I guess there'd have to be an element of trust but if you're posting a time that's topping the leaderboard then you could screenshot the lap time and sector time page?
Do we expand this a little and make it a useful tool to know which cars work best on which circuits? So we designate a circuit and a car class and people can post times with different cars - it would make sense to do this with BoP on however. I just think this way we learn more about car choice as well as giving you more incentive to go back and keep trying with different cars.

Okay we have the manufacturers. Now we need to decide how to place people in them fairly. Maybe if everyone can list their top 3?

1. Porsche
2. Subaru
3. Ferrari

I don't really know enough about the cars to have a preference but I am intrigued to try a few new ones so I guess:

1. Alfa
2. Ferrari
3. Aston Martin (would feel guilty now if I didn't pick this)

Interesting choices there Rutty, looks like we're not gonna be team mates!

So we pick core 16 people assigned to the 8 teams and if people can't make it then the reserves get to pick which space to fill?

Heh, I'm here to have a good time, don't mind if I don't win :)

Plus that way I can blame the car when I lose ;-)

Although I still think teams should be seeded in some way, if the two fastest people happen to pick the same car, seems kind of wonky. We could seed teams and then manufacturers could be allocated to those teams using preferences?

Generally start braking at the double cones on the straight, turn into the corner when you reach the single cone and aim you car toward the single cone at the centre of the corner. Once you've passed the cone at the apex of the corner you should be back on the gas
Nice, this will help! Thanks!

Finally got around to finishing the campaign stuff. That ending movie is one of the clearest examples of why this game took so long to make.

Seriously PD really need to fix the gamma issue on some of the time of day presets on certain tracks in VR. Yamagawa at dusk is especially bad, since the last update with the cars the lighting has been completely fucked at certain times of day.

As far as I'm aware that doesn't work in time trial, only for campaign events and sport mode qualifying.
So stupid. I can only guess it's because there's so many variables to car set ups. I hope it's something they fix in future. Competing against my friends times is what kept me going back to drive club for so long.

Did the FIA Dragon Trail race in the Ferrari. Qualifying was a battlefield and couldn't get a good time recorded, so I started in 12th. Quickly moved up to 8th on the first lap, but I got into the dirt on the sweeping S curves as I was out of my normal line due to packed field. Ended up in 19th for that and spent the rest of the race climbing back up, finishing in 10th. I noticed that the people who were behaving the worst were in Meganes and Scirrocos, big surprise...

Found a bug in the FIA rankings for past seasons. In the Manufacturer races, if you pick an old season and look at your world ranking, the list is your current Manufacturer instead of the one you raced that season. Would be nice if there was actually a way to submit feedback.

Isn't it tied to your PSN DOB? I don't think you can change that easily, or can you?
Yeah not sure, I just remember hearing about the birthday thing in GT5 but I never tried myself.

So do we know yet if we are going to have a race this weekend? Just another trial run before kicking off the manufacturer thing properly in the new year? We could limit car choice to the 8 selected manufacturers and give people a chance to try out their no.1 selection, on a different track some peoples preferences may change.

Oh and if the Citroen is an issue (not an actual car, might be a bit too strong) then I'm happy to swap them out for Dodge and go for the Viper instead.

I'm definitely up for another trail race this weekend.

I might have a g29 sorted in time for then :)

I think that we should do a similar format to last time in that a location is selected and then do both the long and short variants of those tracks with two different sets of cars. So Brands Hatch and Suzuka both work.

Lets do Suzuka

Well Porsche is the clear favourite manufacturer so far and no-one has Nissan down as first choice... and we have 22 people down on the list, only 16 spaces available in a lobby and only 14 votes so far...

Porsche - 5
Subaru - 2
Mercedes - 2
Ferrari - 2
Aston Martin - 1
Citroen - 1
Alfa Romeo - 1

Because it's more interesting to have variety on the track where each car has different strengths and weaknesses. Apart from the OP cars (cough megane) and the OP manufacturers (cough VW) that have already been banned the rest of the cars are pretty even.
Variety will come from different racing styles, resulting in different lines and/or braking points and that translates (among other things) to different tire wear ratios which add even more and more on track variety. As for visual variety there are different liveries for that ;-)
I think that one make races are interesting option for us, imagine it for example with (upcoming) F40, it would be glorious!

PD really need to do something about the Megane/Scirocco as they're ruining Sport mode for me.

I'm in a Ferrari 458 Gr.4, I'm full power down the straight and the Meganes will just scream past me. It's ridiculous how much every other car is nerfed by comparison.

I've won 5 of 23 races so far (although to be fair, my GT noob mate raced about 10 of those without a win), so it's not like I'm a terrible driver, but it's gotten to the point whereby the only means of being competitive is to run the Megane.

I don't want to run a car for the sake of it, I want to run the cars I want to run.

I guess I need to stick to the single make races.

I find it bizarre that they still haven't fixed the Megane and the Scirocco. Just had a race with 16 other players and only 4 people had something else than Megane/Scirocco.

Yeah it's crap they haven't addressed this yet - if you want to try something else that might be competitive then go for the Corvette. Around Dragon Trail is was a match for the 2 usual suspects ( though it'll probably be worst on more technical tracks).

I think it's because they're both FF cars and in whatever equation they run to try and balance the cars they're offsetting the downsides of FF with too much power and grip. They should understeer more than they do basically.
