Haven't read much of this OT but quick question.

I did the first part where you have to do 4 Shrines with the one hit weapon.

So then it moves onto the next section. 4 areas in the world with 3 shrines each?....

Is this just shrine after shrine? :(

More or less. You do have to find the shrines, though, and the search for them all have quests attached.

Reading about the bike being added just reminded me of the early concept art for BOTW they showed a while ago, lol:

So how kickass is the phantom ganon armor and what stat does it have?
Terrible armor rating. Like beginning game rating. But the full set bonus increases stealth like the Sheikah set, increases attacked power, and makes enemies not attack you like Majora's Mask.

Edit: also can't upgrade it.

Ok I just started into the champions ballad and it's really fucking hard. I had to go to hateno village for some arrows because I was trying to attack the enemy camps with just the weapon.
That didn't turn out too well. We'll see how it goes with some bombs arrows...

I'm really happy with this DLC so far.

The 1-hit-kill parts are tough, but it's a fun challenge nonetheless. I love that you don't have access to the Champions' abilities throughout the time. Really forces you to approach things carefully and cautiously, think things through like taking out scouts with arrows first, and then the shrines you get to after each section are tons of fun.

Man what a wonderful game.

Final boss was best in the game. The amount of moves it had put other bosses to shame.

Oh and the bike is awesome, especially taking it off mountains!

How do you guys deal with the flocks of keese? They keep killing me.

I got up really high so I'd only have to deal with them. Then I just shot bomb arrows at them. It's very satisfying to see a bunch of them all drop dead at the same time.

I think you can also use stasis.

The bike is fun. I'm riding it to each city to read the Champions Diaries and visiting spots I hadn't been to thanks to hero's path. Found a Lynel I hadn't beaten in the western part of Hebra,
rode through the canyon with the Ganondorf costume on and the fire dragon flying over me, and rode through Akkala with the Thunder Helmet on doing wheelies while lightnings struck me.
I killed so many animals on my way though, I wanted to jump from the bike over to a bear who was running next to me, but I crashed into him and insta-killed him :(

Why can't I see the flame dragon in Revali's Song. I've been on the right spot for 2 days now and I see nothing!

Did you talk to the Rito who's hanging there? I talked to him, then I slept til night. When I woke up, the Rito was standing by the edge of the cliff and the Dragon appeared right away.

How do you guys deal with the flocks of keese? They keep killing me.

I had a Lynel bow, shot into the pack and they flew away.

I do wish that people would react to your bike, like they should react with astonishment if you talk to them while driving it.

So what's the verdict? Enough content to be worth $20?
I like the base BOTW but the DLC was really poor IMO. Its basically recycled content that you do in 4 areas with a few cutscenes that dont form any cohesive story.

The new shrines are OK and the dungeon is about as good as any of the existing ones. The motorbike maybe worth it... although it doesnt feel fast enough for me.

I didn't really like this DLC.

New shrines were good, and the new dungeon was basically as advertised: another Divine Beast.

But the "story" wasn't really worth writing home about, the lack of a decent selection of new areas/enemies was really strongly felt, and the Master Cycle Zero is pretty pointless.

Also, I didn't want another Divine Beast.

Best part of the DLC was probably the challenge at the beginning, if only for the fact that it at least added a unique layer of atmosphere on top of a familiar zone, plus the mystique of the new weapon.

need some assistance with audio when switch connected to monitor via HDMI. (This is Zelda related as I want to play Zelda on my monitor).

I have a Logitech Z5500 where the switch is connected to my TV via HDMI and the TV is connected via optical to an optical switch. Finally, the optical switch is connected to my Z5500 received. Now... I can play the Switch on my monitor, but the monitor of course does not have optical and the built in internal speakers are horrible. I plugged my headphones in to the monitor and the volume is really low. I want to play the switch on my monitor but I want my 5.1 sound to somehow work as well. Thoughts?

It's definitely a very rude shrine but it's fairly easy.
You just have to take it slow. Don't try to stasis anything because it'll just throw off your rythym.
The hardest part is the end, because the fear of the Wall makes you play too fast. You can move through it at a glacial pace and still have plenty of time to spare however.

Just started and liking it so far. I cleared out the enemy camps and tackling the associated shrines at the moment. I like the pacing of the quest so far, makes it feel quite different than the base game.

