Looking forward to the third episode and the bonus one. More Life is Strange is never a bad thing.

The second episode was kind of lackluster though.

It was initially our full intention to release with native Ultrawide support but unfortunately it wasn't possible in the end. It's something we've been discussing internally for some time, but at this point it looks unlikely that we'll manage to implement it. Really sorry to disappoint you in this way - it wasn't our intention to mislead anyone and talking about it too early was an honest mistake on our part. Please do accept my apologies :(

I just bought Before the Storm during the Steam summer sale and beat both episodes, I'm glad episode 3 is coming soon.

I really liked Life is Strange but wasn't super interested in a prequel for whatever reason but I'm glad I bought it, I've really enjoyed the first two episodes.

Can't wait!! It's been awesome so far! Also there's a bonus episode? Is it part of the special/collectors edition (which I got I think, it was the most expensive PSN bundle available for it).

Two weeks? arrrgh. Kind of dying to see how well they wrap things up.

(Also: Pretty excited to see Your Name talk in a Life is Strange thread, lol. It's been reverberating in my head for weeks. Definitely pairs well with LiS.)
Yeah it seems to have that effect on people, myself included. Been hard to stop thinking about it since I saw it. The LiS parallels are definitely there. I think Your Name does a much better job of tying all of its thematic threads together in the service of its story and emotional core, though, without getting into spoilers as to why. Fans of LiS definitely should check it out either way!

Thanks for the reply. It's disappointing, but at least we have an official response now.
It's frustrating when people are able to mod in support for it very quickly after release (initially held-up by the Denuvo DRM) but there's no official support from developers - especially for an episodic game like this when there have been several updates now, and it will receive at least two more.

I need to go to bed. Somehow I ended up on the weird side of Yourube while looking at this game, and I'm laughing at something that shouldn't even be funny:

It's not really supernatural in any way, but fans of Your Name should check out A Silent Voice. It packs that emotional punch that we're all suckers for.

Just finished episode 2, this game is great. Lives up to the original LIS and surpasses it in ways...particularly with Rachel's inclusion. The fact that it's more grounded helps the plot and writing. Great soundtrack that lives up to the OG as well.

Looking forward to episode 3. Also I see the name of the episode relates to the play.

Oooh... DECEMBER 19!

I miss that part when I first saw it. Even the prospect of having it a few hours early is great, but a day?! That's HUGE!

Glad to see episode 3 get a date. Did we ever find out if you still need the bonus episode to get the platinum trophy?

Will still get to play this since I am working at 12PM EST but still good nevertheless. Still have to go through episode 2 first.

Got my deluxe edition ready. Haven't played any of the episodes yet, waiting for all 3 to release before starting with the wife over Christmas weekend.

Neither the bonus episode nor the Deluxe Edition are required to obtain the platinum trophy. We fixed this with the release of episode 2.

Cool thanks for the update, I've got the Deluxe but am platinum hunting this month, which means I'm going to binge all three episodes next week!

Also try to convince whoever is in charge of discounts to put the PS3 version of LiS on sale, I keep seeing the PS4 version get massive discounts but PS3 version always seems to sit at $19.99

Where are you seeing that? Seems to launch everywhere at the same time.
Normal NZ release: Midnight
New NZ release: 6am

Thus 6 hours later than expected. NZ and Aus aren't part of the "many" that tweet is talking about.

I get why they've done it, they're just catering to their US/EU fans and don't care about us, but it's still shitty.

Yeah, Aus and NZ are screwed over there. I think it's easier to be awake at midnight than waiting till 4-6am / waking up to play the episode.

It's fair to literally everywhere else but man this does kinda suck :/

Ep2 was 3:00 AEST and Ep3 is now 4:00 AEDT?
Ep2 was available earlier than 3am. My first trophy lodged was 3:29am and it took me a while to download the episode (it took a while to download using phone data)

Edit: actually I'm not a good judge on when Ep 2 launched. I just remembered I forgot about it. Weird that I played it at 3:29am though

The iOS version of LiS is now out. It is a very impressive port. Playing it on iPhone X now, and there's practically no noticeable difference in visuals, sound or performance (it's 30FPS with some drops) compared to the PS4 version where I played it first. Constrols are done by tapping on the screen, P&C adventure style, rather than the directional control like in the other versions. The game is rendered across the whole screen, so it's wider than 16:9. Overall, very impressive, and kind of unbelievable that a game with this kind of fidelity runs so well on a phone. What's even crazier is that after about half an hour of playing it on almost max screen brightness, phone is only a bit warm. Apple has created a monster.

Ep 2 definitely came out at midnight in NZ (on PS4). I just checked my email receipt and it was sent 00:16, so I don't know why it'd be any different in Aus.

Yeah I definitely downloaded ep 1 around midnight. I think I forgot ep 2 and missed getting that ASAP but it's clear it's been pushed back for the comfort of EU/USA, and AUS/NZ must suffer (as if losing a good nights sleep to play the game wasn't suffering enough)

I would argue that waking up earlier to play something is 100% healthier than starting it at midnight and finishing it at 3am or so (the latter being the definition of losing a good nights sleep), so I feel the notion that we are "making you suffer" is a bit unfair. Additionally, AUS/NZ regions got all previous episodes on console several hours ahead of the rest of the world who would then have to "suffer" as AUS/NZ people started posting spoilers and generally had a massive headstart.

