I like all the NES Mega Man, have not played 8, love 9 and think 10 is pretty good, too. 7 I do not like very much. The sprites in that game are huge, which makes Mega Man's movement feel too slow, and his jumps not high enough. I think that's my biggest issue with the game.

Kyle had a surprise stream last night. I'm 30 mins in and if you want to see Kyle having a blast playing a dumb game check it out. It's been a while since I've seen him giggling this much over a game he's streaming

Well now I'm excited. I kind of hate how they have surprise streams since twitch notifications are broken for me. I get that they don't always know when they will be able to stream but giving a couple hours heads up on Twitter would be great but being honest I wouldn't be able to watch most of Kyle's streams anyways since he always streams so late at night.

Hey all — in a very 'adult' effort to not expand on my already stupid long backlog, i'm not going to use my 20% off coupon i got in an email for PSN. It expires 12/25. First person who quotes this message gets it.

Edit: Gonezo.

Or Wars is definitively better than bets just because of the theme song. Also the guests trying to impress Kyle with their hot takes is very entertaining. Please don't take this from me, bets are filler in comparison.

I'm not sure why Kyle thinks Catherine will be announced for more platforms when it comes west. If it were going to Switch, Japan would've been the first place they announced it for. And since we're talking about Atlus, that means it's not going to Xbox and definitely not going to PC.

Bets are integral to the podcast (and EZA in general). Or Wars would work as a recurring segment for a light news week, but if it replaced bets the will be rioting in the streets! Even if I'm the only one rioting.

Or Wars should make a comeback next year after the Red Eagles mathematically eliminate the Aqua Orangutans by the end of August

I opened up the archive and am getting a kick out of how blatant of a Smash clone this is.

Catherine is on Xbox 360
When I say "Xbox" I'm talking about the current gen Xbox One family (1, S and X), not the oXbox or 360. It's just easier than writing XB1. The 360 got good Japanese support, so it got games like Catherine, the Xbox One, not so much because they sell really poorly on it. Hence why Persona 5, Nier Automata and so on avoided it.

Nier Automata is fair, but mainline Persona games have always been PS exclusive. Even Nintendo consoles/handhelds don't get them and they sell extremely well in Japan. Either way you're probably right.

After 53 hours I finally finished Horizon! Great game. It was one where I went in looking to kind of min max it to work off other games in my backlog but once you boot it up it was like Zelda or Yakuza 0 for me this year I just couldn't stop veering off the beaten path. Decided to wait until next year to do the dlc. Let things settle and get a nice new chunk of the game then. By far the best Combat in an open world game that I've ever played. Fun stuff

And it meant I could finally watch the EZA spoiler mode on it and the noclip documentary. Really fun spoiler mode discussion. I like seeing them being able to cut loose on the whole game and not have to dance around things. And the noclip Video was also great. I really like how they showed the iterations. It's easy for us to look at the finished product and reduce it to a "of course this is the game. It's obvious". But it really provides an interesting look at the birth of a new Ip and the tinkering involved taking it from a blank slate into an actual game.

Next up: Edith finch then I think I'll return to persona 5

So in between these long games I like to do some bite sized games as pallet cleansers and knocked out two today. Finished What remains of Edith Finch. Really loved it. Really creative and has a strong message it sends. I know huber streamed his full playthrough so I'll need to go and watch it now that I've played it. The one thought that I kept going back to with the game was how I wished it had a vr mode option for the game. It'd have been amazing. It's 2-2.5 hours. Perfect length, thatfirst person perspective and not twitchy movement. Seems like a great fit.

Then after seeing so much buzz for it but noone ver seemingly providing details as to why, I did a full playthrough of Doki Doki Literature Club. Really cool game. I know ben expressed interest in playing it and I hope he does as I'd like his take on it. It's free and only 4 hours long.

Now it's time for finish the last chapter of Paper Mario TTYD, and then I think it's time to go back to Persona 5. I'm early in the game and fell out due to other games popping up. It's time to spend next week going into some long play sessions and dig in

I played through Inside and Abzu yesterday.
Inside was an awesome 3 hours. Playdead knows how to make video games.
Abzu was ok. I felt like I really went on a Journey after I finished Journey. I felt like... I swimmed around a couple of lakes after I finished Abzu. the ending was a nice little bump up in excitement tho.

so when are we doing GOTY 2016 voting?

I'm not sure what the message was, but I did enjoy Edith Finch. It was a delight that I didn't expect to enjoy.

