I feel like acting cynical and being overtly critial makes people feel smart, and for some reason they find value in being contrarian--often just for the sake of it. But picking out an aspect or two of a game that doesn't 100% work while ignoring all the good and labeling a game "bad" isn't reasoned criticism, it's an exercise in attention grabbing.
You can not like a game, it can not gel with you're personal tastes, but on the net we gotta be careful how go about saying it. Stumbling into a tread about Uncharted 4, Horizon, or Breath of the Wild and dropping a hot take about how, actually, everyone got it wrong and, actually, these critically acclaimed games are indeed very bad isn't insightful or helpful. Talking about what works and what doesn't is always important, but when you only want to use the latter to form your thoughts it's really transparent tbh. AAA games are rarely bad these days, chill out.
