I think it's a huge deal that this is Kikuta's first full RPG soundtrack since... some Shining game that never came out here?

And we're talking ~2 hour of Kikuta goodness, thanks to that first stretch goal. And I frequently listen to our game's music while I work, like... for fun. So does Mike.

And I have to tell you - when I met him and got dinner with him last TGS, I was just barely able to contain my fanboy. Super nice guy, was fun to talk to.

I walked him through the entire game's story so he understood the emotional arcs, etc. and said at the end it was fantastic.

I couldn't back the campaign fast enough!

What he was able to do with Secret of Mana was amazing!
I always waited to hear more from him afterward, but sadly he never grew as busy as Mitsuda or Shimomura.

The music you've released so far has already surpassed my expectations and I can't wait to hear the full soundtrack during the game.

And to whomever suggested, in the Lab Zero meeting, to go after Kikuta.

So we originally started talking to Kikuta WAY back in 2011 when I was at Reverge, the original Skullgirls developer.

I was going to lead a project there, and wanted Kikuta to score it. We contacted him through 8-4 and he agreed, and we used a track off of his album Alphabet Planet on the pitch video. But that project was never signed, and Reverge is dead now.

When we started pitching Indivisible, we wanted him again. Because not only is his music awesome, he has the ethnic range this soundtrack needs. We approached him again, this time through Scarlet Moon Productions, and the rest is history!

I looove the new character. She looks awesome!

Edit: Oh wait, she isn't new. I's a redesign of one character lol
That's why that skin color reminded me of something.

Looking at both designs right now, I think that she looks a little too plain.
Adding some blue or green on her accessories would make her even better.

The shipping always makes it so hard to justify the physical editions for this kind of thing. It's 15$ on top of the 60$ of the physical edition; it's half the price of the game :(

woah

Zahra changed quite a bit and impossibly enough it's mostly for the better. You guys are way too good at this character design stuff.

Backed today, being able to get a Switch physical version and a Steam digital code in the collectors edition was too good to pass up.

Is there some way to change my backer level for this game? I backed Steam only on indiegogo back when it launched, but now I'm a Switch owner and would love to get a copy there as well. The only add-ons I can see through BackerKit are a steam code, sound track or tip.

edit: also I'm a sucker for collector's editions...

Edit 2: nevermind, figured it out. I kept my original Indiegogo pledge and just added the CE w/ Switch code through the pre-order store.

Ravidrath - I ended up revisiting the backer demo earlier today, mostly just doing weird challenge runs like only using certain directional attacks (like all up attacks etc.) and it got me wondering, do you guys have any plans for implementing alternate "reactive" actions that can occur during the enemy's turn? I don't imagine it would be a universal thing, but perhaps more defensive characters could carve out their role by having one or two alternate actions beyond timing a perfect block.

So, for example, pressing Qadira's button would result in the standard damage-mitigating block, but pressing up would change it to an ally-defending block (for those situations where another character can't even afford to eat chip damage), or pressing down could turn it into a shield swipe that could reflect projectiles or interrupt melee attacks if timed perfectly. I'm not sure if this would toe the line as far as overcomplicating things goes, but it seems like it could be a neat way for a few characters to distinguish themselves defensively in the moment-to-moment, without having to spend a few bars of Iddhi or rely on raw, passive defensive stats.

I think I dislike every redesign they did lol. Even if I understand most of the changes.

But I especially hate Zahra's new see-thru belly dancer's skirt :/

Yo wtf, just checking in on this thread and... Kikuta is the composer? Hot damn. Been a fan of his ever since Koudelka. This game can't come fast enough.

As soon as my budget resets for January, I'm backing this. Can't believe I waited so long. Cannot wait to play this on Switch!

December 31st is the last day you can back if you want the Collector's Edition or other physical rewards, FYI. I assume you can still pledge for a digital copy after that, but Ravidrath can confirm.

Thank you for that heads up. I think I'm going to opt for a digital Switch version. I did consider ordering the limited physical version, but my wife and I are so close to being debt free -- we're channeling every spare penny into what's left of our student loans for now so I'm going to stay that course! This is already a bit of an indulgence, but I'd like to support the game.

505 wants us to close ALL BackerKit pre-orders after the 31st, so not even digital pre-orders will be available until 505's own official pre-orders go live.

I hope he channels his Koudelka spirit to make the soundtrack. Kikuta is a talented fellow and I'm excited to see what he could bring to the table of a VP1-like game. It's like a dream scenario becoming real.

When we signed him, I said the general sound we're looking for was "Secret of Mana-like melodies with Soukaigi's lushness."

Obviously I'm biased, but I think the soundtrack is going to really be something special.

I really liked the music in Skullgirls, but I didn't listen to it while working all that often. Indivisible, on the other hand, I probably listen to it more than anything else.

Really can't wait until we can reveal some more of these tunes. I've been having Jon tease a few of my favorites on the animation streams lately, to give our most devoted fans a sneak peek.

Soukaigi takes me back ! I remember the sfx was very low quality but the soundtrack was dazzling as if it came from another dimension. This makes me even more excited, will be on the look-out for the new tunes for sure

Oh OK. The backer update from December 1st seemed to only mention physical stuff.

Cloud-Hidden , you might want to jump on this sooner, then, if at all possible.

Thank you so much for thinking of me, that was kind of you. Unfortunately that means I'll probably have to wait for official pre-orders. I know it sounds silly, but my wife and I work together on the budget and I set most of the limits. She always respects her limits and I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't do the same. No big deal, either way. I'll definitely be playing this game day-one regardless.

No problem. It doesn't seem silly; taking care of debts is certainly more important than video games. And as you said, in the end it won't really change anything.
