I love this dude but I don't get this one. Is the download speed of PSN supposed to be bad? I usually download everything at 5-8mb/s, can't really complain about this honestly.

It depends on where you are from what I understand...
In my case, this is hilarious because it's true.
Downloading 500 MB PS4 updates can take an hour or two for me sometimes, where as my Xbox can download 500MB in minutes....

I think it has to do with who Sony has contracted to be the provider in your area.
For me here in Norway, I max out my 500 mbit connection when downloading stuff to my ps4pro (with ssd and ethernet cable).

Others have extremely poor results in comparison on fast connections so my best guess is geographical location.

I didn't hear he's retiring. Most depressing news of 2017(even after the Net Neutrality news). :-(

How is he so consistently good. This is the video game insustry equivalent of political satire. It's so true, it's so funny and it makes you think.

If he goes, I hope somebody steps up to carry on the legacy.

Agreed. This is one of the few jokes where he fails. I've had consistently good download speeds ever since I moved to a wired connection on the PS3. My usual speed on the current 100Mbps connection is ~12MB/s.

Again, depends where you live. My ps4/Xbox One are on the same network, both wired and the PS4 is really slow.

Same, my PS4 is wired and a download that would have taken 20 minutes on Steam took 8 hours on PSN. It is slow as molasses.

And that's exactly why the joke fails, as its interpretation depends on where you live.

Not necessarily, it seems to be a very common occurrence to have super slow PSN download speeds. With your new post, you definitely are getting decent PSN speeds, although not as fast as Steam. But more like a 2X difference instead of 50x like me.

That's not how it's here in Finland.

And some people in the old forum would complain when he took jabs at other companies and not Sony. He goes harder on Sony!

Oh, here comes the fanboy accusation for pointing out, that the PSN speeds aren't awful for everyone. Why not react with such a venom against people who point out the opposite, as it's after all another subjective experience?

You're not taking it onboard that it's location dependent though "the jokes not funny" "My speed is fine" even the tone of this one I'm quoting is defensive.

To be able to pick an imaginary tone from a post is something else. It's natural to point out the error, when something is claimed to be the norm everywhere. Although, at the moment the removal of net neutrality only affects US, so the tweet can be taken as referring to that area as well. Luckily, there's still net neutrality, and good PSN speeds, in Europe.

They aren't loading for me either. Well, this is a first. Maybe work on the site or something.

Also, it's okay to not like his tweets, but we're just having some fun here.

Yeah, the tweet is not loading on my laptop either.

I generally like his tweets, including the many that made fun of Sony, but I just found this one lacking given my personal experiences.

I've reported the broken tweet glitch to the sysadmins, hopefully it gets looked at soon (though it's late here, not sure of their time zone).

Blimey it's just a joke - why take it so seriously?

The joke doesn't fail at all - it's common knowledge for a lot of people that PSN speeds are slower than other services. It doesn't depend on where you live at all. And besides, even if it depend on where you live. If you live where the speeds are slow then the joke didn't fail did it? Not all jokes appeal to everyone. Can't believe I'm analysing it like this. Some people need to chill

Because it depicts something that just hasn't been true for me since I went wired on the PS3, for that reason it definitely seems to be depending on where you live. You do realize, that the complainers are always more vocal than those who are content?

Granted, the Wi-Fi speeds on the PS3 were horrendous, and it's beyond me why certain online games, like Let It Die and Destiny, sometimes take ages to download a small patch, and aren't always updated in rest mode. Hell, a recent 697MB LID patch took me over 100 minutes to download. It's odd, since it's only those two games for me. Not to mention, that it seems to be a roll of dice, because sometimes their patches download swiftly, and while the system is in rest mode. I've actually contacted Let It Die's customer service about it, and they told me that the fault lies on Sony's end.

I'm in the UK using the Virgin Media broadband service. I can get about 150MB per second at peak times and 200 - 230mbs non peak times. I've never know PSN to be slow or take tong to download games. I've a;ways just assumed that it was a problem with US broadband service providers.
