He leaned into it, that makes any punch more effective. Can't really play with that against natural 205'ers who cut down to MW. Even iron chinned gods like Mark Hunt go down when they get caught leaning into a strike.

It's not about Machida having a "weak chin", it is more about his defense being that "elusive" karate style where you go "all in" on dodging instead of blocking at all.

Looks great when he weaves strikes, but he's susceptible to getting clipped by keeping his hands so low. McGregor has the same habit, live and die by the sword.

"Watched" the fights while playing PUBG. Maia looked like he had Championship loss hangover. Reminded me of 185lb Maia that gasses after a round.
Machida fight ended exactly as expected. Told my buddy I was playing with that it was going to be a quick fight. I really don't understand why he got back in a cage.

As usual, Machida was winning until he wasn't.

Yeah, speed is always the first thing that goes. Bummer but I hope all three M's (Miller, Maia, Machida) retire. All three won't, they want to chase that high of a win and/or go out on a win but it's over. Miller probably wants a retirement fight closer to home.

I agree that Miller and Machida should hang it up, Miller due to the crazy wars he's been in and Machida due to the loss of chin.

Maia I think can still compete, he just needs to work on his cardio. Or maybe I'm wrong and he's just too old for that at this point.

Can you really blame Machida's chin here? The guy walked right into Brunson's overhand. A punch like that is going to give many people in the division issues. There's a reason the guy has a record filled with R1 finishes. No doubt he's on a decline but I think this was a much too risky fighter to return to.

I do agree he should not keep going much longer. For a fighter known for his elusiveness to now be getting caught so often is just sad. Not worth it.

Stopped following pre fight hype about a year. This happens all the time now, I know of cards a week before and it's amazing.

I binge the embeddeds an hour before the PPV.

I fucking hate that Hendricks is on the main card. 1 - 4 in his last 5 fights, with that one win being a close decision against Lombard. Dude should be in the early prelims and Vick/Duffy or Oleinik/Blaydes bumped up to the main card.
