I'll think about it

I'm so happy it did. Because over this Christmas break, I had played on replaying it. Then lo and behold, it gets made right before the end of the year lol

I'd like to think this thread kind of came to be out of coincidence and how strong the ending was. I stumbled upon Calfirma post here in the adopt a user thread and got some warm fuzzies at remembering the ending moments of the game. Unfortunately the topic was not quite right so I suggested a LTTP instead. This almost happened but Toon Link came and saved the day by offering to make the OT. So now we have a new home.

Game was a beast - beat it when it first came out. One of my favorites tbh. What blew my mind is when I thought the game was over and then there was another 1 hours left - story wise it blew my mind. Never expected the directions it went

Hey, the game finally has an OT. Cool, because I finished Gravity Rush Remastered two weeks ago and I'm now a few hours into Gravity Rush 2.

I loved Remastered. The game felt somewhat barebones at times (minimal menu, nothing to do except gathering crystals and retry challenges) but the world was made of pure magic. One of the things I loved the most was when the game truly let you explore and you were even awarded for it at times, such as the rare navi at the bottom of the tower in the first rift.

The game was also unbearably frustrating at times, mainly when its challenges demanded a level of control over the camera the game couldn't provide.

I also expected Raven to play a larger role in the story. Or at least that she would have more presence. But that would be something to look forward to in the sequel, then.

As I've said, I'm currently a few hours into that Gravity Rush 2... But the game has been somewhat of a disappointment so far. It looks much more polished than its predecessor, I'll give it that. The city you arrive at after the first chapter is gorgeous.

Maybe it's the slow start that bothers me, together with the railroading. For example, the first game explicitely encouraged you to venture off the beaten path in the first rift. In this game, you go into that rift like plant level and you're forced to follow the path it sets out for you. The entire level is basically just a barely disguised tutorial.

It's still fun to fly around, though, and the treasure quests are fun as well. A shame those will disappear in three weeks when the servers shut down. Hopefully the main story will pick up as well now that the world has finally opened up a bit. And hopefully Raven will return soon as well.

So you don't wanna shit on the game cuz it's the OT but you do it anyway? Lol I mean you're free to talk negative on it if that's how you feel about it but I don't see what the point of the facade was.

Lmao right? Like what was the point of saying that

Like, my mans, you can talk shit about the game as long as it's constructive discussion.

"I won't say that this game is terrible because this is the OT but it's really terrible you guys"

What even is this, lol.

I said I could talk about the things I don't like all day, but wouldn't. And I didn't talk about them all day - I just listed them briefly. If I was to talk about them I could fill this OT with pages and pages of criticism of each of those things I listed. But since this is the OT - and likely to be a slow-moving, quiet one - I just listed some of the things I have issues with and left it at that. That is what I meant. I never said I wouldn't 'shit on' the game or wouldn't say it's terrible - the whole point of my post was to point out that I think it's terrible. Please read.

The point of doing this was to warn people who would otherwise just see a bunch of positive posts that there is a strong dissenting opinion on this game, and yet at the same time not totally spoil the OP with long critical posts for those of you who just want to enjoy talking about a game you like. Seeing as the Kat-avatar posters are already upset, I see that my tactic failed.

There was just a buzz with the franchise from the forums that came before and always cool when you see Kat avys appear, like you're part of some cool collective that didn't necessary had a home...like Kat, to think about it.

Now the year is coming to end and people are now being reminded who started the year off with a bang!

Heh, that's a good way of putting it.

I do think GR2 is an excellent game, but the amount of fetch quests the game makes you complete can be annoying. Lovely visuals, I really do enjoying flying from city to city, but GR1 felt tighter for me.

No problem about making the thread, guys. I'm pleasantly to surprised to see how lively the thread is. I was worried that it would quickly get buried, since a lot of people have already finished the game.

I'm going to get started on getting some Dusty Tokens tonight.

Wow, they really put in some effort into GR2's ad in Japan. Worth a look if you haven't seen it, was quite fun.

It's still on my things to play, after I finish the first one which I bought earlier this year.

Funnily enough, the game is discounted a lot right now locally (-54% off (€56 down to €26)), so bought.

Huh. Does anyone else have issues with the 'time played' total in the statistics screen? I left the game yesterday with 6 hours played, just turned my PS4 back on half an hour ago (it hasn't been on in the mean time) and now it suddenly shows 14 hours of playtime.

Here is something neat I found on a Japanese auction site last year:

Cu66E9J.jpg

Snagged for less than 10 bucks.

I believe it is supposed to be a promotional DVD for retailers to play on a display in their store. Still shrink wrapped so I wont be opening it any time soon if ever.

