I like how people are actually upset at Vita getting a port. Even if I won't play it on one it seems strange to have issue with it.

Nobody is upset at having more options. People are just wondering why they left out the Switch in particular (plus PC and Xbox One) to include the Vita instead. Seems like a really weird choice. Nobody would bat an eye if it was on the other platforms PLUS the Vita.

Xbox is one thing, but Switch is huge in Japan and with Japanese games in general, so not sure why they would skip it. I get that Vita is still relevant in Japan, but Switch is way bigger right now. Maybe I'm dumb and unfit to lead an organization but if I were a publisher working on remaking a multiplatform game (a relatively cheap effort compared to actual new games) I'd make sure to release it on as many consoles (or at least all the most popular ones) to maximize profits. This is just leaving money on the table.

Atlus are just bizarre like that. They seem to hate the idea of getting more money and more fans experiencing their products.

Because that's where Atlus decided to put the game at. End of story. Doesn't need to be some grand conspiracy or anything. Just like Switch is getting SMT V exclusively. No one is up in arms about that.

Given it's Atlus I'm not surprised at all. They've never been receptive to PC as far as I know. Give them time and I'm sure they'll put everything on the Switch, it's still early days.

Is the 360 version BC with Xbone? Could explain a lack of a port for the current Xbox.

Yes but this is a remake with new content. It's definitely expected to see a Japanese developer give the Xbox the boot but it still kind of sucks I guess

I could rip on the Vita and call it a garbage ass handheld until the cows come home but the fact remains: people in Japan like that thing I guess

Atlus is just weird like that. SMTV is a Switch exclusive while mainline Persona remains on Sony platforms. It's disappointing but that's just how they operate, I guess.

Square does it too. All their major games are only on Sony platforms. X1 gets some stuff. And Nintendo just gets spinoffs and offshoots. It's not weird. It's brand loyalty and console preference with the same audience.

Makes sense from a business standpoint because people buy consoles for exclusives alongside audiences who are already part of that audience so it makes the most sales by being on one platform since the entire audience is there.

Most games are not going to come to Switch or X1. It's time people just deal with that.

As for Xbox, yeah that I'm not sure considering even the original was on 360 so you got me.
Someone mentioned it might be using the Persona 5 engine, if that's the case then it's just easier to make it for PS4 than any other platform.
And given the way PS4 and Vita were designed (so it's not too complex to port from one to another), Vita probably was the 2nd easier (considering they had to port the engine) so that might be a reason

Never said it was a conspiracy, lol. Just wondering why they would skip a hugely popular hybrid console (Switch) and skip a console family where the game is already playable to begin with (Xbox 360 + Xbox One). As said, it's their choice of course, they can do whatever they want, but it is leaving money on the table.

And I was all set to get it on the PS4, and the Vita release had to throw a spanner in the works.

I guess the only solution is...both?

sure, and i guess erica had super-bright red hair in the original game too, but i guess it's more that... she has this very soft, young, almost high-school-girl appearance to her (complete with faux-sailor uniform top) with pastel colors that just seems totally out of place with the rest of the game's art direction

even modern persona characters typically have more "grounded" and natural aesthetics/color schemes than this

There are people in Japan, or anywhere in the world really, who dress and act in a certain fashion explicitly to stick out. In Japan specifically there are many gyaru subsets of fashion, one of which Kogyaru is all about dressing like a High-School girl even into young Adult years after HS.

Warning: Port begging
Considering there's a P3 and P5 dancing game coming to PS4/Vita next year, P5 just dropped on PS3/PS4 this year, Dragon's Crown Pro dropping next year on PS4, and now Catherine remake is dropping on PS4/Vita next year, I'd say they love money and are making a lot of it by doing whatever you want.

Meanwhile they're losing the perfect opportunity to bring this stuff over to PC natively due to RPCS3 like Sega screwed up by taking too long to bring Bayonetta over. Now we'll have access to Dragon's Crown, Persona 5 and Catherine and they won't see a damn cent from the overwhelming majority of people playing it on there.

They're making money, cool, but they're not making enough as they would otherwise. Atlus is really missing out.

So hyped for this. I never did beat the original game. Made it through three dungeons iirc then other things got in the way. It seemed like a really special game based on what I did play.

This is what I don't understand about Switch portbeggars. Persona 5 is the same exact deal as SMTV yet you don't see people portbegging for SMTV since it's an exclusive, yet I see every damn thing related to P5 online "Switch?" despite it also being an exclusive?

How's that for hypocritical.

This new girl will suck because Katherine will always be the best, I don't make the rules

It goes Katherine > Trisha > Erica > them other ones

Im stoked for this for more Trisha content tbh

I really hate that the new girl has pink hair. I enjoyed that everyone looked and acted like real people in Catherine and weren't just anime tropes.
