Contrary to what you say Jom, people are pretty fair in this thread. We voice it when we have concerns, but we also listen to LRG's explanations.
I don't see what reaction you're trying to provoke by coming here and basically say you think we're childish...

I don't know where I've called anyone childish. If you think everyone here is fair and gives LRG credit when it's due and criticism when it's appropriate, great.

I see an LRG rep here posting something like this in their last post: "There is literally nothing I can say to make anyone understand or happy. So I'm done commenting on this. ='(". Maybe they're just too sensitive I guess.

We aren't doing developer editions again.

We signed this long ago, so long ago we forgot. Discussions happened, ESRB happened, and this was what we could compromise on. 2018 does not represent this release strategy as a whole. This is not going to be repeated.

Part of this comes from an added cost that wasn't there when it was signed.

There is literally nothing I can say to make anyone understand or happy. So I'm done commenting on this. ='(

Hold the phone. I'm surprised there hasn't already been more conversation around the selections I've bolded. LRG has so many unfulfilled contracts that it is possible for them to 'forget' a contractual agreement until prompted by someone, presumably, Arcade Distillery. That seems pretty reckless.

The second bolded section speaks to their working capital. They are putting out a game, Mecho Tales, that they have been throwing shade at and tossing under the bus because it looks like they cannot afford to buy out the contract. It certainly makes me wonder how many old, unannounced contracts they will 'forget' unless prompted because of ESRB pricing and their cash flow.

Crying emojis be damned. I that stuff is more interesting.

I'll be honest, some of the 'official(?)' replies both here and at the Mighty Rabbit forums were just odd and didn't seem professional. I wasn't going to keep pushing even as statements became contradictory.

i think around the time the ESRB thing was announced they mentioned that there would be and had been some cancellations because of the increased costs and wasn't there a game released somewhere in october-november that had a price increase because of the ESRB rating?

Holy frick you guys what's the deal towards Mecho Tales

I haven't seen this big of a non-issue in quite some time now. It just seems to be another instance of an average game getting on disc, that everyone can just feel free to skip over if they don't like. Why the need to dig into the behind the scenes info on it? Is there something about the dev/game I'm not getting? This just really seems like no big deal and as for me I'm going for the leftovers on NYD. I don't know why people are getting after LRG for this, even with the "Developer edition." Is that literally all this is about? I think it's pretty lame as well but let's not kid ourselves, I don't think it's worth worrying about the future of LRG over. I thought this discussion would have ended a few days ago.

Part of me thinks that if they released a physical version of the Switch port (which JUST came out) instead of the PS4 version not many people would be as upset.

Again, no cares that a below average game is being released. That happens all the time. More power to niche games to have a physical version, etc etc.
I think we've all gotten over that many releases ago.

It's the odd spectacle of the nonsense "developer" edition and the contradictory reasons on why this specific version has been created. Website says one thing, and statements made elsewhere say another.

Limited Run Games just shipped my SteamWorld games. La-Mulana EX got here last week, but held order #2, which got shipped late October, still hasn't arrived. If it doesn't arrive by the second week of January, I guess I'll have to go through the hassle of contacting the support and do it all over again.

So the Dev edition that isn't as good as the Lili LE then is the cause? I can kinda see why it would be a bit odd, since a normal version of a LRG release should be enough to support a dev, but I still think it isn't something to worry about since they said this would be their last one.

If they mentioned that there were cancellations because of the ESRB then I feel more justified in both of the concerns I mentioned. Either they actually did forget which is reckless and speaks to unbalanced books or the cancellations left them so cash poor they could no longer afford to cancel Mecho Tales so they will simultaneously release it while tossing shade at it.

Looks like Senko de Ronde 2 announced?

I wonder if it'll come with the Virtual On DLC.

Just going to clear it up one more time.

We signed a lot of games back in the day because we never imagined we'd hit a point where everyone wanted their game to come out at the same time. That coupled with the ESRB delaying a lot of releases caused us to get into this mess. It is 100% our fault for not having a backup plan or realizing this was going to happen. Some games got canceled, some were too far along to cancel, some already paid for ESRB ratings, etc. We think Mecho Tales is a great game. We understand why people are upset, we've taken that to heart and won't be doing any more "developer" editions.

