I've got a gig left to install and then I'm going to see for myself.
Got my first top ten with three kills! Just shat it at the end though as the circle kept getting smaller and I made a stupid dash to get to another house.

There was a decent performance boost in the summer, and there's a huge one on the test servers version right now.
Nah it's not like that. It's just that it would have been nice if they paid some attention to that, but at the same time I get it. It's also a small team and it's not about that, as I said in my comment.
DF probably treated it like most publications did when it game to them added it to their GOTY nomination. It checked enough boxes to be treated as a "released" title, and the early access tagged was being used as sort of a shield for anything unfavorable about it.
The new map ran exponentially better on the PC. Releasing the new map, and optimizing the old may be a good solution.
Yes, it's "Copy & Paste" Island, that's nothing new and it bothers me too, but it still has some good variety cause the map is so huge and will become much better with the new map, watch some streams from that, you will fall in love with that cause that one feels and looks phenomenal, specially the outside area.
Reach 17 of 100. Getting there. As the numbers dwindle, things start to feel too tense. Its like a horror game almost.
I love Digital Foundry. I really do. It's nice to have this information out there from a trusted resource — it potentially puts leverage on developers to improve their games.
I dunno, from what ive heard about it on PC is that its not much better there.
I am bad at MP FPS games but I managed to get my first chicken dinner in only my 5th game! I'm still hyped 30 minutes later! :)

There was a lot of luck, but I also like to think I picked/chose my fights as much as I could. Near the end I let someone run past me as there were shots in the trees all around. And I got away with crawling from end-game circle to end-game circle until there were three left.

To be fair I think they use some skill-based matchmaking so all the leets should be off fighting each other.
I had initial interest in this thread or game, so not really went here to cause problems : )
The game is just too much fun. I guess it becomes easier to overlook its faults when the fun factor is through the roof. Also its still early access, so I'm not concerned.
I am having a lot of fun with this game. There's still so much to learn. I think it is going to be a while before I understand the ins and outs of everything, but that's what will keep me coming back for a long time.

I don't think there ever was a trial. Releasing the trial version would negatively impact servers based on what MS stated.
Finished 2nd in my second match. Got run over by a car at the end by a guy who just drove around for the final 5 minutes of the game.
I'm guessing there's a trick to dealing with them but it seems pretty cheap to me.

Should I be just lighting up the car or try to pick the driver off? I'm really not sure how much damage they can take.
Click on rewards, then press Y to request a crate. It's just for cosmetics

Both. The car won't take that much damage before catching on fire. And you can def get shots in on the driver.
I think that there's a lot of stuff built into the map that's really holding performance back, because the new map on the test server runs like 50% faster. I would imagine that they're going to go back and apply what they've learned on the new map to the old one at some point, although it's a shame they couldn't just launch with it out of the gate.

This game is amazing. Not sure I can take the tension of more than a couple of games at a time.
Seems like managing the map position relative to the circle is key. 3 times I ended up making a late dash when the numbers were below 30 and late dashes seemingly don't end well.
FPS dips when aiming down sight need fixing. Other than that very playable in my view.
It's going to have a big following on console but I suspect many will be put off by the complexity and also the fact that for large parts of the game you are best off not engaging in any combat.
The tension it creates is superb.

Aim for the driver. But even hitting the car or it's tires will do.
