I've pre-registered for packs the last two expansions because I want to support the game, but even after 60 packs today I don't feel like I've got my money's worth because I didn't get the cards I wanted to play what I want.

Anyone else feel this way? How do you deal with it? Do you just play a lot and amass gold? Did you sacrifice a class for dust? Do you just buy tons of packs? This should be a time of super excitement, but instead, I just feel like I'm missing out. : /

I'm still new to this game but it hurts to hear that even the veterans can't make any deck they want.

It would have been nice if everybody got to choose his legendary weapon. You would have a good start to build a deck or just have the weapon for your favorite class. I'am also not sure if it's good to have forced synergy between legendaries. I got the Hunter weapon for example but I don't know if any minionless Hunter deck works without Darkstalker Rexxar which I don't have.

When you have a legendary that is unusable without 2-3 other legendaries you feel really bad.

i feel like a subscription model is what they're working towards. it's blizzard. 1/3 of an expansion each month for a monthly fee. i'd be the first sucker to hunker down for it and i think it'd feel a lot better to pay $30 a expansion over time and get everything. maybe you keep the current options open and offer subscription, but you have to buy a year at a time or something. maybe you can't dust subscription cards or something. still awful but anything beats this

Turns out a 3 mana fireball with trample is pretty good.
why would you not play it? like is it even countered by anything other than eggs and divine shields? i hope it goes super saiiyan so i can just run the mill with some dumb egg decks but its obviously broken by anyone with any concept of cards needing pros and cons lol

I'm in the same boat, what I've got from almost 90 packs is not what I needed to make what I want and I've got a decent collection. I agree, if they allowed you to choose your legendary weapon that would have been something. But I dunno, at this point I'm considering just questing my way back into some gold and playing Arena. It's either that or I'm considering just not playing the game any more - feels like so much cash wasted now.

carnivorous cube needs to be banned from arena lol wtf is that. they seriously just completely ignore game design principles at this point.

Speed Force
Me playing Spell Rogue. Opponent playing Rogue.

Then they play Hallucination which they use to pick Jewled Macaw which randomly gets them Weasel Tunneler, the one card that completely fucks my deck. I don't know what the fucking chances of that happening are.

Initial impressions are that Lynessa is just a solid 7-drop for Paladin, and Val'anyr has been above expectations so far.

it could be like a starter pack every month or something like that. there's alot of ways they could do it; i'm just saying if you look at the industry and blizzard, i really see it as inevitable to some extent, as an added option at least.
Heck, you don't need a subscription model, just make each class a semi-reasonable constructed deck that is missing some of the biggest (new) bombs every set, and put them up for sale.

The deck is better dust value than packs? Then you make decks one-time purchases.

Aluneth was actually my free weapon, better give that deck a try.
drawing 3 cards per turn and playing most of them for free with the secret cards and abusing a secret that freaking goes face if there's any change left after hitting a minion can't possibly be anything less than solid lol
i thought that card was too slow or could mill yourself but i forgot how degenerate secret mechanics in mage are

I haven't played a lot of RinLock, cuz there were so many secret hunter.

So far I like secret mage, seriously the new secret is game changing. It's like you saying "You played 1 health minion to avoid mirror entity? You just got 5 damage to your face!".

Spider rogue and spell hunter also fun. Might craft Rexxar if the meta already set. I also need to craft 2 Voidlords.

Hey

Im very new to hearthstone but enjoying my time with the game

I have no idea about building decks so I just roll with a basic warlock or priest deck and Try to change out cards with same cost cards that do things e.g have a more interesting battlecry/deathrattle when I get them from packs, im learning but im terrible, win maybe 1 out of 5 games but im enjoying it regardless, it helps its very quick about getting you back into a game and I can play on my ipad

I feel the ui can be quite confusing sometime, I was looking for a thing that shows you what cards are in an expansion and what you have in that set but I can't seem to get anything like that? And I don't really have much of a clue about which is better between standard and wild and what cards I can play in one or the other any help would be appreciated

Man the reward structure in Hearthstone is so far behind any other digital ccg its insane. The dungeon run is fun the first few times, but with no rewards tied to cards/packs or the likes it ends up getting tedious real fast. Ah well..

