Can't wait to try them out!
My 8 Plus which has the same glass scratches easy af as well. I think they advertised it as "most durable" and not "most scratch resistant" though...The X is easily the most scratch prone iPhone yet. Why do they lie and say it's more scratch resistant?
Also where the fuck is the Twitch app
I believe they said it was the most scratch resistant glass ever or some such nonsense. My 8 Plus which has the same glass scratches easy af as well. I think they advertised it as "most durable" and not "most scratch resistant" though...

My 7 which has been through hell has 100% less scratches than my X which is babied and barely 2 months old.
Bad job Apple.
For $1200 I wish they used the sapphire crystal used on the SS watch. Glad to see it's not selling well and their stock is tanking. Maybe make a quality product if you want people to buy it.
They had to cut sales expectations 40% just a few months after launch. It's a dud.Haha, what? It's outselling both the 8 and 8 Plus individually, just not both of them combined.
Good thing you can get a new one for only $29My standby battery life has gone to shit lately and I don't know why. :/
Grab an Android phone and let us know how much better your battery life is.Are you feeling threatened? Not meant as an ultimatum nor meant to be funny. Venting frustration with this current iteration of iPhone/iOS. Not up to par with what I've been used to with every past iPhone i've owned.
Unfortunately the phone needs to stay on a wireless charging pad in order to achieve normal battery life.Man, wireless charging is the business. No more lightning cables just set it down and its charging. All they need to do is work on the memory issues and this phone would be perfect.
This is not a "one or the other" situation. They had to cut sales expectations 40% just a few months after launch. It's a dud.
I would love to see a picture of these scratches btw, because mine is pretty flawless and I would love to know what to look out for.I believe they said it was the most scratch resistant glass ever or some such nonsense.

I don't use bluetooth and close out all my apps. Phone makes it all day off a charge with 40% to spare. I'll stop closing them out after they fix the memory problem.Unfortunately the phone needs to stay on a wireless charging pad in order to achieve normal battery life.

I use Android plenty, too. I'll take the occasional iOS hiccups over the rogue Android app battery wakelocks.Pixel 2 XL battery life is phenomenal, actually. I wouldn't use anything than stock Android. I swap between iPhone/Android so often and can get well over a 24 hours compared to less than 24 with the same amount of useage. So many good phones out there right now! First world problems.
Same, I'm aware of the downsides of sapphire glass (brightness, brittleness) but for the asking price I really wish they went with it. Chances are the gorilla glass derivate they use now will shatter anyway if you drop the phone, might as well have a very scratch resistant and premium glass while it's intact.I believe they said it was the most scratch resistant glass ever or some such nonsense.

I would have happily paid the difference. I love the SS watch material that I can hit against literally everything and it will never scratch. For the price premium I wish we at least had the option. My X is covered in scratches and I haven't dropped it once.Same, I'm aware of the downsides of sapphire glass (brightness, brittleness) but for the asking price I really wish they went with it. I guess that ship has sailed for the next few years though.
Seriously, post a pic, I am legit surprised at your experience of scratches, mine is pristine.I would have happily paid the difference. Where did these even come from?!
I've converted to the dark side and now using the darkEra theme. But is there any way to (in portrait mode) change the address bar at the top to disappear or darken too?
On my 6 I had slight screen burn from that top bar through browsing over the years.

The only way to get a dark address bar is to switch to Private browsing.
I got some for Christmas, been very impressed so far. I think I'm getting lint and stuff in the case from my pocket though lol, need to figure out the best way to clean it regularly.
Not supposed to be there. On the lock screen, I have a weird line about half an inch wide, right below the batter/wifi indicator... what is it?