At first I thought the Obliterator was much like the Master Sword with a rather long cool down timer, but once I realized the cool down wasn't that long clearing out the camps was quite easy.

Looking forward to the rest of the quest.

Definitely enough content for $20. However, if you had issues with BotW and are looking for this DLC to fix those, it won't. It's more of the base game, which is a very good thing in my eyes. But maybe not others.

That sums it up for me as well. I think the second DLC is excellent so far and I think some of the shrines and puzzles have been best in the whole game. Also I've been really enjoying those little story scenes in between.

I was so confused when I started the DLC, I misunderstood the OHK weapon's purpose so I was like

Ok I can only use this thing once or twice and then it breaks and I'm weaponless. So I clearly have to use my environment. Ok how the fuck am I gonna do this, just use bombs to kill everything and save The Weapon for whatever bosses lurk in these Shrines?

Then I eventually paused and saw that I had my bow available and was like oh my goddddddd

I only used the Champion's weapon once, and it was on accident while I was fighting a medium sized Guardian. I panicked and it had been so long since I last played I reflexively tried to use my sword - whoops! If it hadn't been for that though I never would have used it. Probably could have finished that whole section so much faster if I had hahahahaha

I used a bomb arrow to disperse of the Keese. I thought I'd have to kill each one in the flock but they GTFO as soon as I launched just one into their group.

Almost the same for me. The monk's voice did say that you wouldn't be able to use it for some time though, not that it broke completely. I thought it was like the master sword reload time, so I almost didn't use it at first. After a while a friend who had played the section watched me play and was like "why don't you use the weapon?". Turns out it runs out of energy after two hits (probably so you can't go into a melee), but that it reloads like the flame swords. The blade turns grey and gradually gets blue again after a couple of seconds.

Honestly, given how many new tools these DLCs gave you, Nintendo should make a proper DLC expansion (one that doesn't massively reuse assets) with a new story, a la TW3's Blood & Wine, as a season 2 expansion. Make it big, varied, challening. A new open zone (not as large as Hyrule, maybe as big as the zone around a single tower), new enemy types, a new threat, new story that takes place post-game that lets you use all your tools. That's what I really want in an expansion.

If they're going to do something like that I'd prefer them to just do a sequel ala Majora's Mask.

The horse armor that lets you summon your horse feels pointless in a DLC pack that also includes something better than a horse, that's also instantly summoned.

Might have been better to do that armor in pack 1.

Although, I suppose in a save file that wasn't completed before downloading the DLC, it would be a lot more useful.

Both DLCs really feel built around having not played the game at all because they're both better the earlier you have them in game. Like the horse armor. You'd be able to get that very early, you'd just have to find the spots. And then you'd have that for a long time until you beat the DLC and get the bike.

Thunderblight was the only one that gave me any difficulty. His Regen was pretty quick if you miss a flurry attack

I think if they made it faster the game wouldn't be able to keep up. The game already pauses for me every once in a while to load when I'm riding it. Not sure if my SD card is slow (digital version), or if everyone gets them.

Yeah, I've also seen glitches that I've never seen elsewhere while on the bike.

Not only I liked very much the dlc, I also think that the new shrines, the new dungeon and the final challenge are the highlights of the entire game.

The best puzzles for sure, even if the first shrines are a bit too difficult. And the quality of the cutscenes is tremendously higher than the original game bits.

Overall, this pack makes Botw the gotyer game ever for me. The final prize is also worth it because STORMING THE HYRULE CASTLE ON A BIKE IS INSANE.

I've done two shrines so far, Major Test+ and Stop to Start. Among the game's very best. Major Test+ is a huge step up from the standard tests of strength. I stopped playing at Collected Soul, will pick it up again tomorrow. I liked Stop to Start except for the bridge section. Maybe it's because I just finished Mario Odyssey and got used to Mario's crisp and responsive movement, but Link's behavior near ledges feels inconsistent, and he often slips when it seems he shouldn't. Besides that I thought it was a great shrine. This is the kind of challenge that BotW could have used more of.

Going back to BotW reminds me once again how special it is. It's so gorgeous! Just stunning, even months later. I have to stop and admire the look of everything on the hazy plateau.

The rest of the shrines are just as good. These are by far the best puzzles in the game.
