Kyle going all in on the OR wars song is what makes him great. Except for getting the damn song stuck in me and the wife's head afterwards lol.

Haha, well yeah that crossed my mind too =P But I just want to get through or atleast get a decent taste of multiple games before I enter my ballot for the voting. Though it pains me that there are still like 10 more games that I don't even own and would be likely contenders for the list (Would love to play Yakuza but don't have PS4). I've already made some hard choices what to drop from my current TOP 10. This has been such a great year. Heavy hitters on many different genres. I already decided that I won't include re-releases/remasters/late ports. Sorry Bayonetta, you are exquisite.

Don't worry, I was just being cheeky haha. I'm placing priority on shorter games, too. I think Gravity Rush 2 is the longest out of the games I need to finish before GOTY Era ends.

Just a heads up since people are interested: Giant Bomb started posting their GOTY podcasts. On Youtube each category is on its own video. Look up the Resetera thread for timestamps for each game and such.

It's been great so far, I'm on biggest disappointment. I highly recommend everyone watch these videos this week since easy allies are taking the week off. Great introduction to the giant bomb cast and the quality of content they produce.

I was excited to check their Goty talk few years ago, I watched their content for few days but it ended disappointing. The level/depth of discussion wasn't what I wanted and just like with EZA they largely have way too little experience with wide variety of possible contenders. If only one person plays a game, it doesn't make for a very good discussion and debate.

Don't mean to bash them, I liked the crew. If I had time and interest to follow something besides EZA, GB would be at the top of my list. So I also suggest that people give them a chance. I might look into their Goty talks again this year too. And definitely will atleast check the lists from their site, also from the guests.

I can't wait to see what easy allies does for GOTY this year.
Yeah very true. With EZA I think 3 of them playing something could spark a decent discussion on any game. Not that those games still would have any chance of winning any awards, but my interest is more in the debates and reasoning than what the winner is.

Wow, your edit confused the hell out of me =D I was wondering who the heck I just quoted.

Sorry, I decided I didn't want to accidentally derail the thread into a giant bomb one. I thought my edit would have went through before you saw my first post, sorry for the confusion.

Haha, yeah no problem. I understand, I'm very often guilty myself talking besides the thread title and feel sorry for doing so =P But I think with community threads it's more laxed. And personally I have no problems with bringing up other crews and people here, as long as it's not creating any drama, trying to see beef where there is none, bashing others etc.

How spoilery do the Giant Bomb GOTY deliberations get? There are still some games I might not get to for awhile but I'd like to check the stuff out.
Depends upon the category. The usually have a category called "best moment or sequence" which is obviously going to spoil a lot of games. They tend to try to announce before they talk about spoilers but nobody's perfect. They talk about there spoilers policy within the first ten minutes or so of the podcast/first video.

A great year indeed.

And this Frame Trap is a lifesaver. I broke my foot on Christmas Day, so I'm posted up in bed playing Battlefront 2. Frame Trap will be perfect for later when I go to sleep.

Dang! Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesn't take too long to heal

It's great we'll be getting both podcasts this week since it's their vacation week.

And I finally booted up persona 5 and started putting time in it. I faded away from this game after the first palace and about 15 hours in it when other games popped up in front of it. Years ago I did a big marathon session with persona 3 and I'm feeling that pull to do the same with 5. These games are always structured differently than the average JRPG that can have these high highs pop up at different times in the story. Persona games to be is more this steady groove and I have to be in the right mood for it. And the cold holiday break fits that mood for me more. Now about 20 hours in and it's getting its hooks into me. It's funny how I can be reluctant to boot up a game but once I do I'm all into it again

Also my first choice for the group name was one character too long so I went with easy allies instead

Nice!
I'm not ready for Persona yet. As much as I wanna play it I feel like I need to be in a specific mood to start (especially as someone who doesn't really play JRPGs).

Oh yeah, they don't necessarily compliment EZA since the sort of stuff they cover is often similar.

And klastical hangout threads are about the community not the subject matter, we can discuss almost anything.

They are generally good at saying "spoiler" before plot spoilers, but they are pretty bad about spoiling cool or side things you might not want to know about. Checkout the timestamps in this thread.

Will the Allies be sharing their personal top 10 games of 2017 after EZA GOTY deliberations? Would be quite cool to hear each individuals list.

I'll probably put one in my backpack, but I don't have an unread chill book here (mostly technical/study stuff) and I find it hard to read on the bus.
I was looking forward to finishing Grandia during the way, pretty sure I'm at the last three hours of the game or at least very close to that ):

You can't charge a PSP via USB, can you? So a portable charger would be out of the question?

I can but the PSP needs to have enough charge to be turned on and connected. Not sure I can keep it charged until getting on the bus - or if my makeshift charger will be usable in the bus. May be able to squeeze some extra hours connecting it to the notebook inside the backpack or something.

In a completely unrelated note, this fanart is amazing

Yea I totally get that. For me holiday break just fits my rpg playing mood these days. Last year I played through Tails in the Sky in a similar fashion.

I really wish I could get through divinity sin 2 as well but I won't have time. My current plan is to try and finish persona 5 before Monster hunter worlds and Dragon Ball fighter z comes out in January

I hope you get a telescope and use it to watch Rear Window on your neighbors TV.

Honestly, while a big investment, Persona 5 is pretty good, unlike a lot of other games, where it has these perfect bookends where you can drop it and just walk away and come back like you haven't missed a thing. Many times In JRPGs, if I drop a game for a month or so and come back I suffer from, "Wait, what was I doing? What was going on?" But Persona 5 is kind of like a TV show that has seasons. I have been playing it on and off for 6 months and have never felt lost.
