regarding tlj:

i'm pretty sure everyone failed in empire strikes back too. and it was awesome. and you had questions. and you felt like the characters all grew, even through failure. and FUCK I gotta see the next one!

everyone failed in the last jedi and it was... messy. and kinda bad. and not exciting. and i don't look forward to the next one.

Original Trilogy was more grounded when it came to the Force and that is that when it comes to the Force in the OT.

The Prequels cranked up the physicality of the Force skills while the New Prequel now blesses characters who have to Force to skip training and just be Over Powered.

Can't compare Luke and Vader from the OT where there Force was more subtle with how the Force is being portrayed in later movies
Power creep is definitely a thing.

But no one in the world is unironically saying that the PT is better than the ST, at least cinematographically, so i don't really see the point of that.

I wouldn't count on that.

I genuinely have not read, seen, or heard ANYONE say TLJ is as bad as the Prequels. I've heard people say it's destroyed their childhood and SW. (quite extreme)

But no one that I've seen (and I've read many, many posts on this movie) has actually said it's worse than the PT.

So whatever that thread of tweets was about was just someone ranting about probably no one. And is being disingenuous about the genuine problems reasonable people have about the movie.

You can find such posts here. (I'm too lazy and inept to search and cite them)

He's saying that the prequels are so shitty that you aren't allowed to complain about the new series.

I get that it's a joke, but it's a weird argument that just because something was shittier that you can't complain. Not to say that I agree with complainers quite yet as I have yet to watch the movie.

There were a couple (three or four from what I remember before I jumped out of there) in the reaction thread saying the only one worse than this one was Attack of the Clones.

Fuck Max Landis anyway. His episode of BOTW is the only one I can't watch again cause he's there.

On the brightside, if these allegations do turn out to be Landis, RLM can flat out shit on him again instead of using niceities because they had him over.

his episode grew on me the more I watched it. His dynamic with the other guys worked really well since his whole schtick wasn't just another deadpan awkward person joke. He was enthusiastic and played really well off Rich by setting him up for the description of the movie with the dude that had a million badges. This is really a shame. I'm willing to overlook shitty political opinions if I like the person's work enough, but sexual abuse is a straight up hell to the no.

If the supposed lost episode with Max Landis never came out due to editing, at this point I think it's safe to say they are better off never releasing it.

The rumors about Max have been floating around a while now but never really been substantiated. Anna Akana knows him personally though, if she's willing to stick her neck out like that I don't have much reason to doubt her. Yikes, Max.

I feel like I had the opposite reaction to a degree in that I found he irritated me more as time went on. I do like the difference his enthusiasm had compared to the others, but it always felt just a bit too over the top. He did introduce the group to Neil Breen though, which was hilarious. Having seen reviews of that guy's other films left me in hope that they might view them on future BOTW. I rather hope that if they did do another episode with him that other Breen films weren't what was viewed.

In terms of guests, he was definitely my least favorite. I can't say who actually is my favorite though as each brings something different to a degree. The Canadians have the most appearances so I suppose them since we've gotten to see them so much. I enjoyed both times Len and Freddie came on though.

I would've been fine with Max not coming on again. I quite hope they make a point of not having him now.

Curious what the theme for this year will be for the Christmas BOTW. Part of me hopes for more Christmas films this time around. There's a bunch of bad Krampus films right? Maybe get something out of that?
