Capcom have done an excellent job with input on PC!

They are using native keyboard mouse and SCAPI (Steam Controller API) for native Steam Controller / any other controller support. So you can customise this like crazy for all kinds of actions.

Mouse / touchpad / trackball for the celestial brush is there too, so although not default you can get super precise gyro controls in to!

Awesome to see this in one of my favourite games!

Had to turn mouse sensitivity way down for both camera and brush, but otherwise, the controls feel pretty good on PC. Not being able to use the mouse in menus isn't too bad.

I recall RE: Revelations 2 having a similar issue where the default mouse settings were incredibly sensitive.

Kudos for Capcom for a solid PC port, though. They're one of the best Japanese publishers when it comes to PC ports in recent years.

Shame about the lack of move support or even touchpad support, think I'll stick to the PS3 version. So close to Platinuming anyways, stupid race in the woods...

Sucks that PS3 and PS4 share the trophy list, no third purchase for me.

Other than that, fantastic game, one of my favorites.

Really wish I had known this before I bought it, because I was excited to Platinum it again.

Also, having spent WAY too much time dealing with Sony release management, duping the original list and changing the platform might actually be LESS effort than using the old one. It's at least comparable.

This was such an easy sales driver, and I'm really surprised they managed to mess this up.

Okami's like the horrible step child of Skyward and Twilight Princess: It got both a handholdy sidekick that spoils the solution to everything that resembles a puzzle and it's also padding the content of a 20 hour game into a 50 hour game.

I love all of the three games, but I always find it sorta funny when talking about Okami people complain about TP and Skyward. Okami is guilty of the exact same sins, arguably even to a worse degree than both Zelda titles. It's super pretty though.

I played this on the PS3 before I became a father so it was a nice Swan Song to my free time :P

Can someone comment on the pop in? I remember that being a bit annoying that they didn't extend the draw distance.

I remember the handholding being infinitely worse than any Nintendo game I have ever played.TP's handholding for example kick's in fairly often in the beginning and then every now and then for the remainder of the game. Okami's spoils every single puzzle in the game without exception. It's quite ridiculous.

Adored the game on PS2/Wii, was so hyped to replay this the other day and the filter was just slaying my eyes :(. I've got it set to low and that's eased it somewhat but the blur looks horrid to me

It's my first time playing and I'm really just enjoying being a cute dog running around causing mischief. Barking at people, biting things, giving food to other animals, it's all very pleasant :)

It still looks so lovely. Modern cel-shaded style 3D games often half-ass the intent of the art style and don't put the ink outlines and such on the world, only on the characters, so they look disjointed to me, yet here's a PS2 game without fancy pixel shaders doing it right. Is it actually using that old school "duplicate the triangles of everything and invert them" trick or something? That would be pretty crazy as it would mean it needed double the polygons you actually notice yet it still looked and performed great on the lowly PlayStation 2. Either way, the result is fantastic. Except for the pop-in of random stuff 2 feet ahead of you, shame that wasn't fixed here.

How's the paper effect in this version? I remember in the PS3 being weak
It has the same Normal/Light/Heavy options as PS3 and still uses a very low-res paper texture. If it didn't look 'weak' on PS2, it's only because it was behind the murky SD image quality veil.

For this re-remaster Capcom really should've remade the perpetual overlay and torn-paper-edge speech UI textures, not a lot of work for major screen-time benefit. Lots of gnarly terrain and character textures too but no real surprise they were left as-is.

Game language might be selected automatically based on the set system language.

I don't know why I haven't played this yet, but I haven't. Missed it when it first came out, but bought it on Wii at release and still haven't played it (maybe because the Wii sucked and was hard to get excited about using). Hell, I even have the IGN cover. Then, I bought it elsewhere on sale recently but haven't gotten to it.

Now I've decided I may as well play this version and am waiting for the library to call and say it's available for pick-up. Hopefully it'll be as good as I've heard.

You can in non-major scenes. Unfortunately that doesn't include the opening, but you can at least skip it outright if you want.
Good enough for me. I'll be sure to pick this up sometime soon. I got pretty far into the PS2 version and sold my console before bothering to finish. Then tried again when I had my old PS3 with BC and just couldn't muscle through the blabber.

Can you get through the text quicker than in earlier versions? I don't want to skip text entirely, just not have it be so slow.

EDIT: Already answered in here.

any word on ps4 pro resolution? 4k I guess? since I heard this was 4k downsampled internally on ps3 is that true? and since this is only 30fps I see no reason for no 4k.

I'm really enjoying my first time through the game. Just disappointed to find out that it is like a 40 hour game when doing side quests instead of a 20 hour game as I'm about to face what I assumed was the final boss, which apparently I'll either have to keep re-fighting again and again or some other main enemy appears. The mouse/keyboard controls surprisingly work well, although I wish I could map keys to my extra moues buttons without having to resort to my Logitech software.

You can skip scenes and Issun talking to you??

What cant you skip?

Ive played both on PS2 and PS3 but got up to the part where the doggy shrinks and then I stopped

I want to pick this up again but the unskippable parts are a pain

Too bad I cant import my ps3 save

Just picked up the physical PS4 and X1 copies.

What audio format is this thing outputting? It's not surround sound, and I'm having trouble getting my reciever to apply ProLogic to it... Hmmm

Edit: The sound mix still appears to be the original Stereo/Pro Logic II format from the PS2. Setting my X1X to bit stream or 5.1 uncompressed yielded no surround sound. I finally set it to Stereo uncompressed and Pro Logic II was available on my receiver and the rear speakers started working. If anyone else has been able to get better surround sound from the game, please correct me.

I'm not liking how the audio portion of some remasters have been completely ignored.

Any word on whether the US/EU versions have the right end credits song this time? If not, does the Asian (english language) version have it?
Also, i know the PS3 and PS4 versions share trophy lists, but does that also apply to different regions? If i had the Asian PS3 version and the UK PS4 version, would they have sepparate trophy lists?

A word to the wise for PS4 players: If you want to change any of the options in the game such as camera control or sound levels do it BEFORE you start a new game.

I started a new game last night and after 30 minutes of playing, decided I wanted to change the camera control and the voice levels. To begin with, you can't do this while in game. You need to restart the game and enter the options menu from the intro screen. A minor inconvenience, but okay. For whatever reason, the game defaults camera control to inverted, but it considers this to be the "Normal" control scheme. So I change the camera control to "Invert X and Y Axes" and load up my existing game save. Well, once you load the save, the game reverts to the original settings for everything you just changed in the options menu. I tried this several times thinking I made a mistake and that I failed to save the custom settings before exiting the options menu, but the issue persisted. The only way I have found that the game successfully remembers your custom option settings is to adjust them before you start a new game and then proceed.

No complaints otherwise. This is my first playthrough ever and the game is gorgeous to be behold. I'll be playing this all through the Holidays!

The left half of the touchpad is the options menu.

Left side of touchpad acts as the 'Select' button and brings up the options menu to adjust all those features in-game. Right-side(or options button) bring up your inventory/fan menu.

Edit: Also answered above.

Can someone tell me how getting the theme works? Do I have to have an internet connection or something? Is it on the disc?

Controller support is completely borked on the steam version. You have to enable Steam overlay, and even then when you get it working, the camera turn speed is slow with no way to adjust.
