What is Night in the Woods?
NIGHT IN THE WOODS is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. After a successful Kickstarter was created by Infinite Fall, a teamup of Alec Holowka (Aquaria), Scott Benson (Late Night Work Club), and Bethany Hockenberry.

What's different in the Weird Autumn Edition?
The Weird Autumn Edition acts as a "director's cut" of sorts for Night in the Woods. It adds "a whole bunch of new content" like new mini-games, and dream sequences. The supplemental games are also included in this release of the game on all platforms except for PS4 which will be getting them early next year.

What's This About Supplemental Games?
During the development of Night in the Woods the developers created two (canon) experiences that act as side stories to the game. Both are available here on Windows, Linux and Mac for a "pay what you want" asking price if you want to get them standalone. They are not required background material for Night in the Woods.

Metacritic/Opencritic for Original Release

Windows Central: 4.5/5
Though some of its gameplay can feel overly repetitive, Night in the Woods soundly delivers a relatable, impactful narrative that will keep players attached for the ride, from start to finish — all held together by beautiful stylized graphics.

Xbox Achievements: 80/100
One of the year's most enjoyable indie titles, Night in the Woods is what Kickstarter was made for. Affecting, warm and genuine, it's impossible not to fall in love with Night in the Woods.

This has a pretty underrated soundtrack. I didn't expect three discs when I first heard about the game and I was even more surprised that it turned out so well.

I'll probably replay. Gotta hang out with Gregg this time!

so, how much new content are we talking about? I did it on my friend steam account, so i wouldn't mind to buy it, but not sure if i want to take the time to redo the whole game just to discover like a few added scene

I bought the game when it came out but quickly dropped it when I heard there were glitched trophies. Does this edition fix the glitched trophies / make some of them easier to obtain (since some of those pages are hard to fill right?)?

Probably my GOTY along with Edith Finch. This quarter life crisis hit me hard.

How is the new stuff experienced, like a separate DLC or part of the main game?

Wait, I'm in the middle of this game right now. If this is an update, will it change my game to the new version in the middle of my playthrough? That seems like it could mess things up if there's a sequence of new scenes that it puts me in the middle of.

I really want to replay this, but I really want to do it on Switch with a physical copy. I was hoping they'd have announced something for Switch by now.

Oh man, I forgot this was coming out. I bought the game over the last Steam sale and started playing it. How long does it take to beat? It says I've played it for 6 hours. Should I just continue and finish the game now or should I restart?

One of my favorite games of the year in a year stacked with quality games. Excited for my newly-enhanced fourth playthrough.

Gregg rulz ok

Love love love this game, wish I could persuade more of my friends to play it, but it's a fruitless endeavour :(

Always wanted to play this but avoided as I'm not too fond of gaming on my crappy laptop. Switch version it is! Console is getting some excellent ports of high quality games.

Give me Hollow Knight next year and (hopefully) Undertale one day and I'll be happy as a clam.

I'd already picked this up on console, but may pick it up again on PC instead. Just to check, there's no way to turn off the animated text on PS4, is there? It seems like its an option on PC. Whilst the text in NITW is comparatively quite quick in comparison to other games, I'm still finding it's not quick enough, and in a dialogue heavy game, it's not my favorite thing. (That's always been the bane of my existence in RPGs!)

On a less neurotic note, Night in the Woods' art direction is stunning as hell, and the dialogue is wonderfully snappy. Really looking forward to finally digging into this!

I loved NitW so much. I definitely need to replay it at some point in order to see Bea's story(Greg rulz ok). I also really liked the Lost Constellation supplemental game, especially to play in the winter.

The game was definitely timely. They did a pretty good job of representing what small-town middle America is like at a time when a lot of people elsewhere in the country were waking up to its existence following the election.

Oh man, I forgot this was coming out. I bought the game over the last Steam sale and started playing it. How long does it take to beat? It says I've played it for 6 hours. Should I just continue and finish the game now or should I restart?

My Steam playtime says 9 hours.

I found the game's tone to be very relatable and characters very charming. However I had to look up videos explaining the third act (which was also badly paced).

I missed
the light as indicator for where to go in the dream sequences
which made these sequences a chore that had me stop playing a few times.

Can I just buy the PSN version that's up right now or do I have to specifically buy the Weird Autumn Edition.

Edit: Never mind just read this

I'm looking forward to seeing what the "Director's Cut" changes are. But first, to replay the supplemental games.

Definitely going to replay this game. 2017 was packed but this game still stood out for me with its characters and writing.

Shoot, it wasn't. Got my wires crossed there too.
You lied to me OP. For that, I will never forgive you.

Ohh well. Hopefully this gets announced soon for the Switch, but if not I can wait. I got plenty on my plate as is. That said this is one of several major indie titles that I definitely want to see come to the platform eventually as it looks fantastic. Worse comes to worse I'll go in for PC and with any luck Rainway really works as advertised and gets released in a timely fashion.

Can't wait to play again, but on Xbox this time! Loved the heck out of the "base" version, especially because it's based on my home state. Everything hit so damn close to home thanks to excellent writing, and a town that's basically the same as the one I grew up in.

I've only played about 30 mins into the game. Do I need to start over to pick up the changes?

I've been waiting for this. Does anyone know if this comes to EU PSN this week? It wasn't included in the playstation blog release list for this week. Apparently, it should be up now on all platforms but i don't see it on the EU PSN store yet.

I'm several hours in to base Night in the Woods (half way?), and while it's great so far I'm not the kind of person who replays story driven games. Should I try to port my savegame over to weird autumn? I really don't feel like playing through the whole game twice.

Don't think I'll jump back in right now, but I'll probably double dip if/when it hits Swtich to do another playthrough for the New Stuff.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers which is why I'm asking this here instead of Googling (sorry!) but is there anyway to play the original cut after updating? Would people recommend playing the original over the director's cut?

I'm curious about this as well.

I've played the base game and loved it, but I'm wondering if that experience is lost to the void.

Apparently there is a way to download specific versions of a game from Steam. I bought the game through itch.io and looking at my purchases I'm still able to download the initial release so there are definitely ways for people to still experience the original release. I'll probably just play the original release but I'm still trying to figure out if I can do it without running Steam in offline mode as it would be nice to track my play time and achievements.

Can anyone say what happens if you let the game update in the middle of a playthrough? I've been having to leave steam in offline mode because of this.
