I couldn't find an ipad thread so I figured this is probably the next best place to ask..

Would you recommend installing iOS 11 on my Ipad Pro? All I kept hearing about was how terrible it is but haven't kept up since 11.2 released

It's a must quite frankly. It makes the iPad function more like an actual computer.

For one, who was feeding you these lies?

For another, don't believe every complaint on the internet. Complaints get amplified, since nobody is going to go on the internet to tell you how well this new OS is running on their iPad.

Now go install on iOS 11 on your iPad Pro, because how did you not look at that feature list and install it day one? ;)

Sometimes I wake up and my phone hasn't charged past 50% wirelessly. It's totally hit or miss with no rhyme or reason. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm glad I haven't had any issues with wireless charging. The Samsung charger I got has worked flawlessly so far.

One thing that continues to irritate me about this phone (beyond the idiotic Control Center placement) is that the Facial Awareness feature doesn't work as I expected. When I look away from the screen and it dims, and then I look back, it should know I'm looking at it again and disable the auto-dim and auto-lock from happening. But it just stays dim until I raise the phone. This wouldn't be a huge deal except for the fact that the dimming happens after only a few seconds of looking away.
This is due to the depth sensor only checking for your attention/face every 30 seconds. It's not a constant checking.

I worked around this specific snag by extending the "Auto-Lock" timer under Display & Brightness from 30 seconds which is the default to 1 minute.

Actually, it checks before it dims, not on intervals.

You tap it to undim.

The phone checks every 30 seconds to see if you are facing the phone (according to Craig Federighi, link). If you're not facing it, then it dims and soon after locks. The issue eyeball_kid referred to is that it doesn't check again fast enough to undim the screen on it's own - which is what the tweak I talked about works around by making it less likely to dim in the first place while you're actively using the phone.

It literally says in the settings: "TrueDepth camera will check for attention before dimming the display or lowering the volume for alerts" under the Attention-Aware Features toggle, though. So I guess it does both.

How exactly does Apple care work? If I get a scratch on the screen in an ugly place can I just get it replaced? What's the turnaround time?

Also, anyone else having an issue where replying to Facebook messenger messages via notifications doesn't actually send the message until you open the app?

Yes, that's how AppleCare works. Though I will say that scratches specifically fall under "cosmetic damage" and strictly speaking aren't covered, so if your tech follows the letter of the agreement just drop the phone and try again.

Turn around time depends on the damage, how many phones are checked in, and a lot of other factors. Usually between 1-3 hours

That setting is broken for me. It starts dimming at 30 seconds no matter what setting Auto Lock is at. Even with Attention Aware turned off.

Got mine delivered today, been setting it up.

Basically feels the same in my hand as my iPhone 6, little bit heavier. Was a big concern for me cos I have fairly small hands, so I have a hard time with larger phones - just the 6 was at the edge of what I could tolerate. I found the cchunky Nokia WinPhone i had for a bunch of years super hard to use.

Screen is beautiful. Notch seems like a non-issue so far, although i hope the few games I play get X versions to use the screen height. I am looking at you Puzzles and Dragons. UI is definitely a lot smoother feeling than my 6, although the 6 wasn't terrible.

Combo of the swipe to home and face id replacing touch...I was super skeptical of both but I have been all over different apps while setting the phone up and it feels great and very natural so far.

We'll see if anything crops up over a longer time period, but initial impressions are really positive and most of my concerns seem like they were unfounded.

Weird issue today. My Apple Watch has worked fine for a year with wrist detection on, all of a sudden today it keeps locking when it goes to sleep. Completely random, no changes made. Any ideas? Without wrist detection on I can't get all 3 rings on activity (stand doesn't work) and I have no passcode.

So, now home automation stuff on my phone doesn't work. Well, the "When people leave" automation doesn't. It was annoying at first, but got it working on my iPhone 7, but since upgrading to an 8+ it doesn't work anymore. I even have the newest OS update too.

Honestly very strange to me, I was having those issues and then 11.2 fixed them. Haven't had an issue since

Hmmm. Maybe once my wife updates her phone. Will change it to "When anyone leaves" instead of last person tomorrow to see if it triggers. But ever since upgrading the phone it hasn't worked.
The "Anyone arrives home" automation still works flawlessly.

Yeah I would make sure everything that uses HomeKit is updated: phones, iPads, Apple TV, all that. On iOS 11.1 absolutely no conditions worked (only when I'm home, when the last person leaves, at sunset) and updating everything along with 11.2 fixed everything

Maybe try unpairing and repairing and if that doesn't help, might wanna hit up Apple support

Well, it came mostly from here and the older place ;p
I installed it and it seems to work fine for now, although I haven't used it much. Multi-Tasking is really great.
Thanks!

How do you know when you're viewing HDR content? Usually on my LG Tv theres a notification on the corner.

Does anybody else experience a delay with the proximity sensor? Specifically when on a phone call, I find that half of the time when I take my phone away from my face the screen will stay black for an extra second or two, and the other half its instant like with the old phones. I'm not sure if it's the phone or my screen protector

Fast charging "double chime" has become finicky again after updating iOS today. Literally had to connect/re-connect the cable over 20 times to get the double chime indicator working. Wish there was some kind of visual indicator showing that the phone is fast charging.

I'm contemplating switching to T-Mobile, and have a Verizon iPhone X. Do I need to do anything to have the phone work on TMO's network or do I just pop the sim card in and go? Also, any feedback on Tmobile? Looking to get the phone bill down, they seem to be the cheapest (3 phones, 1 iPad)

According to Google, Verizon don't lock their phones, and haven't since iPhone 4. You should be okay to use a T-Mobile SIM in it.

T-Mobile still has reception issues in some more rural areas, but other than that I haven't had any major problems. They're stingy with their tethering data cap, but I guess they all are.

Pop the sim and go. In fact, the Verizon model is objectively better than the T-Mobile model, although people here got angry at me for stating the facts and being happy at no one's expense. The differences are bound to be slight — Apple artificially limits the Qualcomm modem to the same kind of performance as the Intel chip — but take the small victories where you can get them.

There's always Cricket or SimpleMobile if you want a cheaper plan.

Does anyone else have the wireless charging issue where it doesn't go past 50% seemingly for no reason?

Has anyone here tried the headphone adapter that comes bundled with the phone?

Unfortunately, my car (2012) does not have native bluetooth - so I was hoping to use the adapter to use an aux cable for my car. After plugging it in, it sounds like hot garbage. Lots of background noise.

Should be ok, but maybe it's expecting a headphone out and your car is expecting line level?

Have a look at Bluetooth aux adapters. I bought one for my previous car and it was super convenient

Is this battery life on the BeatsX normal or did I get a dud? Battery was at 46% when I connected them and now they're at 37% after listening to music for 15~ minutes at 75% volume.
