This is, outside the fallen hero timeline, one of the first times we've seen Ganon basically be successful for an extended (over 20 year) period of time. Imagine a confident Ganon, a snarky Ganondorf who tells you that you have no chance since he killed you and all your friends 100 years ago. It just seems like such a regression from Ganondorf in OoT, WW, and TP. Heck, even Majora's Mask is more fleshed out and it's an inanimate object for the most part. Demise shows up for 5 mins and he shows Link some respect before he dies, even that's better than this.

If you have the trifecta, Link, Zelda, and Ganon, at least give him one line of dialogue, lol. I suppose though that the major triumph of this game as a whole is that it doesn't matter, the world is your motivation and your challenge.
Yeah, I feel the same. Wind Waker Ganondorf and OoT Ganondorf are my favourite in the series, and even though we didn't get to see too much of Demise, your encounter with him at the end was interesting (and personally, I enjoyed that boss battle more, too - it felt like a real sword fight and was intense).

I think they really wanted to throw out most conventions for this game, though, since they felt the series was getting stale and relied too heavily on old traditions and tropes. I think we've come to expect a certain pattern when it comes to the relationship between Link, Zelda and Ganon(dorf), as well as the structure of the story. I get the line of thinking, and it definitely worked out for the best in most cases. I applaud them for their boldness most of all. Hopefully in future instalments they can bring back some elements that made sense or worked better.

Man I've been enjoying this game so much. I still need to do the sword trials, but I've done the 4 Divine Beasts quests, and did the first part of the new DLC. I ventured into Hyrule castle but decided to leave to get more stuff done. There is just so much to do! I haven't done too many side quests, so I know there is a lot that I'm missing. I can also see a few large chunks of the map I haven't really covered yet (I did unlock all towers, though).

Lynels aren't that hard
Equip your highest damage weapon
Headshot it
Mount and bash it
Repeat

It doesn't even take weapon durability except from your bow

Huh, I figured out the headshot thing, but I just used that to get some good damage in early. I'll have to try mounting!

I wasn't sure where to post this so hopefully someone here can help me.

I bought a switch for my GF as a christmas present and I want to gift her BoTW digitally, its asking for a Nintendo Account before I can access the e-shop but I don't want to use her email address and tip her off to the present. How does the e-shop work in regards to accounts and purchases? Will she be able to keep using the game if I set up a different account with her email address once I give the console to her?

EDIT: NVM, bought her a gift card :)

Sorry, I didn't see this in time. Good to see you were able to come up with a solution. ^^

Just did the first Divine Beast (elephant) and really didn't enjoy it :(

I much prefer the quicker, bite-sized shrines.

Why exactly didn't you like it? Was it too time consuming or perhaps you though it was too difficult? From personal experience I too started with the elephant and it proved to be challenging in the sense that at the time I still didn't fully understand the extent of possible player interaction. In other words, I got stuck many times thinking that something wasn't possible when in fact it was. By the time I got to other Beasts I breezed through them and had a lot of fun solving puzzles that appeared nowhere else.

All Divine Beasts dungeons are similiar in that they employ some gimmick unique to each Beast that helps solve the puzzles. That isn't gonna change, but to be honest the trunk manipulation wasn't the most interesting one. I would suggest heading to another beast in the Rito village - clearing it will grant you a very useful ability.

Hey guys. I'm about 55 hours into this game, making my way slowly through it. I've tried exploring most things by myself, but I have a very general question that I need an answer for: what's the easiest way to create updrafts in this game? So far, I've just been tossing a piece of flint and a few bundles of wood onto grass, but it seems wasteful. I'm sure there's a better way, right? Is there a way to create an updraft on any surface?

Full disclosure: I've only beaten the Zora/Elephant dungeon, so if there's a power that does this, I don't have it yet.

I'm not the best at puzzle solving so I got frustrated and used a guide, whereas the shrines have been mostly within my capabilities.

If none of the runes worked and I was stuck somewhere in a Divine Beast my rule was to use whatever the gimmick there was to see what's gonna happen and then go from there.

I kind of already decided that I'll procrastinate on the other beasts until I'm done adventurin'

I do recommend going to the one that's floating in the sky. It gives you a reward that helps you with exploration. It's also the easiest one, imo.

The Gerudo one is my favourite, though, and it being the hardest played a role in that.

I just spent too much time dropping mighty bananas in front of a bunch of Sheikah in Kakariko Village but sadly none of them reacted. I was hoping for a little easter egg. It seems modern Sheikah are over their ancestors' banana addiction.

Not sure how long I've been playing for but I'm finally at the point where I can challenge my first divine beast, the Gerudo one.

I don't know if that's a good idea right now though.. I only have 5 hearts and a lot of the enemies are killing me in one hit.