I've started playing Wolfenstein 2 and I'm having fun with it. I've decided to play it for the story so I didn't know how I'll feel about the gameplay, so far it's hooked me more. As someone who doesn't play shooters I assume this is how classic shooters felt. I'm spam saving because I'm an utter noob (playing on Don't Hurt Me). I found some parts of the story to be a bit more cartoony than I expected.
And I'm almost done(?) with Steamworld Dig 2. The grappling hook is really satisfying. Besides that it's very similar to the first, which is still great. I don't like how the lead character is an offspring of Crazy Frog and a ReBoot character :X

From Huber's list: I have to play Persona 5 and Titanfall 2 next year, unless I hear more P5G rumors :p
Ruiner and AC Origins are maybes. For Honor and Watchdogs 2 I'd rather wait for sequels.

I just finished playing through this about half an hour ago and am quite eager to give it another go and see how differently things can play out.

I would say that this game is the undertale of virtual novels if thats helpful for anyone. Much like how undertale completely subverts what I thought a jrpg could be this game does the same thing for virtual novels. It's worth mentioning that this is the first virtual novel I've ever really played for more than a couple hours.

90 seconds in and I am already loving this, haha :D

I love this game, I put it in my GOTY list. Yeah it's a joke game like QWOP but man after a while all you see is the mountain you have to climb, and all it takes to overcome the challenge. If you get into it, it becomes a really great video game. Also love the atmosphere, with the quotes or the music when you fail (which they muted here).

I assume he doesn't know much about it, but I'm slightly disappointed Kyle didn't mention Catherine's competitive scene when talking about the game.
Going by the press release it sounds like they added the online mode *because* of the competitive scene in the West. Between that and Atlus sponsoring a tournament a year or two ago it looks like they're making a push for Catherine to have a bigger presence in tournaments

From Huber's list: I have to play Persona 5 and Titanfall 2 next year, unless I hear more P5G rumors :p
P5 came out in the West this year and in Japan late last year, I doubt it's getting the Golden treatment for at least a couple years

This is the only game that I legitimately liked but gave up. The mountain broke me, couldn't even get past first "area". After like 90 minutes of virtually no progress I had to make a decision: Spend 200 hours raging at this game or do something else and never come back. I chose option 2, but I still recommend this game to everyone. It's too good, and the dev quotes whenever you fall are hilarious. But I gave up. Bennett Foddy won.

EDIT: holy shit 1 minute in the video and I already lost it.

Just like Kyle.

The only thing I dont like about Or Wars is how arbitrary the winner is. I think they should release a poll on who they thought won the or wars and see if it differs from Kyle.

I have a 100% miss rate of "X definitely won Or Wars this week!" and Y or Z wins.

Great Easy Update lol, I was laughing basically as soon as the game started, so I would have failed pretty quick.

I wonder if Ben is catching up on Dragon Ball Super during the break like he said he would?

I'm only thinking of it cause... I just watched like 100 episodes of Naruto... and it was all because of Huber.

As an aside, Merry Christmas Allies!

Happy holidays everyone!

I'm going to be very, very busy. I have Mario + Rabbids, Pyre, Hollow Knight, Night in the Woods, Thimbleweed Park, Rime, two episodes of Life is Strange and of course the cherry on the top, Breath of the Wild to play before Resetera Goty voting ends. As these are all games that are possibly pushing themselves on my current TOP 10. Though I know already that I'm not atleast finishing all of these before that. I feel like I should prioritize the shorter ones and leave BotW for last. Kinda happy that I haven't bought Divinity OS2 yet =P

Or, alternatively... play BotW first and leave the others for later. :P

Haha, well yeah that crossed my mind too =P But I just want to get through or atleast get a decent taste of multiple games before I enter my ballot for the voting. Though it pains me that there are still like 10 more games that I don't even own and would be likely contenders for the list (Would love to play Yakuza but don't have PS4). I've already made some hard choices what to drop from my current TOP 10. This has been such a great year. Heavy hitters on many different genres. I already decided that I won't include re-releases/remasters/late ports. Sorry Bayonetta, you are exquisite.

Watching Spoiler Mode again. I really feel like Damiani and Jones nitpick at a lot of stuff. I mean, sure, I guess Snoke could have been someone in makeup. But does that really take you out of the movie?

And he seemed to completely forget that Kylo blamed Snoke's death on Rey. One of the first issues he had was that others followed him but he forgot an important plot point.

And Jones asking who Snoke's guards were, if they were trained and such. ... Who cares? They're just his guards.

Huber is so dead on. Snoke's past means absolutely nothing to Rey or these characters. It's just something fans wanted to know but it's not important to the story they're telling.

The high standard that Snoke is being held to is weird to me. Did anyone give a shit about the Emperor's backstory in the OT?
