Lol. Sentiments in this thread bringing me back to when GTA San Andreas received 10s and people went ballistic.
"A 10!?!? But 10/10 is 100%! 100% = perfect! But this game has graphical issues! It's impossible to be a 10!"
PUBG was a fucking juggernaut, the likes that hasn't been seen since Call of Duty 4, which totally dominated the multiplayer shooter scene and will surely influence the design of games in multiple genres for years to come. The experience of playing is good enough to make any graphical glitches negligible, clearly, as evidenced by the thousands of people playing at any given time.
Games like this don't come along very often, so the 10 is more than justified.

Realistically this releasing next year wouldn't do much. If a gaming site wanted to give it to pubg this year they would have jumped through mental hoops to do it. Multiplayer games are fighting a tough battle against single player titles to get awards for many. Next year I can see another major single player title winning most goty awards.
Nobody will be talking about PUBG this time next year, gotta strike while that iron is still hot
I don't think anyone playing the game actually cares whether BOTW won GOTY or not. They're still having just as much fun if not more due to the new map.
Strike what iron? The game is already selling dozens of millions and is a huge success. They've already struck the iron. This 1.0 release doesn't really change much.
Yeah but if something becomes a phenomenon that people are sinking hundreds of hours into inspite of some issues, does that not mean that the fun makes it a 10?

I think PUBG is a far better game than many traditionally polished releases that score highly.
Still probably around that. It only goes down in the starting area. That's honestly about it now. WAY better than before performance wise

I got a GTX 1060 (Nvidia usually performs better in UE games) and I have to play on medium to get a stable 60 fps.
100+ means that it never drops under 100. Usually 144 (capped, maybe more), in the worst situations goes around 100.. it's 60/70 in lobby, facing 100 people.
1080p, 100 resolutionquality, 110% screen scale, aa on high (with the patch they did today, the one before was weird), everything else on low except textures on high and hbao+ untill they will let you disable it again.

Did we play the same test version? Performance jumped up yes, but it's far from great.
Just give every game a 10/10. Every game will be a timeless masterpiece then.

You really cant use a hardcore game site like here to judge it. Games like persona and Dark souls are considered the holy grails around here.
PUBG is without a doubt the biggest game this year. Sales, impact, culture, everything. Its massive.
The user was banned for amassing multiple warnings and this post (1 month). Don't make baseless accusations against a publication just to rile people up into console war.
It's Polygon, you know. Maybe they gave 10 just to push Xbone.
It's pretty great. Runs pretty darn solid here and I have a mid-range system.
Have you been playing the test build? It runs pretty great/loads fast with an i5-3570 and GTX 760 for me now. Used to run like absolute crap.

Last played it yesterday on the Test server, not sure if an update got released in the last 20h (I think there was one).
Biggest doesn't mean best. Best is opinion. I will no doubt give credit where credit is due, and PUBG is a smash hit.
People asked me this before and of the top of my head I can't name any. Even my personal games I would rate higher then any reviewer are not a 10/10. You can always be better. Simply giving a perfect score reduces the whole scale you use to grade games. 10/10 means perfection in everything, gameplay, story, atmosphere, graphic and other technical stuff. You don't get a perfect score in an exam with multiple mistakes.
If that was the case then BOTW would get the same treatment.
Great Plateau was rough on launch and Korok Forest still has massive frame drops to this day.
Exactly. Zelda had technical issues as well, but these games main goal are executed so grandly it doesn't matter to these reviewers. I think it's a perfectly acceptable score.
Yeah, this would be a hard game to give a score to. It is fucking great, but broken. I would give it a Buy/10.
You do realize this game is bigger than Dota 2 and CS GO combined right now, right?
People will be talking about PUBG for a fuckload of years. It will undoubtedly have 4 million concurrent players before January is over. And with new events and modding tools in the near future, it's only getting bigger.