Edit: Not that anyone cares, but I generally go to bed early and wake up at 6am and it's made a massive change to how I go about my day and how I enjoy gaming. I can fit going to the gym in before having to head off to work or if I'm feeling lazy one morning, I can spend an hour watching a TV show or playing a game with breakfast. :)

How come it couldn't have been shifted back two hours? PST would get it at 11 am, CET at 8pm, AUS at 6am and NZ at 8am? Better sleep for us down under and still within reasonable hours for the other time zones listed above.

Might be a dumb question, but will the episode "unlock" at the times listed above, and we can update it prior to that? Or will it be like episode 2, where the update is scheduled for said times and we just have to wait?

It launches at 7pm for me, but my internet is garbage here and I'd like to play it as soon as it drops if possible.

You could also, I don't know, not wake up in the middle of the night to play a videogame.
I get that is a completely sane option, but this final episode has been something I have been looking forward to for a long time, just like everyone else. I would have loved to have experienced the final outing with Chloe as soon as the 20th launched in my region so I can close the book on that chapter. Playing them at midnight has also become a sort of tradition for me. I remember crying at like 3am in 2015 as "Spanish Sahara" played through the end credits, so thankful for Square Enix for having delivered this amazing game, and that I got to experience it as soon as possible.

I am letting my emotions get to me, but I'm just a bit sick of how shafted AUS/NZ gets with most games. It's gotten a lot better in recent years, and Square has been excellent at letting us play at midnight, just like with Episode Ignis from FFXV. I understand that this is done to prevent spoilers, but it's a bit shitty to be shafted by a company that's done a lot right for us little folk down here.

Not as bad as Capcom though. I remember being so stressed and annoyed when they said Ace Attorney 5 would launch on a certain day. Turns out it would launch the day after it was advertised. We ended up last to get the game, despite advertisements suggesting otherwise.

Edit: a preload would be nice, but I doubt it would happen. Being able to buy the episode from the store, put the PS4 into rest mode for the episode to download while sleeping would be a welcome option, but yeah, my hopes for that aren't high.

We need to balance a time that is convenient to everyone globally with the time our own offices are all still at work. 2 Hours later would be 7pm GMT when most people in the UK office have already left. 5pm is therefore the optimum when all our locations are in the office to provide support in case it's needed.

Preloading is generally available for consoles but not for PC - I discussed this on Steam previously so i'll quote myself here:

What about preloading?
I know preloading is important and we have discussed the matter on our side. The reason that we are not able to make preload available on Steam is because Valve have advised us that for titles of this size (~5GB is relatively small), the Steam un-encryption process at launch actually takes almost everyone longer than if they would just download the game normally (the unencryption process requires Steam to download additional files). So by enabling preloading, most people would have to wait longer, not shorter to play the game.

Why do Consoles get to preload?
Preloading is available on Xbox and PlayStation as it is offered through Sony and Microsoft based on their own policies and which use different processes at launch.

That's a very reasonable reason, thank you for explaining that. I'm sorry about my shitty attitude about this. I'm just so ready to experience the final episode and it being pushed back a few hours really irked me.

So preloading will be a thing next week? That's awesome! Do you know what time it would roughly be up for download?

You're still delaying something that we otherwise would've gotten earlier. If you're going to pat yourselves on the back for giving it to "most" people earlier, ignoring that we're getting the worst of it still makes you look bad.

Seeing as games are more expensive here than they are in the US/UK, I always figured getting them first was a nice little benefit. Now there's none. So maybe you guys could fix your prices next.

The iOS release of season 1 added a (relatively barebones) photo mode. I wonder if it's being patched into the other versions.

Looking forward to playing ep 3 this week, but I'd be lying if I said I was excited for the last episode like I was the first game :( I don't feel like there's any exciting or dramatic stakes going into this ep 3, and there's no storyline I'm desperately wanting to see pan out.

I'm replaying BTS in preparation for the final ep's imminent release, and the ending bit of Ep1 finally made sense:
So Rachel sets fire to that photo and dumps it into the garbage can, setting up a standard "burn and turn" sequence where the protagonists heroically ditch a burning object... only, then Rachel kicks over the garbage can and starts a wildfire. Like, what!?

Turns out I had forgotten that that tree was where her father's infidelity with the woman in white was confirmed--making it, in Rachel's eyes I imagine, a monument to his betrayal of her family. So now I totally get how it escalated so quickly--she wasn't trying to start a wildfire, but lash out against that memory, and against her father in general. Not justified, but understandable.
There's a lot of small and big things you notice in a second playthrough. The lush, living environments are a huge part of this, though it's also a really well-written game.

Most of all, though, I'm still impressed by how jam-packed each episode is. That first episode feels so much more significant than any of TellTale's individual episodes, except maybe from the Walking Dead: Season 1. There's just a lot of stuff going on in each scene, such that it doesn't feel like you're just ferrying Chloe between cinematics.
