Picked up a 64 GB on Monday

Man this thing is just great

Loving the form factor and the screen; don't even notice the notch and Face ID is so nice

No complaints here

What are people doing for cases? Currently just using the Apple Leather, not going crazy about it, but I guess it gets the job done.

Also - as this is the first time I'm rejoining the apple since iPhone 4(?), I have to ask - is there any easy method of moving my songs over (iTunes incorrectly flags songs here and there).

I'm using the dark blue apple leather and love it. Up until this one, I was using Sena cases but didn't find anything I liked. The Apple one is great.

So I've notice that sometimes my iPhone's speakers pop or something for no particular reason?
Like when opening Tweetbot, sometimes I can hear a loud single "pop" every single time I open it. Other times it doesn't pop.
A similar thing happens at the start of some YouTube videos too. Super annoying.
Anybody else has experienced something similar? Should I contact support? Go to my local Apple Store?

About a month of use and I'm loving this phone. I would prefer the screenshot button to be audio down + standby button though. Picking up the phone, it's very easy to accidently screenshot when gripping. So many pics of my homescreen.

If you give me a youtube link that pops, I can test mine for you

Convinced myself that I don't need jailbreak, but now that it's just around the corner, I do regret not downgrading to 11.1.2 in time.

A few tweaks would improve this phone so much.

Just scooped AirPods for my little sister. Figure high schoolers will go nuts for that kind of shit.

It's almost every video. I hear a pop the second just before the video actually starts.

I have it too! It's a low bop, like a thud. It might be the youtube app, it's every video. I'm not getting it when I play Giant bomb videos with GB video buddy app.

Also, it pops only after I switch videos in the yt app, then every video after. If I exit the app, and clear it from the app switch thing, reopening it, the first video doesn't pop.

So I tried taking some photos at a Christmas light festival tonight, and they turned out like absolute shit. Trying with the flash on and off, my girlfriend and I were so dark under an arch of lights you could barely see it. I tried to force a photo with flash on and it barely changed the lighting. Is this HDRs fault? I realized after we left I didn't have the option ticked to keep the normal photo.

My sister then used her iPhone 8 Plus with the flash on and the photo turned out great.

You sure you didn't have Portrait mode lighting on?

I don't have an iPhone X, but I do have an iPad with something similar to what you described. My understanding is that it's literally the sound of the audio channel opening. Do you also hear it after the video finishes?

So - I have not used or even unboxed the airpods (have been using my iPhone X for about 2 weeks). I'm deathly afraid of losing airpods - how do you guys manage it?
I just... look after them? I put them in the case literally whenever I'm not using them. Only time I've ever had an "oh god" moment was when I woke up after falling asleep with them in and they were not in my ears. One was in the middle of the bed, the other under it lmao

If portrait mode doesn't detect any clear objects to focus on to base depth it doesn't blur out the background.
Definitely not picture mode. Just looked at it again in Photos and it doesn't have the "portrait" tag on the photo. I'll post what it looks like in a second.

WTF? Is there something wrong with my X camera? Is it because maybe on my X the person taking the photo didn't tap the screen around us? With phones now having auto focus, I'm not sure what tapping the screen does honestly.

Looks like the flash on your X is out of sync with the camera. Annoying advice, but restart your phone or at the very least try to force close and reopen the camera app. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to tap (or even tap and hold) on the photo subject to get more accurate focus and exposure, but yeah that's a situation where you definitely shouldn't need to do anything to get a better result.

How does the flash get out of sync with the camera?

I wouldn't know, could be a simple bug where the shutter is opening a split second too late. iOS 11 has had some bugs, to say the least. But yeah, restart and try on other situations to check for persistence. If it persists, then you should get support from Apple.

So I was a bit mistaken, my sisters phone is the 7 Plus, not the 8 plus.

So with that in mind, is this normal? Is this because of the "slow sync flash" thing that the 8 and X have?

Do you have anymore examples besides the one picture? If it's happening with all of your pictures, there's probably something wrong with your phone.

I'd take a few pictures showing the flaw, so I'd have something to show the Apple Store employee.

Unfortunately no. I took a photo this morning in the dark and the flash was fine. Thought it wasn't the same kind of scene with Christmas lights, it was just dark

Could be the slow sync flash either mistiming or not going back that far, but honestly it doesn't look like the flash was on at all?

One thing to note. The iPhone X photo, you two seem to be further away from the camera than the iPhone 7 Plus photo. It does look like the flash did not go off regardless, but obviously distance will play a factor. Also in those lighting conditions, regardless flash or not, the photos aren't going to look good.

I feel like I've taken like 50 accidental screenshots on my phone since getting it. Makes for some jarring album browsing.

Same. Maybe it would be better if you had to hold those two buttons for a bit, rather than just the push=screenshot

Edit: actually that doesn't work because sometimes depending on what you're capturing you might need an insta-screenshot. So I dunno.

the fact that Apple is forcing developers to switch to 64 bit is insane. At least google guided the developers from 32 bit to 64 bit with the ability to still use 32 bit. I can't even install the most apps on old apple devices like Netflix ;/

Last I heard, they aren't forcing developers to 64-bit only yet? They're required to have 64-bit builds, but they aren't required to not ship 32-bit binaries alongside the 64-bit ones.

Enjoying my X but dam the power button and volume button at opposite sides annoys the hell out of me as I keep randomly taking screen shots!

But do I feel it's work the £1k? Nope

Turns out my little sister didn't want the AirPods, so I returned them. They'll make someone else very happy. I'm proud of her for not falling for them. Now crossing my fingers she doesn't ask for Beats instead...

most companies might not be so caring to do that but I hope they will ship both... I was trying to play flappy bird on ios 10 and it said "not supported on "IOS10" :( and yeah it hasn't been updated in ages but come on...

I really just wish apple treated everything universally like android does.

Kids her age love getting shit just to show off. That, and assuming they're great just because they're AirPods. I wasn't satisfied with their sound quality and could never in hell justify paying that much for them.

They're not for sound quality, they're for the convenience. No cords/wires. W1 chip pairs instantly once and then you can easily connect to all devices. Good battery life. Easy to carry case. Comfortable.

It's not insane. Apple prepped everyone for it for years.

The reason Apple stuff can be so good is that they don't hold onto cruft. They cut and their products are so much better for it. Goodbye CD drives, goodbye aux jacks, goodbye 32 bit builds.

Bought a 64 GB, Space Grey, X yesterday. Absolutely loving the movement geustures, and how fluid the phone is. Am I crazy or is the Apple upgrade program a decent deal? 12 months of payments and then you get to upgrade to the next iPhone plus the sales tax seems like a deal to me especially since i use my phone so much.
