Like me.
I'm going to finish the Vita collection but will opt out of a full LRG Switch collection whenever those are available. This ridiculous edition has confirmed it for me.

I was grabbing alt covers and stuff until I saw how crazy that was and jumped off. I think Mecho Tales is a good jumping off point for all the "full set" thoughts. Good b/c the volume is higher than I anticipated, and I'm not satisfied with game quality in a lot of cases so it's just clutter going forward.

I mean just don't buy it...? I'm sure there will be plenty of people who still buy the dev edition and if that turns out to be true I don't get why LRG and the dev shouldn't do it. There's a demand? Satisfy it.

But hey good that you guys decided not to do it anymore. Your business, you run it how you want.

I have zero interest in Mecho tales but I'm not going to waste time telling you what to do or what not to do with a game I have zero interest in.

I think the risk with the big collectors is that they are in or out. Due to whatever underlying disorder is in play, it's all or nothing (part of this is a joke, but I think there is some truth to it) so wearing the relationship too thin with those types is bad.

Personally I think I'll just stop buying them and start hoarding dogs and cats or something instead.

There's a demand for $10 slip covers? I guess.
That's really the only thing that irks me here. Sure they had variants before, but they were the same price. And they had CE's of varying quality, but at least you did get a box and items as extras.

Here it's purely a $10 slipcover for the sake of "dev charity". Give me a break.

And don't forget that they recently made a comment that they were aware of the (appearance of) "milking' and were trying to rein it in. Now they are taking it a step further.

I don't have to buy anything I don't want to buy. This is as true as when I worked at Electronics Boutique back in the day as it is now. At this point I've given up on maintaining a complete PS4 LRG collection so if there are games that don't interest me it just counts as a week off.

Switch, though, that's going to kill me. All the Switch games!

I'm glad I got out of the LRG game about six months ago. I buy the majority of LRG stuff on Steam for extremely cheap. I truly feel the completionists.

No need to get so defensive. People are busy and might have things to do on weekends. I am not setting up alarms to snatch up copies of games, I have other things on my mind.

i'm not being defensive, i'm just saying that people like you always come in here and complain they were unable to get a game when it didn't sellout until 12/24/48 hours later, in those hours it was in stock you were probably looking at posts on Era

I broke my complete collection this past Summer and looking back I shouldn't have waited so long. Not liking many of the recent changes. I was there on Day 1 and still hope some big releases will happen, but I'm sad to say I agree with raketenrolf that when I hear about a new Indie game I hope it gets a physical release through other companies before LRG.

Since we're sharing, I broke my complete set when Skull Girls was a pre-order, Silver Case CE came out on PS4 immediately after LRG's PC version, and 4 to 6 games were releasing per month.

Trust me you guys will all be happier when you get out of the completionist game and just buy the ones you actually like because of the game, or the contents, or the art, not just because you have to have everything.

But hey if you are a millionaire or something keep on keeping on. Those aren't the people who are complaining about these decisions though.

I broke the streak with Lost Seas way back when and don't regret it at all. Though, to be fair, I've never bought Vita releases unless it was the only platform being sold.

Can someone please explain to me what the big deal is about this game coming out? I know that Plague Road looks godawful and hideous, but that seems to be no different than several other LRG games they've released that are so-so to meh quality. Where did this controversy come from? I'm really out of the loop and while I think the LE for Mecho Tales is not nearly as pretty or as worth it as the LE for Lili, the Vita cover looks 100000x better than the Plague Road cover.

Personally I'm aiming for the grab boxes on NYD and will also hope for the best in terms of rerun games

No one cares that this game is coming out.
You could say that for any game they released in the past year...? I didn't care for Plague Road, Aqua Kitty or Broken Age as they weren't my type of game, so I just skipped them instead of throwing a fit. I also skipped games like Flinthook and that unpronounceable action game that launched with Astebreed but regret doing so for those two (especially FH after hearing great things about it)

I seriously do not get why this game is making people throw fits all of a sudden. There has to be more to this story that I'm not understanding. It shouldn't be that hard to skip a game you don't care for and save yourself the money, and I'm not the only one who just passed on a game they didn't care for. If this was the first Switch release (Where those are a lot less common) I can understand that but RN this just reminds me of the old times where people would constantly get upset about the Virtual Console because it wasn't a Mario or Zelda Week.

Is this game supposed to be the The Letter or Blockform of the PS4 that wasn't reported on as much? A horrible game that doesn't deserve to even exist? I know there were a few that launched but this doesn't seem like one of them.

i think people are more concerned about other devs doing this in the future and abusing the ability to charge even more for the game

Am I missing something?
The only issue that I'm seeing is the dumb "developer charity edition".

This isn't an LE. It's just a poorly thought out cash grab.

I'm fine with LRG publishing any game they want.

We aren't doing developer editions again.

We signed this long ago, so long ago we forgot. Discussions happened, ESRB happened, and this was what we could compromise on. 2018 does not represent this release strategy as a whole. This is not going to be repeated.

Part of this comes from an added cost that wasn't there when it was signed.

There is literally nothing I can say to make anyone understand or happy. So I'm done commenting on this. ='(

Just a general piece of advice. You cannot make everyone happy all of the time! Just do your best and make peace with your decisions. It will work out!

Understandable. Doesn't really seem like it's LRG's fault in this case then, but rather a series of bad timing, an odd practice for a not very impressive LE (unlike the Lili one) and just questionable things in general. Still, I don't get the controversy behind Plague Road, outside of the fact that the game looked horribly ugly. Was that all there was to that incident I keep hearing about?

I personally avoided it because of the narrator choice.

I'll skip Yesterday Origins, but just because it already has a PAL release (like RabiRibi). It has a good reputation otherwise :)

It's one of these games that, despite being three months old, have so few reviews on Steam it's clear no one thought it was interesting enough. All the examples you gave had some people genuinely excited by them, even Plague Road at the time. I have yet to see that for Mecho Tales.
But whatever. That release is what it is.

I'm not even sure signing games before they come out is a good idea in most cases :x

I honestly don't get what people are so upset about here. What other publisher has had the requirement that everything they do be to every collector's taste? So what if LRG publishes things that you don't like? Can someone explain how waiting for the next Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap (or equivalent) while not spending money on things you don't want is an issue?

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm very much looking forward to the New Years Day Sale. I shall be spending money on LRG stuff.

Jumping back a few posts but if you guys do some of the big and popular games we were requesting, please for the love of everything do the open preordering. That was so lovely to not have to worry about a 90 second window during a work day.

It's a nice box art, but I wish they went with the JPN one. The art for that seemed more in line with the art in the game.

is that really the cover we're getting? no variants or reverse covers?
Tough choice for them to appease fans here.

Make that the only cover, people complain that it doesn't look good or that the Japanese cover looks way better. (I personally think that the US cover looks great).

Make variant covers and they have another 2064 issue.

Not like a variant will help in any way since they do it randomly. And variant covers aren't immune to be disliked. Variant covers are definitely NOT the way to go.
