Honestly I think it's pretty bad. I'd rather just eat less real ice cream than a whole pint of this stuff.

Agreed, Like two spoonfuls of 'good' ice cream would satisfy me more than a pint of this stuff. Its just kinda 'icy'. (I also avoid sugar alcohols, the one they use is the easiest to digest though).

I generally use sweeteners rather than sugar, but Halo Top is...really sweet. Like overpowering sweet. I feel like I taste the sweetener more than the flavor.

Don't have an issue with the concept in general, but whooo boy.

Thanks to this thread, I gave it a try and I was blown away. This was much, much better than I expected it to be. I tried three flavors, pistachio, sea salt caramel and caramel machiato. Pistachio was ok, but the other two were really great. It didn't have any of that aftertaste that most diet products have. The texture was spot on, really creamy and great flavor.

I hadn't had any ice cream in 4 months because I have been working on losing a lot of weight/getting healthier( down 55 pounds so far). So this ice cream is like a godsend for me.

I'm visiting my in laws here in the US and I absolutely had to try Halo Top. I have to say, it was really disappointing. I found the texture to be really chalky and dry and the taste is dull. Not a bad option if you want dessert but wanna keep your calories to a minimum but it's definitely not a replacement for traditional ice cream.
Did you try the chocolate flavor? That is notoriously the worst one due to it's weird texture. The one's I've had range from decent to great. I recently tried the chocolate banana flavor and it's really sweet. Probably too sweet for me. I think Strawberry is my favorite at the moment. Oatmeal Cookie was also delicious but I was stoned when I ate it, so

Yeah chocolate was really disappointing, it tastes like powdered dark chocolate.

It seems like some of the more liked flavours, like Red Velvet or Chocolate Banana, were out of stock. I don't think I saw any of the ones you mentioned at the store.

Again if you are complaining about texture you *need* to let it sit out at least 10 mins first. It will have a slightly thicker froyo texture at proper temp.

Halo Top is awesome! The crazy amount of few calories is fantastic because I can now occasionally justify one of these pints of ice cream and not feel like I've thrown away several days at the gym.

Not to mention that, while some flavors aren't quite as good as their non-Halo counterparts tend to be (Birthday Cake for example, is good, but the texture is kinda strange), some of their flavors are truly and honestly amazing, like Oatmeal Cookie.

I enjoy halo top. The flavor is good. The ice cream itself has a slightly different texture but still pretty good. The calorie count is also great. I do have to drink a glass of water after eating it though. Just tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and is now my go to ice cream. Although i let it soften a little before eating.

Yup, I made the mistake of digging in one time and hated it but once it sits a few minutes it's just like normal ice cream and even with the bad texture, I'll take a whole point for 250 cals over the other kinds with 1200+

I tried a few flavors this month/last month. Peanut Butter Cup, Smore's and Oatmeal Cookie. As someone who adores peanut butter the ice cream was just okay, had a more artificial peanut butter taste that many products have but wasn't that bad overall. The Oatmeal cookie one was really good but my favorite had to be the Smore's flavor by far, one of the best ice creams I ever had. Had to let them thaw out for about 45 minutes as none of the flavors really tasted all that good until it had a very creamy texture after thawing.

So Halo Top is finally available in Canada, and I decided to give it another go and bought the Caramel Macchiato flavour.

...This shit is good, way better than the chocolate one I tried in the States. This one is actually creamy rather than chalky like chocolate.

Love this stuff. Regular ice cream us heavy for me. I necer finish even a pint. Halo top is very light. Plus I love the green tea motchi ice cream that has that light jasmine taste. So good since I live jasmine milk tea.

Local grocery store was unloading holiday flavors not too long ago for $1.50, I went nuts and had pumpkin pie and gingerbread for weeks... Was awesome.

Had this a couple of times, the peanut butter and mint chocolate chip.

Not impressed, its like 5 dollars a pint too.

My thing about eating junk food, if you are going to eat junk food, go all the way but in moderation.

