I thought I hated it but after reading everything online I don't even know anymore.

This is not a joke.

All I'm certain is that Jay's probably at the very least going to say he respects the film for actually trying to do something new without relying on nostalgia to carry it.

Given everything they've said about Star Wars in general and especially about Rogue One I can't imagine they wouldn't at least appreciate this movie for what it is. I can see how certain elements could possibly rub them the wrong way of course.

I'd be shocked if the entire crew didn't like/love/respect TLJ to some degree. Its has the right combination of idiosyncratic schlock and interesting film making that they usually respond to.

I still haven't seen TLJ, but I'm waiting for the HitB episodes on it. I'll probably spoil myself with their review.

First reason I saw:

"This was the most sloppy and arrogant writing I have seen to the STAR WARS fandom since the Holiday Special. Rian Johnson thought of no one other than himself."

Favorite one:

"It's really an infinite sadness this movie ... I have already seen it twice, because I came out with too much bitterness at the first sight, I did not want to believe it, and the second time I really realized that I was not dreaming"

I paid $20-30 to see if I really disliked it and yes I did!

Hackfrauds betray me. I'm fed up with this world.

Seriously, I hope they release their review soon.

I think they'll find it average. I dunno. I mean there isn't much to say about it... and it feels like the only reason to review it is because it'll get them lots of youtube views. I'd almost want them to do a review in their Nerd Crew characters just to fuck with everyone.

A lot of the criticism Mike had for TFA in his Plinkett review is magnified in TLJ, but at the same time it didn't do what most expected it to so he might like that.

If I had to guess the reactions...

Mike: "I liked it but the movie was a letdown from The Force Awakens."
Jay: "I really liked it for being risky with its characters, but some of the pacing and plotting was weak."
Rich: "Star Wars is dead to me but I love this movie for taking a dump on everyone's expectations and ripping the fan base apart."

I wonder how it will do on the Plinkett Characters/Story/Emotion test

I kinda think it gets 0/3, just like Rogue One.

I think this is the most likely scenario.

You guys give them way too much credit in how harsh they can be, specially after how much they liked the messy GotG2.

They already did

You guys are forgetting hot takes about diversity and race. lol
10 minute conversation about how it's weird that they paired up Finn and Rose followed by a joke about hate crimes against those gross weird caretaker dinosaurs.

Pretty much what I expect lol. But I think Mike is going to be waaay more mixed to even negative given his past criticisms for both TFA and the prequels.

If you rewatch their Force Awakens Plinkett review, they're basically asking for the Last Jedi to end up the way it did

I PREEMTIVELY AM PETITIONING FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE LAST JEDI HALF IN THE BAG REVIEW FROM THE RED LETTER MEDIA CANON BECAUSE THESE HACK FRAUDS ARE TAKING TOO LONG, MUCH LIKE THE MIDDLE THIRD OF THE LAST JEDI.

I fucking detest when they do that shit.

I lost a lot of respect for them when they went down that road, and continue to double down on it.

I had a falling out with them when they started doing this irrespective of when it was even warranted. Like, I couldn't tell if Mike was being ironic by reading a crappy Star Trek book (which we know he loves, almost as much as he loves believing in ghosts) in the beginning of the Wonder Woman episode and then going on for like 5-10 minutes on asking why any girl or woman would look up to Wonder Woman. And then, of course, Rich on Pre-Rec streams going "why can't I say tranny and retard" and various comments about women as well. (I could site more examples like the constant Ghostbusters videos, but why bother. We've discussed it before, but there's been a steady march to this stuff since, like, 2015.) And, the reason I stopped posting in the old thread, and why I just primarily watch this new one to know when something is coming out and if it might be worth my time, is that a good chunk of the community from what I could gather felt embolden by this over the years, and of course the stupid plastering of tired memes all over the place. In the old thread, a long time poster basically gave up after being berated for being bothered about the tranny stuff and was tired of explaining why it bothered them. Also, real talk, when the old site died and everyone moved to discord, a lot of people showed their true colors, not just with RLM stuff but in other communities in which I used to belong. Suddenly, it was "SJW" this and "political correctness" that, and you realized that some of these people were gross all along and just kept it in check out of fear of being banned, including the leaders of those communities. It was very discouraging.

I agree with you a 100% There are quite a few of their vids i haven't watched because of how i feel.

Also Jack is just as bad as the others.

The streams have had them really show their arses. (unfortunately)

we've already seen they are the equivalent of diet racism when it comes to social issues and discussions, can I ask genuinely why you are still watching them if you are disgusted with them? They aren't going to change immediately. The most you can hope for is that they withhold comments of that sort for more edited written things like Plinkett but it escapes on more ad libbed stuff.

I still watch them from time to time because I think they still do a decent job of populist criticism, even if they are """problematic.""" I would only recommend them with various caveats. BotW I check in every once in a while, but I've not enjoyed it overall in years (kind of since Jessi disappeared). I liked the most recent episode and I like when the Canadians, and when Freddie Williams appeared last year. I dropped Pre-Rec like a hot potato, the show forever ago and the streams when Rich started getting worse (and Jay not appearing as much, or at least when I watched). I'm not disgusted with them, but I think HitB and BotW kind have been stagnant for a while, and it just compounds with their attitudes on diversity and women, that I've lost a lot of heart I once had (as a top poster previously). One hopes they get out of their funk, at least how I see it.

For the most i don't. And when i do (which isn't that often anymore) it's mostly out of habit.

Depressing situation really.
