yeah HDR looks really good in MHW, it's a great fit for the diverse naturalistic environments and changing weather.
framerate isn't locked 30 in resolution mode but it's reasonably stable, while the framerate mode usually hovers around 50. the 1080p graphics-priority mode might be the best bet for locked 30, but i haven't tried it.
HDR isn't as impactful as I have found in some other games, but it is present, and it is always incredibly welcome. I will be so thankful when it becomes ubiquitous. Good job Capcpom.
I finally got to
really play the beta (spent about 2 hours today).
For those interested, most of that was using resolution mode. In my experience, framerate seemed quite stable, even when I ended up with ~8 monsters and some fire effects on screen. Not 60 of course, but it was certainly up-to-par for someone like myself who isn't particularly bothered by lower framerates as long as they are somewhat consistent.
Also, as someone who gets motion sickness (hello Okami HD. Who decided you needed that dreadful motion blur?) I was also happy with the FOV, camera, lack of screen tearing, etc. So, whilst motion sickness is a pretty niche issue, if you are like me, I would say this game is a safe buy. Finally, I can stop pulling out my Wii-U for MH3U.
And, back to Okami. Does anyone know if there is a motion blur toggle in the PC version? I have been waiting 10 years to be able to play that game without vomiting. It seems that the PS4 version still has it, so I am thinking it might be hardcoded at this point.
