Yeah, there are loads of similar cheap cases compared to those few known brands. Thx for the warning/reminder.
I am looking for a lip-less thin case. The pictures shown for the one you exemplarily linked are a joke, though. As seen with lots of these cheap cases both pics and reviews are fake. Kind of a game of luck. Then again we're taking about very cheap products..

Greetings

I've put three 4K HDR demo files on my X. First I downloaded them from the 4K media site on my Mac. I only chose the ones that were in MP4 format. There's a few different formats that they come in, Samsung's demos were not MP4.
Once I downloaded them I put them into iTunes and then transferred them to my X using iTunes.

Of course, the videos don't play at 4K as the iPhone X doesn't have a 4K screen but the colours are nice and sharp, HDR. 60fps too.

Gmail still isn't updated for iPhoneX. What the fuck.

Any good mail apps that work with Google Apps for Business?

Google Inbox isn't either, it's a bit of a shame. Sheets, Keep, Maps, etc. are updated though, so I suppose it won't be too much longer.

Man a week into having this phone and I fucking love it compared to the Xperia XZ and the galaxy s8+

Same here but will have mine later next week, can't wait. I am switching back after 3 years on Samsung.

Interestingly for me, my biggest issue with Android is the resale value. I change every year and and each time, the prices get cut in half. With iphones, less problems which is nice. The resale value is good and i dont loose too much.

Also depending on what they release next year, i might not take a new one, the screen size is perfect (a bit more than S8 and a bit less than S8+ which i find a bit too much for me.

I got my phone on Thursday night (actually Friday midday because that's when my screen protector arrived and I refused to use it til then :lol) and wow, I'm really loving it. It just feels great, and so intuitive to use gestures. Really feels like the whole thing is just controlled with your thumb in a super natural position.

my issue is the inconsistency in app quality on android and the fact it feels like it slows down chronically after a few months.

What are the major differences when selecting a new iPhone in the Apple store between "Replace This iPhone" vs. "Buy a new iPhone" and selecting SIM-free?

I notice that there are SIM-free iPhones available for store pickup but not AT&T ones.

Can I buy a SIM-free, and then just swap SIM cards?

Weird, two nights in a row my iPhone X hasn't been fully charged, after leaving it on a wireless charger. The first night it was around 80% and today it was 40%. Anyone else have this happen? I'll have to test the charger and phone today while I'm awake I guess to see if it's properly charging.

Make sure your phone isn't being bumped or moved off the charger. There's not a large window to get it to see the coils.

Yes, happens to me about once a week. I put it on the charger, hear the chime, come back and it went DOWN in percentage because it stopped charging seemingly almost immediately

I wear an Apple Watch and my phone isn't set to vibrate for anything so I know that's not it

I bought this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075JBRJ39/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like it, make sure to get a screen protector to avoid the cover from rubbing up against the actual screen
Hard to recommend a folio case after having a major issue with the official Apple folio.

When taking a call in a noisy environment, the flap can block the noise canceling mic inside the camera module. Was on a call and my friend said my voice was muffled. Problem fixed itself as soon as I uncovered the mic.

I've found if you don't get it fully on the charger, your case is too thick, or there is something blocking the back of the phone this happens to me. Usually it's reliable though.

This setup is taking for fucking ever. Every screen take 5-10 minutes to get to the next one. This can't be how it was intended....

Maybe your charger turns itself off after a few hours?

I don't think so, like I said it's never been an issue before.

Weird, wonder if the 11.2 update caused this issue. I use an Apple Watch too and use vibrate on my phone, so theorized maybe texts were just nudging it off a bit. My phone is in a case right now.

I use an Apple leather case, never been an issue before. Maybe my positioning was a bit off centre those nights, even though it did indicate it was charging.

Tested it after work, before charging performed a hard reset and it seemed to charge fine. So it was either an issue with placement and something causing it to move or it was a software glitch.

"Selfissimo" and "Scrubbies." Two new photo apps by Google. Really awesome.

https://www.macrumors.com/2017/12/11/google-ios-experimental-photography-apps/

You're not wrong, these are fun.

You wouldn't happen to know of a photoframe/slideshow type app that I can import photos into, so that they can be cycled through randomly while my phone charges, would you? I optimise my photo library so that only thumbnails are saved, and the irritating side-effect of this is that any photos I add to slideshows in apps like Nightstand or Photo Frame disappear because the phone doesn't realise I'm using them.

Failing that, is there a way to perma-download full versions of photos from iCloud? Used to be I could upload any photos I wanted on my device to an iCloud Photo Sharing album, because for some reason they stayed in the library in full. This no longer works, and I can't seem to find an app that works as an alternative.

I just can't get over how gorgeous this Samsung display is. I've had quite a few amoled phones and even tablets in my time, but this one trumps all of them. Especially in combination with Apple's truetone. It's just so good to look at, no matter what you do on it. The edge to edge only enhances the experience, of course.

I'm having a problem in Safari where tapping the top of the address bar won't jump me to the top of the page. If I tap on the address bar itself to type a url but then back out, it starts working again. Anyone aware of this issue?

Is there a wireless charger that there is a good consensus on? Looking to get one for my wife for Christmas and after doing some research the Samsung branded one seems to have good reviews.

On Windows you just use the iCloud app.
I'm sure Mac has something similar?

No, I want to do this on my phone, not my Mac. The only options in the photos app are for a canned slideshow that's essentially a movie, not just a perpetual shuffle through an album, and the iCloud Drive app doesn't give me access to any photos, because the OS assumes I can do everything I want with them in Photos.

Apple still designed/configured/etc this display. All Samsung did was manufacture it. But yeah they still get props for being the only manufacturer able to produce it as Apple spec'd.

Tapping the gap between the URL bar and the notch works 100% of the time for me. Anywhere above the URL bar actually.

One thing that continues to irritate me about this phone (beyond the idiotic Control Center placement) is that the Facial Awareness feature doesn't work as I expected. When I look away from the screen and it dims, and then I look back, it should know I'm looking at it again and disable the auto-dim and auto-lock from happening. But it just stays dim until I raise the phone. This wouldn't be a huge deal except for the fact that the dimming happens after only a few seconds of looking away.

Saw some people complaining about overnight wireless charging and actually tonight my phone has charged to only 94% and when I tried to unlock it had that message that the phone needs passcode when it's restarted.

Maybe wireless charging is that slow (I was under 5 hours in bed) or it got knocked out of place at some point. But why the hell did it restart? I mean, it didn't install any update. I checked.

Weird.

How exactly does Apple care work? If I get a scratch on the screen in an ugly place can I just get it replaced? What's the turnaround time?

Also, anyone else having an issue where replying to Facebook messenger messages via notifications doesn't actually send the message until you open the app?

I think iOS devices just ask for the code from time to time. My iPad does the same.
