I'm not going to watch this guy's stuff but I see that in at least one video, back in late June, he was raging against Anita Sarkeesian. I've found that to be a reliable indicator of a hothead. As to the precise complaint, I don't know, but his topic is "Anita Sarkeesian Bullies 2 Of My Favourite People Boogie2988 and Sargon of Akkad."

Enough said, I think.

Thoughtsieze is a very popular magic card

"THOT" is "That Ho Over There." In the context of his full nickname there it's literally a sexual assault joke.

Boogie's take on this is going to be interesting.

It has been extremely irritating having to go through all the steps on why boogie is a piece of shit with a whole new community that's (mostly) out of touch with what happened in GG.

On topic, is it expected that there will be a backlash because of this banning?

Already happening. Multiple women In the community been getting brigaded all day. :/

"Banned for memes".

It's called harassment, you pathetic loser. If she (and whoever else he harassed) started a Go Fund Me or something to fund a civil lawsuit against him I'd donate.

Oh this is cathartic.
It is, i try not to enjoy moments like these in this way but i can't help but feel a degree of relief. Fuck those who would harass others to the degree this asshole did. His ban is absolutely deserved, and good on Wizards for taking a stand.

I sent a tweet to Wotc twitter in support of their ban due to his harassment, might be a good idea for others to do the same. Need to set a good precedent for this nonsense.

"it's just a meme guys!"

Yeah uh, no. Just grow the fuck up instead.

Seriously, how can you be a grown ass person and think that the meme argument carries any weight?

A meme doesn't mean what you want it to mean, you jackass.

Harassment is harassment, no matter the form of language used. I'm glad that action has been taken but of course it'll just result in the guy doubling down on his idiocy.

Is "its just a meme" the new "its just a prank"?

I doubt he's crying too much. He can play the victim and rake in that sweet Patreon money.

I do find it strange that people that tell an opponent to "die in a fire" at tournaments don't get banned but someone that doesn't even play in tournaments does (apart from the odd pre-release).

Edit: epic spelling mistakes

I'm not saying this ban is wrong by the way I just don't understand how people who are abusive while playing the actual game get away with it. That and cheaters of the game only get suspended...

I'm completely outside of this world, but it's funny how these guys all follow the same script, no matter what thing they're known for, as soon as they face consequences. Also, it's pretty funny to see him go back and forth between claiming to not care about being banned to whining about the injustice of it all. And the fact that this tweet is still up after he got banned for life is pretty funny: https://twitter.com/UnsleevedMedia/status/938643868953616384?s=17

Any abuse or abusive language is grounds for disqualification at any Magic event. If someone is disqualified often enough, their case will be escalated and they will likely receive a ban. You have to make sure to report to the Judge and/or T.O. of the event when stuff like that happens.

Telling someone to 'DIAF' at an event is certainly unacceptable, but there is a good chance that the opponent is too busy feeling good about beating some crusty asshole to care to report it. From there, if it is reported, it comes down to whether the judge or TO actually give enough of a shit to report it further up. Even then, it would likely take a few strikes to end up getting a ban. If enough things about a player show up in the system, that person will get removed for a period of time. I was going to link to the list of banned players because it used to be a lot of fun to look at, but they've since removed the column that detailed why the person was banned. The basic gist is, fight someone for a lifetime ban, cheat for a 1-2 year ban, steal for about the same, take pictures of dude butts for 18 months. Repeat offenses get extended bans.

I like how he just casually describes what he was doing as "a little salty language" as if he wasn't actually doing anything. His statement was a big pile of nothing, not actually talking about the activities he was banned for, and just repeatedly commenting how stupid and unfair it is. Oh my gosh, they would dare to set a precedent for not allowing campaigns of harassment against another player? I'm sure there was a legion of people behind this guy who was arguing his victim wasn't reacting in their desired way.

Good on Wizards of the Coast for banning this guy.

He used to be a member of the old place. If I recall correctly his banning followed a period when he threatened to kill himself. The problem arose because other members were reacting negatively to his tone-deaf response to harassment of women in gaming and gaming journalism, a scandal usually called Gamergate.

This is a little misleading. He was in the Gamergate threads defending Gamergate, saying they were just people who were being bullied by mean feminist articles attacking gamer culture. When people tried to engage him on the subject - remember that Gamergate is a rebranding of the Quinnspiracy, which is more explicitly a hate campaign against a woman, is a reaction to an angry ex-boyfriend's complaints, and predated the relevant articles - that's when he started threatening to kill himself. He claimed that the situation was just too upsetting for him.

Taken at face value, he was emotionally incapable of handling the topic in an adult manner. But considering how happy he was to maintain contact with other Gamergate people after that, and how women getting threats and doxxing doesn't elicit the same reaction from him as people writing articles about diversity, it seems like he's perfectly fine with Gamergate discussion when everyone's on a particular side of it, despite his fencesitting stuff. So I have to wonder if he wasn't just trying to manipulate people's sympathy towards him in order to shut down an argument he wasn't winning.

Regardless, Boogie wants to take a stance - usually a pretty horrible one - but he doesn't have the courage to be disliked for his stance, so he pretends to be a fencesitter to pass himself off as harmless, neutral, and sympathetic while aiming his arguments at only the side he dislikes.

But really, he seems a bit unhinged.

Ohh god no.
I cant believe i just saw that and the guy is being serious.

I dont follow this part of gaming culture.
But from the skimming ive done, and information available around this guy deserved to get banned.

Good for him.
Im surprised his youtube channel comments section has a million comments in his defense.
Do people not know what he did or does he have blind followers who think harassment is okay.

Anyway, glad to see Wizards take a hardline stance on this. I've heard good things about how they approach diversity, hope they continue to put their money where their mouth is.

Alt-righters are idiots and liars, so his denial isn't surprising.

But really, he seems a bit unhinged.

Can someone summarize what's going on here? Don't want to watch this guy. Is it just that he says he's banned for memes?

Seems like a pretty standard defense. "Just trolling", "I was being ironic", "obviously I'm not actually a", so on and so forth. If it becomes clear that what you're doing is incredibly shitting and you can't defend the action itself, the next step is to claim that your intent is good, because even when it's super obvious that you meant to do what you did you no one can directly observe what's in your brain.

It's a bad argument because who cares about your intentions when you're clearly being a shitbag, but standard.

This video is all over the place. He barely gets into the why he was banned, just that it was an outrageous personal attack. More interested in the hundreds of dollars of virtual cards "his property" that he lost when his MGO account was banned. He's going to burn it all down if they don't rescind the ban in the next day or so with his insider information.

Oh, so he's throwing a tantrum without even the level of reflection needed to make a token statement? Reminds me of when my nephew was pulling mommy's hair and started crying when she didn't let him. My nephew was around two years old though.

Thanks for the summary, Man God.
