I have no issues with subtitles provided I'm giving 100% of my attention to the media. But when I'm multi-tasking, I need audio.

Watched the first four episodes of ERASED today, in between episodes of Good Morning Call for that jarring tonal shift, and I'm loving it so far. Very true to the source material and some great acting from the kids. Netflix keeps hitting it out the park with these J-Dramas.

Has anyone tried Manhunt: Unabomber?

I watched a few of these last night. Its ok. Has enough to make me want to finish it off. I didnt know much about the Unabomber and so will read up on him after i finish the series to see if its accurate. I have just watched the Mindhunter series which i felt was a better show but this one is good enough.

Manhunt: Unabomber is fairly accurate as far as these types of things go. They do still add some drama but for the most part it they stayed true to the technical aspects of the case.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The only niggle was the part when they took him to the hanger (uncuffed) around evidence. That was stretching the bounds of credibility.
But beyond that, really dry. Which I love.

Yup. I really enjoyed the film as well.

Unrelated to the above, I gave The Indian Detective a shot. So far, I'm about 2 episodes in. It's a bit hit and miss. Feels slightly odd as the humor is distinctly sitcom tv level but the budget is clearly much higher. The dramatic aspects are interesting and the primary reason it seems worth watching at this point.

I only realised that there's a second season of Ultimate Beastmaster the other day. It was a little bit jarring to see Terry Crews and Charissa Thompson were replaced, but after 3 episodes I think I prefer the new American hosts better and I also think most of the international commentators are really good this season.

Real Detective is pretty good. Uses real cases interviewing the hum... "real detectives" slipping back and fourth between actors.
Some of the cases are pretty famous, others not so much. At times very gripping stuff.

Got around to watching Bright. I really enjoyed it. I like the world they're building there. An interesting take on a fantasy/modern mash up. Definitely hoping for a sequel. Will Smith seemed at his best tbh.

Halt and catch fire is excellent. Up to season 3 in a few days. It reminds me of breaking bad in that you have a hard time liking any of the main characters tho lol

Just finished Cables Girls (season 1) and just started season 2.
How in the hell all the staff weren't fired en masse after the events of season 1 I'll never know. It was an unforgivable breach of trust on a professional and personal level. Absolutely awful human beings.

So excited for Black Mirror tomorrow. Like irrationally excited. It's become one of my favorite series.

Just finished Godless, thought it was extremely mediocre. Never made me care or give a shit about Roy and Alice, and was filled to the gills with tropes and cliches. Really disappointing.

I have been binging the living hell out of Club de Cuervos (Club of Crows). It's funny, with lots of backstabbing filled with likeable characters.

It has been a hot minute since I didn't want a show to end, but here it is.

I realized something the other day scouring Netflix for some stuff to watch...
Netflix would be a perfect place for the return of the old wow factor style boxart.

I donno if you guys are familiar with Robert The Bruce but Netflix upcoming Outlaw King has wrapped filming. From reading it's also going to be a trilogy as opposed to a single movie. Story will be alot closer to the reality of what happened, featuring characters completely omitted like James Douglas, Bishop Wishart, John Balliol and his rival John Comyn. as well as Edward I, his son and William Wallace, who became Scotlands guardian. The first movie will end at the battle of Loudoun Hill as opposed to Bannockburn. i.e. early in Robert The Bruce' career. It's being made David Mackenzie (Hell Orr High Water) and has Chris Pine in the lead role.

Overall very hyped.

Some screenshots.

Infinity Chamber (2016) was a pretty damn interesting sci-fi movie I'd never heard of before. Setting and tone sorta reminded me of Cube. It's definitely not a big budget movie but I think it was one of the more intelligent movies I've seen recently. And I'm still thinking about the ending the day after watching. I recommend this one.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Action)
People hated this? I just watched it and actually really liked it! I thought this was the best Pirates of the Caribbean film since the first one. It delivered the action-adventure that I expected, but also added more story and lore that mattered compared to the past couple films. I think this series appeals to me the most when Jack shares the spotlight alongside other characters, and I felt like that might have been the intention of the first film. I thought the story was naturally progressing to hand the reigns over to Will and Elizabeth, but then Jack just became too popular and the storyline just became nonsensical. This one was really surprisingly good, but maybe it's because I went in with low expectations. I'm not sure, but maybe this is the beginning of something new. I'm actually looking forward to the next one though now.

I skipped the last one but I watched this last night and enjoyed it enough. Personally I find the jack sparrow character pretty annoying though. This one seemed to put the Will/Elizabeth characters to bed. I don't think they'll be back especially with the two new characters. I guess I like them enough but Carina being
Barbossa's daughter seemed a bit too convenient though

Did you see the after-credit scene? It might be a sign that Will and Elizabeth's story might return to center stage. I also agree the Carina thing was convenient, but it's not unforgivable in movieland.
