After reading this thread, I'm feeling more and more certain that Retro's mystery project is going to be some sort of sci-fi game with a heavy focus on online multiplayer.
Oh neat my account just got approved, trying to figure out where the 3rd party switch game thread is but since i can't make a thread just gonna say that i heard from a good source that Dark Souls Remaster is coming to the switch and other platforms next year.

and it will end up being the polar opposite.After reading this thread, I'm feeling more and more certain that Retro's mystery project is going to be some sort of sci-fi game with a heavy focus on online multiplayer.
Am I missing something? Where did the Sci-fi speculation come from?After reading this thread, I'm feeling more and more certain that Retro's mystery project is going to be some sort of sci-fi game with a heavy focus on online multiplayer.

Wouldn't they have said 2018 if MP4 was that far along?My completely arbitrary prediction for 2018 Nintendo (in predicted released order):
Kirby Star Allies (HAL Lab)
Smash Bros for Switch (Sora / Namco ?)
Yoshi Switch (Good Feel)
Fire Emblem (Intelligent Systems)
Luigi's Mansion 3 (Next Level Games)
Mystery Retro IP (Retro Studios)
2D Super MARIO Bros. (EPD 4)
Metroid Prime 4 (New EPD Team)
the problem with this is that he's not just a composer but does other audio stuff. so there's a chance he's not doing a thing with composing but mixing and all thatAlexander Brandon, the composer of both Deus Ex and Unreal, is working with Retro. Could easily not be sci-fi, but still, looking at his body of work...
Hmm. Since she's an admin I'm not sure if it's kosher to still talk about her pre-NX reports, so definitely strike me down if I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, remember how Emily Rogers reported that Nintendo were developing Mario Maker prototypes for Switch, but also cautioned that just because they're in development doesn't mean they'll be released? Considering Mario Maker on 3DS gutted most of the online features despite otherwise being a respectable port, I've always had a personal theory NST were experimenting with porting it to the Switch, but then for whatever reason that was axed and they moved it to 3DS instead. So with that in mind, NST working on Mario Maker 2 would make a lot of sense.
Wouldn't the 2D Zelda team be a candidate for 2018, or did they get absolved into BotW's development? Also do we know if Sakurai's new project is tied to the Smash 4 circle of devs or if it's separate?2018 Candidates for Switch First-Party
Nintendo EPD (Rhythm Tengoku team) ----------> New Project?
Nintendo EPD (Tomodachi/Miitomo team)--------> New Project?
Nintendo EPD (2D Mario team) --------------------> New Project?

Nintendo/Sora/Bandai-Namco/Others-------------> Smash DX
Nintendo/Retro Studios--------------------------------> New Project?
Nintendo/NST--------------------------------------------> New Project?
Nintendo/NLG--------------------------------------------> New Project?
Odds are that 50%of the above might surface. Meanwhile, HAL, Intelligent Systems and Good-Feel each have a game listed for Nintendo thus far.
Well animal crossing & pikmin switch are practically confirmedWouldn't the 2D Zelda team be a candidate for 2018, or did they get absolved into BotW's development? Also do we know if Sakurai's new project is tied to the Smash 4 circle of devs or if it's separate?
a smash 4 port is super likelyHey guys I just bought a switch tonight.
What are the chances of seeing some kind of Smash 4 port or even a new Smash game in the coming year do y'all think?

I recall that Hiromasa Shikata, Tri Force Heroes' director, was working on 1-2 Switch so it suggests the secondary Zelda team probably wouldn't be free for 2018. Even if there would be a new director, it would likely be someone who worked as a lead on Breath of the Wild.Wouldn't the 2D Zelda team be a candidate for 2018, or did they get absolved into BotW's development? it would have been likely if it released in 2017. maybe early 2018. but the longer they take the more likely it's probably gonna be a new game
God I hope not. That would be a complete waste of talent.I kind of think the 2D Zelda team is heading the rumored mobile Zelda game (the 5th mobile game).
it doesn't make sense to not to port it since it has content split between two versions , a large amount of DLC and it's one of the most successful wii u game next to mk8it would have been likely if it released in 2017. maybe early 2018. but the longer they take the more likely it's probably gonna be a new game

I'm legitimately surprised they couldn't pump out a Smash 4 port in time for the launch of their Online Subscription Service. I can't see many people paying for it just for Splatoon 2 and ARMs They'll need to rehink their VC approach and offer something substantial down that avenue if they want to entice people to subscribe from Day 1; free NES games aren't going to cut it.For Nintendo's sake, I hope they don't wait too long to release a Smash Bros game.
Smash Bros will have a significant impact on Nintendo's amiibo business and their upcoming online subscription business.
I really wish nintendo would do a remaster of F-zero GX and kid icurus uprising
If they didn't bother making Samus Returns internal, there's no way they're making an FPS internally. EPD is good at globally appealing games; Metroid Prime is not that. I don't expect 4 to do shit in Japan. Better off finding a western team to make a game that's primarily western appealingI really want MP4 to be internal. I want there to be an EPD team invested in the franchise rather than a producer having to wrangle "outside" teams. I'm guessing it isn't internal though.
I need more Luigi's Mansion in my life. Second one was great but the first is one of my favourite games ever. Hopefully Miyamoto's affinity for the series means a Switch game is in the works :PPersonally, I would like to see Next Level Games take another stab at Luigi's Mansion.
Luigi's Mansion is one of those IPs that would benefit tremendously from HD hardware. They could pull off some amazing lighting effects with an HD console.
They could also create some cool HD rumble effects when catching ghosts.

I suppose Camelot and/or Grezzo could swing something in 2018 depending on what it is.
speaking of Grezzo, I'm curious as to what they're up to. Ever Oasis struck me as an "in the meantime" game. I'd like to think they're working on something that's not Zelda now that BotW is out, but at the same time, I kinda think they're the new "handheld" Zelda team, while the old handheld team is making a mobile Zelda game
i get that, but at the same time, I cant imagine why Nintendo wouldnt promote it more if it wasnt an inexpensive in between game. it's an inspired schedule filler, but Nintendo still treated it as such, which is why I think it was something to past the time until everyone's ready to start on their switch gameWith it being their first wholly original game, I didn't get that sense at all.
Yes.I really wish nintendo would do a remaster of F-zero GX and kid icurus uprising
YES.You would waste wishes on remasters/remakes and not full-fledged sequels?
DREAM BIGGER DARLING.

I think a year with Fire Emblem; Kirby; Yoshi; Smash; something(s) among Retro, Pikmin, and Metroid; something, or preferably two things, among Animal Crossing, 2D Mario/Maker, and Pokemon would be the ideal sort of 2018 from Nintendo first party.
The wildcard would be a new IP with the potential to be a Splatoon or a Nintendogs.