I'll have to share a few more things from my collection when I have some time.

I've been wanting to try these games but I have so much in my backlog. However, they are on sale and I feel like if I don't go in now, I will my chance of getting them at a discount for a long time.

Is it alright to just skip to GR2?

That's awesome. Anything GR related is cool to have.

Loved the first game so much that I got the platinum on both the Vita and the PS4 version.

Didn't really play much this year but after hearing that they would shut down the online component I had to finally get this.

I only played until chapter 10 so far, but sadly the game is kind of disappointing so far.

I still absolutely love the game's style, it had me hooked from the first minute playing the game and becomes even more awesome once the game opens up and you get this huge city to fly through.

However, the missions/story are not really all that great so far. Fighting human enemies and combat in tight environments is nothing that I really wanted from the game.

Challenges were something absolutely awesome in the first game, but so far the few challenges in the second game have not really grabbed my attention.

Still hoping for an improvement in the second half of the game.

Yeah, human fights are definitely the weaker aspect. They can still be fun at times though.

Later half is better as it's mainly boss after boss after boss.

Human fights, well, at least you can easily chuck them at stuff using stasis.

Glad this OT happened. I was in a panic myself to finish Gravity Rush 2 before impending server closure. But to folks just starting now, it's doable! I think i spent a week at most. It's very doable to get the 5000 dusty tokens in that timeframe, just keep at it!

Has someone got the platinum for this game? How hard is it? I browsed through the trophy list and some read a little grindy.
It isn't bad. Quite doable. It will take a bit of time though.

it won't get better. gravity shifting is still fun ofc. music is good, art and world are fine but the padded sandbox gameplay is bad and boring. it's kinda rushed later too. even if you finish the whole game, all sidequests and all challenges with gold, kat will only have half of her skills. you'll need to farm garbage by saving and reloading if you want to have all abilities maxed. huge oversights like these drag the game down unnecessarily. first game had a nice curve, it was better crafted all around.

I can't comprehend folks liking the first game but not loving this one. Opinions and all that, obviously, but it's just everything good about the first game done better in every way.

Chapter 12 sucks, yes, there's no getting around that, and Jupiter isn't as useful as I'd like - but otherwise. Glad people are giving it a shot, at least!

still have to get that insane amount of gems for the platinum. I loved how in the first game you pretty much just had to max your powers to get the trophy but I hate how in this one you have to do what feels like an endless grind.

Yay, a Gravity Rush 2 OT! Thank you!

I like the first one a bit more although only by a bit. The concept left a huge impression on me when it was initially announced.

Gravity Rush 2 did add a lot, like the new styles, taking photos (+the treasure hunts) which kept it fun. But I was disappointed with the story near the end and still think the combat could be better. Controlling Raven in the DLC also felt lackluster.
Not going to lie about being super happy when I could revisit Hekseville.

Flying around as Kat will always be a pleasure. Hopefully, I can dig up some of the pictures I took.

I don't mind the greater emphasis on fighting human enemies, but the increased focus on stealth over the first game is annoying.

Indeed, it is. I'm already at 2285 as of my fourth day playing.

Do I just suck or are the Challenges really hard to get Gold in? The first time battle took so many tries and as of right now the first delivery one feels impossible.

And Jesus there are so many gems everywhere. I don't remember it being this insane in the first game.

Lots of gems, but you start missing how many there are when you get most of them and are looking for the few you missed.

Challenges get easier over time. The stealth ones were the hardest for me.

There were definitely many gems in the first game as well. In the weirdest places, too.

I got bronze on the first challenge, 50 points short of silver, despite being quite confidant in my skills as I just finished the first game. So I figure it's mostly a case of upgrading your skills.

Speaking of which: I miss the option to power up the gravity gauge and your health. Can this only be done through talismans now or do they improve as you progress through the story?

Believe some main missions, and certain side missions, both raise gravity gauge and health.

I'd prefer them being regular powerups like the first, but oh well.

The side quests that really irked me were the ones that existed to introduce challenges. I don't get why they were needed, just give me the damn challenges, they aren't that complex that I need side missions to serve as tutorials.

I'm willing to go on record and say ducks are the best addition to this game.

OK, thanks. It was hard going from the fully upgraded gravity gauge in Remastered to the one in the beginning of Gravity Rush 2, but at least it will get better.

Jupiter is hard to charge, because you get knocked out of it easily, which is annoying. Lunar is hard to fight in when it's not those enemies that are hard to hit with normal gravity.

Gravity Rush is a far far better and more creative Infamous than that game
Seriously, this game makes it look like Insomniac made the most boring, generic thing possible which is kinda true
