i think the fact that 30 pages on we havent been able to come to an agreement, even though i assume we're all reasonable people, shows how ineffective and toxic discussing politics on the internet can be.
"Politics" or what most people would call "being a decent person."
And from what I read, most of this community did come to an agreement, you were just part of the "vocal minority."
I sent you a PM with a general synopsis of what occured.
While there were occasionally good conversations ongoing during those 30 pages, there was also a lot of toxicity on both sides with people acting in an openly hostile manner..
"Both sides." Nah. Only one side of the argument was mostly filled with drive by posters and bans.
Got a heads up message from a German Patreon I'm supporting. Patreon seems to be changing it's fee model this month so that patrons will need to cover the payment cost that creators covered in the past. It means that i.e. a German $10 pledge with German taxes would now cost $12.55 instead of $11,90 but the creators would get $9.50 instead of $8.80. It'll be interesting to see how the various creators react and if they change anything.
Yeah, Noclip made a detailed post about it, which included a very handy chart that detailed the changes:
So there's actually less fees on the creator's end and they take home a significant amount more but some of those fees are passed onto us. The flat % fee seems like a really dumb idea to me, because it's actively discouraging people from committing to high patreon tiers (eg, the $500 tier suddenly becomes a $515 tier and so on).
Also, apparently the $ amount shown on the Patreon is
after the fees are taken out, so it should get a bump when the changes go through.
