The PS4 SKU is #640 in Video Games on Amazon.com

At this point I'm not even going to be surprised if the game does not reach 1 million even after the PS4 launch.

i bought it. was excited to play it. i liked the tutorial, but once i got to the open world of the game i got bored. part of the problem is the game is a bit too dark for my taste, even on the highest gamma setting. so when i would go into stores i couldn't really see what was there. i haven't played a dead rising since the first and i remember graphically everything really popped and objects stood out more and were easy to see. but maybe i just got bored of bashing zombies. it felt like busy work more than fun or strategy. but i think if you love this series you will be happy with the game, because there is a ton of content.

I am.

Huge Dead Rising fan, so far really enjoying 4 as I never got chance to play it when I was on the X Box One. The lack of timer is a little jarring to the pacing IMO but overall the game isn't without it's charm, it's just not quite as charming as the ones that came before it.

So the game was never fixed in any way? Was the timer added in some mode or anything?

I remember this being one of the biggest disappointments ever. I was so pumped for a new DEad Rising last December, but was a bit skeptical when I did not see a lot of info

I got it day one and I think I put it in, played for like 15-20 and was horrified at how different/bad it felt and I just returned it/sold it. It sucks that one of my favorite series was ruined like that. The feel of the game totally changed.

It was a bigger bummer because although I enjoyed 3 it felt like a launch game that was missing stuff, but tried to make up for it with the cool DLC. 4 was a lazy cash grab.

Edit: man add this series to the list of games I would insta buy if it came to Switch lol.

I bought the triple pack of those old games remasters when it was really cheap, an impulse buy, and still haven't even touched them. I'll probably wait a few years to see if this one will make its way to PS+, it doesn't strike me as a game I would willingly spend money on.

I wanna get it just for the hell of it, but I've got other priorities first. Maybe after Christmas.

I never liked the timer so that's why I'm interested in this, but I guess there's no bosses or weird characters?

I'll have some of that list!

Didn't they give away DR1 with DR4 purchase? Talk about killing your game by association

Is there are reason to play it on the PS4? I heard it was terribly received by critics and users alike.

I tried it with "Off the Record" a few years ago and thought the game sucked because it was a rushed game for people who wanted Frank West back. Played the remaster of the first game on the PlayStation 4 a while back and I still think Dead Rising is crap. Ok it's better than "Off the Record" but not a game I would bother to play any longer. Without the timelimit, part 4 don't sound like a bad deal. But I haven't heard anything good of neither the original X1/PC version or the new PlayStation 4 version. Maybe for a few bucks when the game is very cheap.

What was so bad about this one compared to the previous games? Karak seemed to like it overall.

The director of DR4 was new to the franchise, and if you watch interviews with him before the initial launch, he talked at length about how much he focus tested everything in the game. Frank's new (worse) personality/appearance/voice, the removal of the timer, the replacement of the hard psychopaths who had unique stories/cutscenes with optional and boring maniacs, the nerfing of every system sans weapon crafting... all of it was a result of them focus testing the game into oblivion and ignoring everything that made the franchise unique. Yes, some of those things turned people off from the franchise, but stripping them out wholesale without adding in anything resembling a unique idea made DR4 a generic, by-the-numbers zombie open world game.

TL;DR: DR4, from top to bottom, was designed by committee, which made it is as lifeless as the zombies in it. Fun can and will still be had, if you enjoy using over-the-top weaponry to kill hundreds of zombies a second.

Personally, the Christmas aura of the game makes it a must play during the holiday season. I love the menu music (Xmas jazz) and the theme has made it one of my yearly holiday games. Played it last year on the X one, playing it again on the X1X currently.

Part of me is actually a bit interested in knowing that too. For whatever reason, I hung onto my copy in spite of getting irritated with the game's shortcomings and performance issues. Don't know if that either got carried over to DR4 on PS4 or if the game did get some technical performance improvements.

Either way, it wasn't that DR4 was bad, but it was way too underwhelming...

Just started playing this on Xbox One X. Started the game on Capcom mode and I think that was a great decision! It would have been too similar to DR3 if I just stuck to regular mode. I'm having fun but it does feel extremely pointless in a way. I can't tell what their goal with this one was...

Forgot it was out. My first DR was 3 and I had a ball. Should I go back and play 2 or OTR? I didn't even know 4 was awful until I read this thread

I'm playing this now.... and I gotta say, there's something extremely generic about DR4 -

I found a save point near a truck with some soldiers - it has a suit in it, you kill them, get the suit, mow down some zombies and then run around, there's another suit nearby and flamethrower and I repeated this a few times and I went from level 12 - 40ish.

Broke AF.

I don't like so many things about it. Sort of boring and there's no cutscenes for the maniacs. WTF. That's the best part of Dead Rising.

These's devs don't fucking understand the franchise handed to them by capcom.
