Inpatient Uses Voice Recognition.
https://uploadvr.com/psx-2017-inpatient-voice-preview/

My experience with The Inpatient this weekend was highlighted by two key features: the voice-recognition powered dialog system and wonky locomotion. For the dialog system every time a character spoke to me I'd have two potential responses appear in the air, floating next to their head. The one on the left represented a positive affirmation-type response, while the one on the right was always more negative, skeptical, or sarcastic.

For example, if a character asks what I'm doing in the asylum, options might say something like "I don't remember," or "I'm on vacation." Clearly the first one is more genuine, whereas the second one is cracking a sarcastic joke. Instead of picking my choice with by pressing a button on a controller I had to literally speak it out loud. As in, using my actual real life mouth and voice.

It's a relatively minor thing, but when combined with the immersive power of VR, it makes me never want to pick a dialog option in another VR game ever again. Games like Skyrim VR have silent protagonists, but countless VR titles like Arizona Sunshine feature voiced characters that can be jarring for the player to hear. If I'm led to believe that I'm embodying a character inside a VR game and then another voice comes out of my face, it breaks the immersion. The Inpatient circumvents that issue by asking you to speak the words instead.

Now I'm stumped why that hasn't been adopted already for dialog trees. If your choices are set by the developers, you'd think it would be reasonably easy to have the voice recognition system distinguish among them, even with regional dialects.

Hopefully they'll be able to fix the wonky locomotion before release.

Guys, has this ever happened to you?
Any time i launch a game that supports the move controllers for the first time, the move controllers light just dims dramatically, and they do not appear in the game at all. The controllers work in the regular menu and everything, just not in game. Sometimes starting the game with the ds4 and THEN switching works great. Sometimes nothing will turn them on. Recalibrating, turning everything off and on, make sure i'm logged into the right user.... idk what to do.
Did you resolve this issue? The one time this happened to me the LED cable had come loose*, had to dissassemble my Move controller and reattach/solder the cable.

*Due to repeatedly smashing my controller against the wall playing Sparc.

I feel like VR and PSVR are making developers find very cool solutions to very intriguing problems

Star Trek Bridge Crew uses voice recognition. Commanding your A.I. crew mates using voice commands works very well.

I used smooth turn and quick movement on RE7, but I had to start with short sessions (20m-30m to 1h)
At the end I could play the "action" extra missions for 1h hour... and these are damn hard to keep on playing in VR... really... the fast action and the tension... so I suggest to not give up, just stop before feeling "bad", do short session and you will get used to it.

Thanks, I'll stick to very short sessions in RE7 and Skyrim too, I have a feeling that game's going to be an issue also.

I haven't tried turning on smooth movement in RE7 since upgrading to a Pro last week. I'll have to give it a whirl and see if the upped graphical fidelity mitigates the motion sickness I felt like I would've gotten had I used that during my prior play-throughs.

Got my Skyrim bundle delivered to my office as I wouldn't be at home. Now realising what a pain it'll be to get home on public transport. Also not quite sure whether to leave it boxed up as a 'family' Christmas present or just get it set up ASAP

Still waiting a few days for my move controllers and charging base from CEX though so no hurry

I did incremental movement on RE7 and still loved it. I do better with smooth movement on games where I'm standing up and using the Move or Aim controller. Less disassociation.

Oh man, Until Dawn is like being thrown into a hopper of gore, which I suppose would be family friendly if you're Gomez Addams.

Tumble VR's a great family-friendly game. Others that I've played: Wayward Sky, Job Simulator, GNOG (if the kids are good at puzzles). Playroom VR is a must-play for family-friendliness.

Robinson: The Journey is clearly pitched at kids (so much so that I found it a little annoying), but it's almost a PSVR launch game, and when I tried it at release it definitely tended to make me queasy - that's probably a combination of the game itself and my not yet having VR legs.

Turned out I had to log out of all accounts except the one i wasn't using. Had to have everything connected to the account I was using, start the game with a controller and THEN turn on the moves. Crazy.

Goodness, that Star Wars BF1 mission was awesome! Wouldn't mind a full fledged game. Only downside is I got my first experience with dizziness from it.

So good though.

Im trying to play a non-VR game and I can't get any audio unless I have the headset turned on. I thought the box had a pass through on it?

Why did you order extra Move controllers?

I must be one of the lucky few. I booted up my PSVR for the first time last night and tentatively started with VR worlds...

...within an hour I was speeding around in RIGS with all the blinkers off with absolutely no nausea. Same for skyrim, smooth movement, no blinkers, no nausea.

I take back my scepticism around VR. Its truly amazing.

I think this latest crop of announcements pushed me over the edge. Looks good that I'll pick up a PSVR some time early next year.

Can I say I'm WORRIED about GOLEM? It was probably the most-hyped of the first batch of PSVR games. High profile Bungie staffers left to work on it, and now it didn't even make PS' big stage at Paris Games Week. Kinda shocking when that little magic mouse game got a few minutes of screen time. The idea that this GOLEM is coming out in 3 months without a big push from Sony is worrying.

You mean this Golem? Which just got a blog post? It was playable at PSX wasn't it? Hopefully we'll get some impressions.

Wipeout collection is 15.99 on US PSN for those interested in the VR patch that it's getting soon.

Raw Data is 27.99 as well.

I've seen a few posts about the move controllers. I left one plugged into my PS4 overnight to charge, and then swapped out the other when I woke up. It had several hours to charge. When I booted everything up it still showed up as having no battery, and ended up dying after about half an hour. Do these charge obnoxiously slowly, or do I have a faulty Move controller? This came out of the box, new.

That doesn't sound right. They should be full in 3-4 hours...

It looks like a handful of PSVR games are on sale, a couple of which have been on my radar for a while. Anyone have any impressions of the following:

Archangel (currently $17.09)
Dying: Reborn VR (current $0.99)
Oasis Games Shooter VR Bundle (currently $2.49)
Soul Dimension (currently $2.49)

Check your power settings on your PS4. Maybe the USB ports aren't set to have power in sleep mode.

You could also charge them with a phone charger.

Obduction is on sale and is supposed to get VR support "someday"

Has anyone played the game? It didn't get high scores though so I wonder...