If it was cheap...I might pick it up more despite the severe drop in taste quality, but its not even cheap!

This stuff was so overrated. Bought a bunch of flavors once they came to Canada and they are all so overbearingly sweet.

I find it way sweeter than regular ice cream. That flavour in particular was almost inedible to me. I usually buy the no sugar added Ice cream that Chapman's makes which I prefer to this.

You guys try the Pancakes and Waffles yet? Good stuff. I accidentally bought the dairy-free version once and it's pretty good too.

I really like the oatmeal cookie flavor. Nutrition wise this is better for you (er, not as bad for you) as a typical smoothie at Smoothie King. More protein yet less calories and sugar.

Heard about the Halo Top hype and tried the Mochi Green Tea one. My boyfriend and I had two bites, looked at each other in disgust and threw out the whole pint. Not knocking the whole brand though. Would be willing to try other flavors. Just a bad first impression.

this is my favorite too. it really captures the oatmeal cookie experience.

agree with everyone advising the thaw period of 10-20 minutes.

They're just rebranded generic "ice milk" that you can at grocery stores for $5CAD for 4 litres. They skimp on premium ingredients and them sweat chunks to hit calorie limits. Lol at $7CAD for 500 calories of sad diet food. They're also technically "diary treat" because it can't be legally labelled as ice cream (need full fat milk) which is me being pedantic. Mainly I'm just pissed it's in Canada now and I might have to divert BenJerry and Haagen Dazs funds for this shit because the GF likes it. If you're on a diet, go get some ice milk, then hit up a bulk ingredient place and mix your own.

Anyone try the new Blueberry Crumble seasonal flavor? Still sad I never got to try pumpkin pie, since it was hard to find in my area.

I can't stand this stuff. I'd much rather budget extra calories and go get some good ice cream or frozen yogurt. I've tried it several times with different flavors and it always tastes like flaky ice chucks with a hint of the flavor they claim. Ice cream is supposed to be creamy not chunky.

This is how my first experience with Halo Top was like as well, the ice cream was really flaky and dry and chalky, it wasn't that great. However, the one I got today is as creamy as regular ice cream, it's really good. I don't understand why the texture of the two flavours is so wildly different.

I've had 3 different pints, thought they all had a horrid foamy yet icey texture. The flavor was poor to okay. I'd much rather get either Dryers/Eddy's light slow-churned and just eat less or eat actual healthy food.

When I have a sweet craving I get a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder, put that in a blender with a frozen banana, a date, spoon of PB, ice, and some almond or coconut milk and it's delicious. Full of protein, fiber, vitamins, and it's sweet, but not from corn syrup or added sugars.

Someone I know was going apeshit over this on social media, saying she'd bought 8 of them. I hadn't heard of them before and still don't know much about it, but I wouldn't mind trying it sometime. I do eat too much ice cream, and need to lose weight, not to mention severely cut the amount of sugar I intake.

She dropped a lot of weight and though I thought she was cute before, she's now stunning. She only seems to eat healthy food now, so I guess this is good for people who are watching calories.

I probably won't end up bothering with it if it's as expensive as people in this thread are suggesting.

Get it if you see it on offer, it's quite good but really expensive in comparison (Though, not so much to other "tub" brands like Ben + Jerry's)

It feels like it has air injected into it. I found that leaving it to freeze in my own freezer rather than eating it as soon as I got it home made it feel a lot more like real ice-cream rather than a strange "mousse". Either way, it is tasty!

I definitely will if it's on sale for a decent price. I'm just cheap. I usually buy ice cream when it's on sale for a few dollars, and it's nice when the chocolate bar ones go that low. Coffee Crisp and Oreo especially.

It's been out since 2012 and is just coming to Canada?

It's $5.99 for a pint in my area in America. Very expensive for what you get. I only pick it up on sale.

I just found a blog that had a picture of it in a Canadian supermarket, for $7.50 a 'tub.' That's pretty steep. Apparently it's been on sale for $5.99 in some places.

Too rich for my blood.
