I took a break yesterday when I got to the stage where the first objective is to cross a bit of lava then re-fight the rabbit who pukes the purple stuff everywhere. I fought him before and though he was a pain, but I just can't beat him now. Is there a trick to killing him faster?

Stand close after he's done the twirling and hit him with the hat and. Jump on his head three times. pretty much the same fight, though it seems to be a bit faster.

Bravo Nintendo! That ending sequence for the story was fun.
Loved the campaign and now it's time for the postgame and full completion.

Got to wooded kingdom. Probably my least favorite world so far.

Definitely the worst one, IMO.

I'm afraid to move onto new world's because I don't want the game to end. The amount of people in here who've already beat it has me feeling that it's gonna come sooner than I'd like.

I'm in New Donk City now and it's probably my favorite so far. It's such a great platforming sandbox and the things the denizens say are often hilarious. The humor in this level is very reminescent of Warioware games to me.

Speaking for myself (although I suspect this is the case for most who finished it quickly), I primarily followed the main story path in each kingdom, and then moved on. I did take many detours to collect other moons, but I definitely didn't fully explore any of the kingdoms my first time through. I kind of regret that now, because playing the game like this makes it fly by really quickly (and also without much challenge). There isn't much "main" content in each kingdom, you're off to the next one before you know it. But if you're trying to do most of what you can in each kingdom before moving on I don't think you have to be afraid of the end coming up too soon.

Beat the game. I feel like the last few kingdoms + end sequence were waayyyyyyy stronger than the start of the game. Excited for post game now.

I got to the Metro Kingdom and a certain sequence was just so good but I can't figure out why I loved it so much.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE IT TO METRO KINGDOM!
The whole festival sequence somehow made me feel emotional in a way I rarely do in videogames but I can't figure out why as I have heard that song a dozen times or more before I even played the game and I was used to the brilliant 2D mechanic by that point. But somehow it all comes together for something that felt magical. At least to me.

I like Wooded Kingdom a whole lot actually. My least favorite is probably Cascade.

I feel like my experience with Zelda BOTW and this game were backwards, in that Zelda starts of strong but got weaker as it went on, where as Odyssey starts off good but get's great once you hit Metro Kingdom.

So my personal best in Jump Rope is 55 and I'm not sure I'll ever hit 100.

It's infuriating being so determined to do something so minimal lol.

Damn these Moons.

The main story of the game is very short. I feel that even shorter than Mario Galaxy because of the possibility to skip story scenes if you get enough moons.

How's everyone playing the main quest of the game? Playing it in the relaxed way, trying to search for moons and advancing to the next kingdom or absolutely clearing it before moving to the next one?

Pretty much letting my attention/interest drive me. Sometimes that ends up meaning getting every moon. Other times, I just follow the critical path.

i'd search a lot of nooks and crannies, but not every nook and cranny. i got like 20-30 moons and most of the purple coins in each kingdom before moving on.
it's impossible to absolutely clear before moving on, and it's impossible to know which ones you can do or can't do, so it's best to just hang out in the kingdoms for a little bit and movie on. come back after Bowser.

What about that made it so amazing.

I talked about it a few minutes ago but it gave me the feels. Which I rarely get when I play games .
It felt like a celebration of Mario. It also felt like a celebration of you, the player, being thanked and cheered on for years of believing in Nintendo. Combine the overwhelming positivity with fireworks, an extremely upbeat vocal song and main theme playing (which is usually reserved for the final boss victory lap), and you've got yourself a truly memorable moment. And then you actually get to watch a fully animated concert of a band you recruited. So cool!

Really glad I put the jump rope and volleyball challenges behind me early.

Meanwhile, the new final post game challenge at
500
moons is absolutely destroying me. There's no end in sight!

I'm not really sure myself, either, haha. It just comes together in a fantastic way.

The fireworks, the anticipation it builds by showing you the 2D rooms in the distance from the beginning, the song, the DK homage, the dance at the end... maybe even the way the city sort of looks 1980s-y? Whatever it is, it works really well.

Man, these purple coins are going to be the death of me. Always three or four left in each world, nowhere to be found...

He's actually the easiest one of the bunch. When he inhales before doing his spin puke move you can just hit his cap with yours and jump on him before he can even do the whole thing. Just hit him before he starts pukig and jump on his head while he's spinning.

When he does his moving around under his hat just avoid him and do the spin cap move to get rid of as much puke as possible.

Do I have to manage 100 in volleyball as well for the second moon? That is way harder than the rope one.

Decided Cascade Kingdom would be my first post-game dive. Maybe it's the music or the layout but I love the level a lot, definitely one of my favorites. Also found a couple of areas I completely missed the first time through. The sense of exploration is fantastic.

Just got to the ground level of New Donk City and it's absolutly bonkers. This game will move so many Switches this holiday season. Wish the music was as memorable as 3D World, though.

Recent Mario Games have done a good job of making for a memorable finale. I thought the ending was the strongest part of 3D World and 3D Land, and I really like the Final Bowser stages in the Galaxy games.

That's my only complaint about the game till now. The music kind of fades into the background. Except Wooded Kingdom, which is awesome! Still nothing on the level of Hisstocrat but I am still early in the game so I hope there's something good.

i really hope we get a full OST that has some of the more obscure music. The music when riding a livewire in Bowsers Castle keeps playing in my head, but you only get to hear it a few times and in small breaks. i need it on my phone

For a guy who doesn't play a big role in the game, I really liked Jaxi's backstory.

Also it's possible to get all the purple coins in the Sand Kingdom on your first visit? I left it with a few coins short, I should get my Bowser amiibo to help me track them.

This game is crazy good so far. It's refreshing. 3D World really didn't grab me, so Galaxy 2 was the last time I enjoyed a 3D home console Mario game

Right now I'm just finding all the moons I can without killing myself, then moving on to the next area. I kind of like that the Switch doesn't have a trophy system. Makes it easier to not obsess over finding everything in every area.

Also I've made an executive decision that Mario will wear a sombrero for the remainder of the game

I hope we do as well. "Jump Up, Super Star!" actually did pretty decently on the iTunes Charts when it was released so hopefully that encourages Nintendo to release the entire ost.

Sweet Jesus yes, I need a soundtrack release. Listening to
Bowser's Kingdom
right now, and I'm still getting chills.

Just beat him. I didn't realize you don't have to wait for him to choke before jumping on him. Super easy. Thanks
