What was your recovery period like and how did you feel afterwards? I would be getting mine for hereditary cancer reasons. I have a consult with a genetic counselor (who is also a gynecologist) in two weeks and I'm a little nervous. I'm relieved to hear you say it's been awesome!
Sounds awesome. That shit is so stupid and makes me so mad.
I'm in charge of 6 shops for high level electronics. Weapons Systems, radars, fire control systems, missile launchers, automatic gattling guns. 16 of my 31 techs are female. Not including myself or my direct supervisor who is also a woman. I have a BSEE, she has a BSEE and a BSCE. All of my techs have at a minimum associates in mathematics. Everyone of us has DoL certifications in at a minimum electronics technician and electronics mechanics. And that is just in my professional life. That's not even getting into my hobbies. yeah, we're just all genetically predisposed to not be into this stuff. Fuck you
White knighting is annoying. It's for a few reasons. A lot of is disingenuous. They are the "nice guys" who think coming to women's defense earns them some kind of credibility and they think it will make us swoon all over them. Then there are a lot of dudes who don't understand the issues and nuances. You can often see these guys when they back pedal after making arguments with huge fallacies and are just jumping on because they "respect women" and then there are the dudes who defend women by talking over them, and "Actually"-ing and thinking they know everything. It's rarely an actual empathy.
Yeah, these are mostly my thoughts. I think it's a tricky one. I mean it's good that some men want to defend women, but I do think a decent amount of the time it's disingenuous. Some obviously do it expecting some sort of prize from you.White knighting is a bit weird to me because I don't mind men defending women if they are genuinely being empathic, but it also stems from the idea that women need a strong man to help them instead of being able to defend themselves on their own. I dunno...
Omg. So much this. All the time. And I live being corrected by dudes on issues they have no first hand experience on because they read the Huffington post. The one that bothers me is when guys seem like they're trying to prove that they're not ignorant. They're more interested in telling everyone that they know something about the subject matter than they are in contributing naturally to a conversation or *gasp* knowing when to withhold from a conversation. So they drop in with a smattering of incredibly obvious and patronizing observations and statements. Not because it's new insight, but because they need you to know that they know things.
I recall that once some idiot was talking down to me for "White knighting". He was so sassy and arrogant told me that girls wouldn't care and I shouldnt speak in their place (right, because empathy is unheard of?). He ended his post with something along the lines of "Did you defend your (imaginary) girlfriend enough now?".That's exactly what it is. It's just a bunch oi men, first - assuming you are another guy who is white-knighting, second - talking all over you.

The words "I am female." never felt so statisfying to type and a conversation has never been over faster.
This is the internet, our genders shouldn't matter. This is a place where we all can be truly equal, I don't really understand why people try to force differences upon ourselves. We don't gain anything from it, we lose.
In general I don't mind anyone speaking their mind on any matter, as long as they respect other peoples opinions and don't disregard the opinion of a person with first hand experience.
It really bothers me when people assume your gender on a forum, especially in this forum since all it takes is a click to see if the person has chosen to display their gender or not. People often make that assumption about me, too, particularly in threads that concern women.
The worst kind of posts for me though are the disingenuous ones 'defending' women from other women. Like "I feel so sorry for all of the women who are being shamed for what they wear", and similar arguments in a thread criticising sexually objectifying character designs.
There was a poster that called me a "he" when my handler literally says "Queen". That was an amusing one. Yup, I also really dislike how they appropriate terms like 'slut shaming' in those arguments in defense of fictional characters with no agency.
Ohhhh yeah. "What's wrong if someone wants to go on desert journeys wearing a bustier, exposed thong, thigh-highs, and 4-inch heels? Are we saying they can't present themselves how they want, or be proud of their bodies? Stop shaming these true feminists (who are actually characters in a game and not real people)!"

I will never not laugh at these "arguments", hah. Gotta love dudes explaining to women that these anime boob ladies are the true feminists, not us real women.Ohhhh yeah. What about cosplayers?! What about sex positivity!?I will never not laugh at these "arguments", hah. Gotta love dudes explaining to women that these anime boob ladies are the true feminists, not us real women.

I decided a couple weeks ago I'm going to start assuming users who don't have their gender listed are women, and referring to them as such.
When did you take this picture?!
That happens to me every year. And it doesn't matter if I'm out shopping or online. I inevitably see something I want and nab it.I went out shopping for my mom and ended up buying more stuff for myself oops...

Are you OK?
I never actively decided to do so, but I am more often than not assuming that a person is female (and in the end it turns out they are male). Although I do have to admit that I already had a few situations (you can count those with one hand though) where I thought "Oh well he has a strange point of view" and it turned out to be a woman.I decided a couple weeks ago I'm going to start assuming users who don't have their gender listed are women, and referring to them as such.
This is such a forum topic. Probably filled with guys too, whilst any girls browse from the sidelines and say "this is why I don't date forum posters".
Well, despite my pathetic post last night, I persevered and was finally able to see my beloved cousin for the first time in almost 8 years today. <3<3<3<3
I did, thank you! :)That's great news, I'm happy for you! Hope you had a good time! ^_^
Via Facebook, yeah. But she was a little girl then and now she is a young woman in college. :OOh wow. That's such a long time. I'm basically a completely different person from who I was eight years ago. Did you keep in touch at least?
Aww. I wish I had cousins who were younger still. I'm glad you had a good time with her.Via Facebook, yeah. But she was a little girl then and now she is a young woman in college. :O
Yeah, I've seen some men use that for a while now in arguments. They get the approval of a women they know personally to try and give their sexist views some substance, be it their wife, girlfriend, sister, etc.New pet peeve. Straight men in a relationship who think they speak for women because they asked their significant other an out of context question and got tacit approval endorsing their shitty politics. "I asked my wife what she thinks and she agrees with me!"
The "I have a black friend" tactic. It's gross.Yeah, I've seen some men use that for a while now in arguments. They get the approval of a women they know personally to try and give their sexist views some substance, be it their wife, girlfriend, sister, etc.
I also never believe it. They are pure fabrications. No woman is looking at XC2 and saying "yeah, that's fine, what's the problem"
My wife says your wife is an idiot, as proof, see the fact that she married you.It takes a lot of power within me to resist the urge to drive-by post with just a singular "So?" when I see the "well my wife says you're wrong" posts.
Yeah, but how do you call them out on that? It normally doesn't feel worth the trouble to ask them to prove a real woman gave that input.I also never believe it. They are pure fabrications. No woman is looking at XC2 and saying "yeah, that's fine, what's the problem"
Yay! I got my second tattoo on the side of my hip. It's a unicorn head, and it's just high enough up that you can see it over the hem of jeans if I wear a crop top or a split side top.I'm getting my first tattoo and trying to decide on placement. I'm thinking the hip area, but I can't decide if I should do it more to the side or kind of right next to the pelvic bone in front (maybe that's more of a stomach tattoo). Anyone more experienced with tattoos have advice or opinions?
Oh, wow. That's beautiful. That must have taken so long to get done :OI think on the side would be cute. I like thigh tattoos a lot.
This is what I had done a couple months ago. I need to get a recent pic of it.
