No worries about this!

I really like the match sounds one. The controller video has a little too much downtime, I think. Keep up the good work! (I noticed you made some others – will check them out)

Thanks! I'm sort of learning as I go, my goal is to start sprinkling actual editing in next time and really focus in more on making the sounds good (these last few really I was just trying to get something up and getting comfortable with recording) and from there I'll eventually figure out putting in real video. I downloaded one of those phone as webcam apps but the frame rate and quality is so low I've just been dumping the video and opting for a static screen.

I get ASMR from Italian for some reason. Great channel for that even if half of her videos are also in english. Never see anyone mention freckle anywhere.

I'm super late with the reply lol, but I'll check this out! For me the particular language is probably more of a minor factor; it's more about the distance to the microphone, intonations and how the words are spoken.

Here's a great video I stumbled upon today:

By the way, my YouTube homepage is almost entirely ASMR. Occasionally I get video game recommendations, but the ASMR domination is real.

(and it's great — there's almost always something new I like, and not only from my subscriptions; all the)

Man, ASMR Glows Halloween Special "shouldn't be relaxing at all", going by its theme and content, but it somehow does it like no other video for me this past week.

Woah! That's pretty cool indeed. ASMR glow is great in general, I almost forgot about this channel.

Also ASMR Surge is secretly one of the best channels out there. The same level of creativity and experimenting as Ephemeral Rift, but minus all the talking (Ephemeral Rift is sublime, but a lot of his videos are about some new character etc — that demands the kind of time and concentration I often can't spare).

It's fun and delightfully weird. How about this for example:

(it sounds really good despite the weird premise)

And this is even better:

I'm sad. I can't find a single ASMR video that gets me tingly anymore. All my usual 'go to' vids don't cut the mustard anymore and I can't find anything new that works for me.

ASMR Surge is the best in the biz, hands down.

I don't know why I love matches so much with ASMR.

Wanted to reccomend a few ASMRtists. I tried to embed the videos but the site has something against multiple ones per post.

The Mellow Microphone ASMR. He's like this gorgeous relaxing piece of white chocolate. His voice is intoxicating and knocks me right off. Plus, he's like a ray of sunshine.

Goodnight Moon ASMR. She's funny, nice, creative and if you're looking for more elaborate fantasy roleplays, she's the one. Very high quality production values.

Pelagea ASMR. She's very sensual and very effective. YMMV, since not everyone likes it when there's sexy stuff in ASMR, but her effort and sounds are really nice. She usually gets some really weird props and I love that. Her accent is cute too.

Jade ASMR Garden. She's very relaxing to watch for stuff like make-up and basic roleplays. Some of her sassy videos are funny as heck. Specially the spanish ones.

May add a bit more, but I'm still feeling around. I enjoy the more mainstream channels too like Gibi ASMR and ASMR Darling, but these ones pulled me in a bit more. I have some others which are more obscure. May share them in another post.

I absolutely love matches. I recommend some of the old videos by ArdraNeala. Also one of the best match videos ever got deleted along with its channel a couple years ago :/ Don't remember exactly what it was called

All good stuff! Definitely interested in the more obscure recommendations as well. And you can just insert links instead of embedding videos.

I never though Pelagea ASMR was exactly sexual, by the way. Maybe because I almost never watch the actual videos and just stick to listening.

Glitter has been a little wishy washy when it comes to uploads and sometimes even content, but when she focuses on "ear treatment" she is out of this world. There are a few vids in the back catalogue where she does ear treatment with oil on her hands and it's so good.

Thank you for this thread. I talk about ASMR and people look at/react to me like I'm high.

I've always found videos of people cutting paper with scissors triggered the ASMR response; ever since I was a kid, back when you'd see a lot of crafting on TV.

The strongest responses are always sexual for me though. I understand why it's so important to ensure the ASMR community is not dismissed as a fetish in the pubic's perception, but I'd love to understand the difference between the tingles that put people to sleep, and those stimulate arousal and have the opposite effect. I could never fall asleep to ASMR, and it makes me wonder if I'm experiencing the same phenomenon as others.

I suspect it's less about different responses, and more about association. I'm sure some people find massage consistently arousing, while I find that even if there's significant discomfort, being massaged still relaxes me to the point of sleep.

What do you mean by the strongest responses being sexual? Could you describe how it works?

