Nice summary of the region history, it is interesting to know where the names originates from.
Politics aside, I've always felt there were many common points between asians and Jewish people... Both are minorities among minorities which tend to be rapidly successful and well integrated in their host country. which sometimes generates resentment and yes racism including the ordinary, socially accepted kind of racism.
I swear it is sometimes hard to simply say that you admire the success (even the genius) of Jewish people in science, arts, media etc without people telling you that no, it's wrong because of the horrors in Palestine.
In my asian circle at least , probably because there is no such emotional/ historical /religious bagage like in Europe or Muslim countries, I feel the point of view is much more neutral.
