Kinda funny mentioning easy allies a lot in the newest gamescast with Ashley Burch. In the first ten minutes they mentioned that it was weird that EZA streamed the psx conference because of how low key it was. Andy mentioned hanging out with Jones before the psx event began.
Don't think this needs to be said but: Greg wasn't attacking easy allies for streaming psx, It was more of an offhand comment.
Didn't say it was weird but I have not noticed kinda funny mentioning easy allies very often.
I really really hope they release GOTY deliberations this year like GB does. I want nothing more than that this year. :D
IIRC Brandon hinted on the last Cup of Jones that they will do it this time. I sure hope so.Agreed. Not sure why they don't. I don't think they did it last year because they didn't want to ruin the surprise or something.
So....just record it and not stream it.
Unless I'm remembering wrong.
I'm going to push back a bit on the entertainment part just because I wouldn't always call giant bombs goty discussions entertaining but they are always interesting if that makes sense. At the same time I understand why they might not want there deliberation process public because that could lead to people tearing it apart. Making the deliberations public helps people see how you came to the decision you did. I think people (myself included) would have been more willing to accept the last guardian as goty if they had shown how they came to that conclusion instead of it seeming like an off the wall pick. The members did discuss why they picked it as there goty after it was announced but that's not the same. I'm still surprised that TLG got goty seeing how much huber, brad and ian dislike it.With regard to Game of the Year deliberations: Once you make the decision to make those public, it becomes a piece of content. As such, you need to make it entertaining for everyone. To date, GOTY deliberations haven't been made public at either GT or EZA because they, collectively, didn't feel that they were either interested or capable of making those deliberations entertaining. I think this is a fair explanation. No one at EZA is obligated to produce content that they don't want to produce just because another site does it.
At the same time, I take a look at Hall of Greats and how enjoyable those streams are, and I wonder if maybe there's something there, they just haven't cracked that nut yet.

Actually he's said the opposite. He doesn't want to make it public so don't expect it happeningIIRC Brandon hinted on the last Cup of Jones that they will do it this time. I sure hope so.
Nope. Cup of Jones 12/12/17 @13:16Actually he's said the opposite. He doesn't want to make it public so don't expect it happening
Jones said:Some people like controversy, they like turmoil. They like to see debate, they like to see Allies at odds, they like to see the Easy Allies turned into an uneasy alliance, and next to the GOTY deliberations, which we may possibly record and show to all of you in the month of January, if you want that fire, the Hall of Greats is where you can find it.
That didn't happen. Brad loved TLG, it was his second pick behind FFXV (and above Dark Souls 3). Ian and Huber were the only ones who ended up disliking it but they hadn't even played it at that point and who knows if they would've changed things even if they had.I'm going to push back a bit on the entertainment part just because I wouldn't always call giant bombs goty discussions entertaining but they are always interesting if that makes sense. It's not that unusual really. We tend to trust one another's opinions. This year, I likely won't get to spend much (if any) time with Divinity: Original Sin, but if Ben fights for that to get onto the nominee list I'm likely going to trust his judgment on that even if very few of us have had the chance to play it. Of course it depends on how the rest of the games line up, so we'll see how it goes.Guess I mispoke about brad but it's crazy to me that the last guardian was goty if huber, ian and I believe Jones didn't play it then. I remembered that blood, Kyle and damiani (suprisingly) loved it.

EDIT: I'm not sure if I perfectly remember the specifics, but I think Ian had played it and just felt like he was the outlier of the group. Huber I don't think had, and didn't expect to be turned off by it.
Not to put words in Blood's mouth but I think he's elaborated on it before, either here or at the old site. From what I recall, he said there wasn't much debate, it came up and everyone basically agreed on it. If you look at their personal picks last year, it's not much of a surprise seeing as it was Blood, Kyle and Damiani's first pick and Ben and Brad's second pick (though I think Ben retroactively changed it to his first pick on stream).I here you, it's hard to get nine people to agree on pretty much anything, especally video games and I do apreciate eza and by proxy GT for the more divisive choices for goty (as Brandon pointed out on the podcast) I would personally just like to see more of the thought behind the decision.
The return of kyle and Huber full playthroughs might be my favourite thing about EZA year 2
Didn't say it was weird but I have not noticed kinda funny mentioning easy allies very often.
Speaking of, Greg mentioned something about andy building gundams, that would be a fun stream with him on board.
If there is such controversy and turmoil, with the Allies getting heated and being at odds, why not just do a ranked ballot where people vote for their picks and the game with the most votes/highest point total gets GOTY? They can do a podcast/stream where each member gives a short explanation for their top games so everyone's opinions get out there but have the ballot totals be binding.
Don't you know Don is a god?Okay, what in the holy hell was the loud sound that appeared during the Hall of Greats video when Don was putting his tokens in the bag?
Had to work between Christmas and New Year's last year (Bear with me, it was new to me :D) and their daily casts saved me!GB's GOTY Deliberations is a Christmas tradition for me at this point, I'd love to add EZA to that.
Seconding how good Ash was on Friend Code.
I dunno. The format keeps the GB crew exhausted the entire week and that's their full time job.I really really hope they release GOTY deliberations this year like GB does. I want nothing more than that this year. :D
It's all recorded. They release it on the holiday week, so I assume starting Monday? When do Giant Bomb GOTY deliberations start? Never tuned in, but I think I will this time.

I still need to play Wolfenstein beforehand so I only have to skip the Persona 5 parts. The twofriendsguys who told me they can bring me their copy didn't :<
Gotcha. That's when content tends to dry out from most other outlets, so that works out well. Hmm, spoiler wise, I probably only have to be wary of Horizon discussions.
I'm wondering how much GB cut down those deliberations. They had over 25 HOURS of discussions recorded.
I don't think they edit out much of anything. If there was a prolonged silence longer than 30 seconds they might. The point is that they don't edit out anything so you get to see the entire process.I'm wondering how much GB cut down those deliberations. They had over 25 HOURS of discussions recorded.

It's respectable that you acknowledge it! Some people would've doubled down.I actually realized how bad of a post i made only after posting, yep that's my bad.
Good stuff! Honestly I'm fine if Persona 5 doesn't win. It's my favorite game of all time but it's followed by Nier Automata, BotW and Mario Odyssey (which goes to show how good 2017 has been for me) so if any of these games win I'll be happy. I just want that Persona 5 ammunition clip to be loaded with as many rounds as possible so I'm glad Damiani will be playing it. Though them Odyssey/BotW clips are loaded to max capacity.Silfer Good news, Damiani said he'd be finishing Persona 5 (as well as Horizon) before GOTY deliberations.

beautiful. I'd love for them to release an audio so I can listen while I drive in the car. But I'll take a video as well.