Man, I'm so conflicted now.

I've dusted cards to make new stuff in the past--things like Madam Goya and Call of the Wild only to see that they're playable now. I don't want to craft them now because they'll be gone in exactly one set, and now I'm paranoid about dusting anything.

A long while ago, I made the decision to dust a lot of my Wild cards and focus on Standard; that includes most of GvG and even some adventure cards like Brann and Kel'Thuzad (who I loved the crap out of). Now, looking at Wild, I find I'm missing tons of stuff. There's just no other way to get the cards I want / need. Dusting inevitably leads to regret. New cards cost a lot of money. I look at some of the lists running around right now, the "hottest" decks, and I don't think I have a single complete deck yet. Worse, most of those decks are missing legendaries--1600 dust cards that are impossible to craft without dusting my new (or old) cards.

I've pre-registered for packs the last two expansions because I want to support the game, but even after 60 packs today I don't feel like I've got my money's worth because I didn't get the cards I wanted to play what I want.

I only dust golden stuff for dust, really. I feel like everything has the potential to come back in and out the meta as new sets release. The game is expensive as is, so I don't want to screw myself over.

Admittedly my worst dusting is a golden Cairne 3 years ago. I was very naive and dumb then.

If you go to My Collection there is a Filter button, you can then select to filter by each set of cards (they will be represented by an icon rather than named, a tentacle is for the Whispers of the Old Gods expansion for example). Whatever shows up there is what you have. If you then click on Crafting it will show all cards that you can craft, i.e. what ones you are missing (they will be kinda greyed out). You can then spend your dust on crafting some if you want to.

Standard I would say is probably a better place for a newer player with a limited collection. In Wild you can use ALL the cards from the games history, including sets that are no longer in rotation, whereas Standard only uses the Classic set and the last few expansions so by going with Standard you will meet less variance in what you face and you yourself will have to collect less cards to be competitive. My advice would be to look into moving towards a cheap, decent deck but its hard to say what that is right now as the latest expansion has changed the meta and the dust will take a while to settle.

Welcome to the club.

I'd say standard is better for new player. In wild you play every cards from every expansion. In standard you play expansions from the last 2 years. Current one will rotated in April 2018.

Easiest way to learn is by watching streamers, and you could ask here.

To craft a card you need dust. You can get dust from arena, pack, disenchanted cards and monthly rewards.

I'm the full anxiety mode of a new expansion week where there's a bunch of stuff I _really_ want but not nearly enough dust to craft it all. I have enough for like one legendary.

this is why you should slow your role and play arena, a monkey can snag 5 wins in these first weeks. it just sucks waiting on constructed but if you are starved and cheap, best tactic

Fun fact about explosive rune. It stacks with Snipe.

Was playing Hunter dungon Rin and choose the start a game with 3 random secrets. Opponent played a 2 health minion so it did 8 damage instead of 4

those two cards are a great example of a well designed card with a downside (snipe) and a card that just ignores all principles of good game design (rune). i went to game art school for a year (lol) and had classes under some former ID employees and such, i would get an F- if i tried to design a card like explosive rune (we often had assignments where we had to create board/card games and such to learn principles of good design, and that card ignores them)

explosive runes is fine. it doesn't scale well into the late game and often does less damage than potion of polymorph.

I want to craft a lot of cards, still have around 6k dust

Alanna 1600
Dragon's fury 800
Voidlord 800
Maybe the warlock weapon 1600
To my side 400

Anyway secret mage is dead against hunter. Mirror entity and rune don't work against them lol.

How is explosive rune bad design?

It seems good, to me, because it forces the opponent to test for secrets differently. Previously you tested against mage secrets by playing low power minions, now you have to do a combination.

been playing around with a terrible big hunter deck, since I happen to have a bunch of big beasts and the new legendary

hit rank 10, but I don't know that this secret package I'm running for the low mana portion of the deck is actually good

maybe I'll try doing pirates or elementals up front into big beasts at the back

also in rogue kingsbane is pretty good, because it doesn't just keep spell buffs but minion buffs too