I talked about this in detail before (on GAF), but I don't understand people saying ASMR videos "relax" them either. It's a very defined sensation, very physical — at its peak, it's strong feeling of physical pleasure in the back of my neck and/or around my head. I'd say it feels like some muscles are contracting, but I don't really understand the exact mechanism.

As for the sexual thing — for me ASMR is completely separate. I almost always have ASMR when having sex, but not vice-versa. The ASMR comes from being in intimate situation which is possible even without anything sexual (e.g. holding hands).

As much of a horndog as I tend to be ASMR is one of the few things that doesn't arouse me. It's pure relaxation that washes over me.

I just mean if I feel a strong ASMR response, it's also sexually arousing. Not sure why, and clearly that's not the case with everyone. But I either have a low key response, or I have a strong response that blends eroticism with heightened arousal. I'm interested to know you don't find the response relaxing either.

Been seeing mentions of the term for ages now, found the OP recently, and the tingling sensation thing is quite familiar to me, but sounds like whispers and whatnot don't really seem to be my kinds of triggers - some music, sometimes even just remembering, tends to have the tingling effect on me though, like the early parts of these:

Checking the Wikipedia article, seems kinda weird that people have only settled on a term around 2010 though... I recall being really puzzled by it and looking up stuff, but the closest I found were things like the writings of Wilhelm Reich and at least one other individual from around his era whom I can't quite remember right now...

Oh nice. I actually did not know that ASMR artist.

Meanwhile my favorite dropped a new vid. Her soothing voice is always welcome.

^ Latte is the best. I've hardly bothered with any other videos lately. Sometimes the videos that sound best to me on headphones--like hers--are a lucky blend of the right voice, acoustics, microphone, and post-production (or lack of it). Weirdly, some people's videos sounded best to me before they upgraded their equipment. Like the frequency range/boosts of the standard Apple earbud mic just works for some voices.

Muh... eaaaaaaarrrrrrssssszzzzzzzz *melts*
No idea why this video has an age restriction. Nothing inappropriate in it.

Oh I also wanted to share this one. Kind of makes you feel good. One doesn't have to be feeling awful to get something out of it either. It's comforting regardless.

Took me long enough to find this thread, but I'm glad I finally did! I've been down with ASMR for a while and I listen to them quite frequently to mellow out.

For me, GentleWhispering is like the OG ASMRtist, but Goodnight Moon ASMR is my GOAT. Everything about the Babblebrook Series is amazing, her nature/out and about videos are awesome, and even her earlier roleplayish videos are great. It's just perfect for me.

I subscribe to many listed here (Gibi, ASMRrequests, BlueWhisper, etc.) but I really miss SpringbokASMR. I hope she's in a better place in her life now (she got married and had a kid, I think) but I really love some of her videos, especially the Papers Please roleplay.

ASMR is a pretty crowded and competitive market these days on Youtube, that it has forced people to think of newer/creative ways to maintain that "high" or even appeal to those who are "triggered" in even more unconventional ways. When you have lines blurring between stimulis... that's how people can view this form of therapy, as bordering on weird and sexual.

I like all the different sounds, but the whispers creep me the fuck out.
I don't know what it is, but when she's whisper mumbling to herself, it's like a tingle explosion.

I need to give this one another chance. I usually crank my ASMR up to max volume, and when I tried listening to this one, the rain overpowered my ears.

It's funny, I started listening to Goodnight Moon with her "Outside of a party" series (I think she was Fresh Blush back then), and I really enjoy her rambles in that kind of roleplay setting, but I don't get anywhere near the tingles from her when she's just normal rambling. I get tingles that way from Gentle Whispering, but not from Goodnight Moon. It's odd.

It produces the exact opposite effect that the rest of the ASMR stuff has. It's a sudden power chord in the middle of the violin concerto. it's hard to describe. It's almost cringe levels of skin freakery. The roller on the material though, that was lovely. I can feel the texture changes like I'm holding the thing. Very surreal.

Anyone know a good browser that'll play on the background for iPhone? Dolphin is no longer on the store.
I just use the Youtube app when I want to listen on my iPhone, but that's that doesn't work when in the background. Otherwise there are some ASMR collections on Apple Music/Spotify?

I think the very idea of an ASMR video (whispers, sounds, roleplays) is/was pretty weird for the general. Things has been getting more and more mainstream over the past couple of years, but it used to be pretty niche back in 2012-2013.