When we say we "forgot" it's because a developer has typically "disappeared" or is busy at the time. We didn't forget that we signed the game, we only forgot that they would want to come out by a certain time because they've failed to spark any conversation with us after we had to delay it with the ESRB, which can imply to us that they need more time. We never rush our partners into a release. We are developer focused and want this to be painless and stress-free for them. A lot of times we will email a developer steps on what to do and they will start working on them without responding back to us, so we get caught by surprise when they turn out to be ready to go. Sometimes it's 100% our fault and we forget to follow up.

We have taken steps to prevent this from happening going forward in 2018. We spent an entire week working on a rough draft for a release schedule for most of the year. We are committed to making next year better for developers and customers. We love our fanbase and are going to make sure we don't lose sight of how we got here in the first place.

Can you comment on what games have been cancelled, specifically any that've already been announced?

That's really my only beef. If you're going to do a CE for a game, do a CE. Not a half-hearted "developer edition" for a company already receiving funding via crowd-sourcing campaigns. You're providing no value there.

Gotta agree with Dallow_bg. It's good Developer's Editions won't happen again.

I feel they meant "everyone" instead of "anyone". Some didn't have a problem with the developer's edition in the first place.

Can you comment on what games have been cancelled, specifically any that've already been announced?

I hope it won't be too painful, but yeah I feel an update on cancelled games is due (if only to update OP).

Well, I'm looking forward for more announcements and release dates! Hoping ESRB won't hold up too much...

Is it worth trying to get the Shantae CDs I wonder? Usually just a couple left during these sales, though.

Oh damn, no Steamworld Dig. I skipped it and kinda changed my mind since.

Steamworld Dig won't be on this sale since it just went up the other week. These sales are generally to clear out heldover inventory from exchanges and returns. You'll prob see it next year.

That said, if you legit want the game you could try messaging doug or josh or the main account on Twitter. They've been known to help out a good fan.

Awww crap, I am entering "Hold Shipping HELL". :(((((

Just got a shipping confirmation and while there are four games entirely missing, with at least one of them not having been released yet (Windjammers CE PSV, Claire PSV, Double Dragon IV CE, Super Gunworld 2), the Nex Machina CE is listed twice. I bought one. International return shipping costs would be ...frightening, to say the least, and would take budget away from at least one game I would otherwise buy.

Of course I have openend a ticket. Sure. But man, am I nervous now. :-/

Not sure if I should laugh, cry or be angry Skullgirls will be part of some "blow-out sale" before my order from last year has even shipped out. Thought the Vita version would ship in November if not December. Contacted them to ask them to ship it and it was basically welp, too late, gotta wait until whenever the Vita version releases.

If they send you an extra copy of something you are not obligated to return it.

Last time I used the hold shipment they sent me doubles of six of the nine games in a separate package. I just sold 3 of them at cost (and ate some of the shipping).

If you want to be fully above board just notify them of the mistake and that you can't afford to ship it back.

Skullgirls wont be sold until everyone gets theirs

They did give you a chance. For like 2 months. And it was shipping at no cost to you. I guess you missed the part where they were denied certification again at October before the Late November submittance. Even then, it will still take time for approval and at least 5 weeks to manufacture accordin to Ravi

The Vita version shipping this year seemed like a sure thing or at least to me they made it seem like a sure thing. Now February seems to be the earliest. Moreover, the Vita version failing certification more than once has me even more worried.

Also, Skullgirls will be part of their "PlayStation Bling Box" sale in early January where there is a 80% odds are you will get it and I sure I was not alone in waiting on the Vita version if you also bought the PS4 version, so yes, it will be essentially be on sale before some of us receive it.

I think I'm finally sour to the whole thing. Trying to figure out how to dump all the LRG stuff I have.

Fuck, the whole "blind box" thing is disgusting.