Got all the divine beasts. If there's anything else y'all recommend I do before storming the castle (aside from koroks and shrines) feel free to let me know.

Might do more side quests and ACTUAL shrine quests now.

First time posting in here so I apologise if you mentioned doing this already a while back, but, did you complete the album of memories that Impa put upon you by visiting the spots shown on the camera? If not, I'd definitely recommend doing that before taking on the castle. If you have, then have you completed Tarrey Town?

I just finished the Camel beast and absolutely hated it. It was tedious even following a sped-up YouTube guide. The flying bird one wasn't so bad.

It's interesting how that one either ends up being everyone's least or most favourite. I personally enjoyed it since it was the most challenging, and it had the most interesting lead-up compared to the others.

I just found Tarrey Town last night and I'm halfway through pictures, almost halfway through side quests and 50 something shrines. I'm def gonna max out hearts and stamina. Kinda tempted to buy the dlc and do that first before fighting Ganon.

Hmm... The biggest problem I have with outright recommending the DLC pass is just that, you have to purchase it all. A large chunk is costumes that harken back to the older games with some unique buffs, but at 4 divine beasts in and 50 shrines they won't be worth anything more to you than sentimental gain (they can't be upgraded for instance). As for quests, did you try Eventide isle? I ask as both dlc releases lean heavily on challenging the player a lot more than the base game, with only a trickle of extra 'Zelda' style content. It'd boil down to you wanting to push what you've already mastered before wrapping the game up. From the sounds of things you certainly aren't underlevelled to handle it

Yup def one of my fav shrine quests. Challenging, and rewarding. Plus I needed to do it to farm those arrows lol. If that's how the master trials are I just might dive in, because I'm not too fond of the current status of my sword. Also, I still haven't done those mazes.

I guess I just don't want the game to end, because fighting Ganon to me, will be when I put the game down.

Also, that motorcycle looks awesome haha.

Then go nuts! the DLC is definitely for you. Just finished the Master trials recently and it has to be one of the more memorable challenges I had with a game for a while. You'll love it.

Definitely recommend doing the DLC, especially the Champions' Ballad.

Too bad you already did the divine beasts, now you are locked from the boss rush at the castle. I actually went to the castle early and it was amazing. In fact there is no reason not to go to the castle asap there are many quest that require you to step into the castle. Go to the castle and the after beating it continue your adventure in the world.

My latest attempt at the game has been going well this time around, I'm at 3/4 beasts with lava-lizard to go.

Some things continue to be disappointing, many cool little environmental puzzles just end in a shrine that gives you some throwaway thing. Finally figured out how to get into the first "Spring of whatever" and was expecting something that would last me longer, oh well. Mostly just the beasts themselves, master sword, and great fairy equipment upgrading has kept me motivated. Found all the memories too and I maybe need to watch them again in order, as a mish mash they were kinda bleh.

How do you guys handle the rain? If I'm in the middle of climbing a cliff and it starts raining, I've taken to doing other things with my life (making a cup of tea, etc) and letting the rain wear off. Sad but true.

You have a weather forecast on the ui. Just find cover and skip the rain. And plan your game around the weather forecast, dont start climbing when rain is coming soon, skip time first

When you have more stamina, you can handle most surfaces when it's raining, unless it's a really long climb. What I do is climb 2-3 times, then leap just before I slip. Rinse and repeat. Otherwise I try to find cover and make a fire to pass time.

For me it's a mixture of what people posted before me here, and using an overabundance of stamina replenishing foods or potions; restless crickets are all over the land, a few of them with any halfway decent monster parts and you're good for most surfaces.

Yes, this too. I have to make use of stamina potions/food buffs sometimes.

Anything in the South-Eastern corner of the map, that is to say Lake Hylia into Faron and the coastline around it. I spent damn near a whole week breaking my teeth on all this game had to offer in that area. Fantastic spectacles, a plethora of great quests that play with the environment and game mechanics more than a lot of other areas do, Eventide, the two neighbouring regions are like a mini map that could pass as a great little sandbox game in and of itself.

Beyond that, Satori Mountain and the surrounding forests and plains became another little time sink that halted near any major progress I was making.

Guess it's better to ask here
I'm still at the start of the game and reach Kakariko village, what is safe to sell? I've got some gemstones and mechanical scrap.

Both are used to make or upgrade weapons. The Guardian parts are used to make weapons that are better at killing the guardians and armor that is more resistant against them.

I'd say sell some gemstones, but keep a few just in case. Hold off on selling the guardian mechanical parts for now unless you think you can take the guardians easier in some other way

Thanks for the info mate. I'm bound to find some more gemstones over time so I could sell some for now and get some equipment.
