CS:S was better then 1.6.

The PS2 is the most overrated system.

PC gaming of 2001-2006 was more interesting then it is today.

  • MOBA's are no fun
  • I've completely missed all of mass effect, have no intention lf ever playing any of them and i don't have the feeling i've missed anything
  • PUBG is no fun.
Yeah, i know the 3d one is brutal, and i tried, but it's not clicking with me. Considering most of my old friends play the shit out of it

Knights of the Old Republic is mediocre to bad in nearly every aspect save perhaps writing. The only saving grace is the twist and the companions.

Its worst problem seems to be inherent in the engine they used as a base, starting from Neverwinter Nights 2. The combat is weightless and almost completely lacking in any meaningful feedback. Just running around doesn't even feel good. Plenty of games have "overcome" having awful combat before, but in KotoR it throws tons at you and using lightsabers feels as though you're beating at dummies with sticks. Then you add into the fact that the level design is awful and all you're left with is your companions and the main story along with a bunch of fetch quests.

The 3DO and Atari Jaguar are both worthwhile systems with plenty of interesting games.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the best Zelda game.

Digital Pictures made some legitimately good games despite their reputation and FMV games need to make a comeback.

The quests in Dragon's Dogma are pretty good. The way they don't tell you exactly where to go and making you search out info from pawns and other npcs was nice. Gave them an organic quality which made me seek out every one I could. Maybe not controversial but I rarely hear people praising this aspect of the game.

Not talking about the "kill x monster" ones.

I'd agree on the PS2 comment. I wasn't a massive fan of the JRPG output. There are some good ones, but a lot of mediocre mixed in.

A lot of the big games like GTA or MGS were better on the Xbox in the end due to it being more powerful.

Plus I preferred Nintendo's first party output from that gen.

I believe Goldeneye can't really be considered one of the best games ever due to the fact it has has dated beyond horribly - if someone picked it up today with no frame of reference for the game or even the N64 it'd be near impossible to play and enjoy as is. I think any argument for 'one of the most important games ever', or 'best N64 game', or 'most influential game ever', or 'best of its time' would be fair enough, but I think most of the other main-stay games in the 'best ever' conversation have a strong element of timelessness to them, and so Goldeneye doesn't even deserve to be in the conversation for me

99% of western AAA story telling is trash, they often felt forced, mawkish and lack any real substance.
It's like most western developers just want to see you cry, but they don't actually have a meaningful story to tell. The ''gun shot fade to black'' ending of The Order 1886 is the best example, they are trying way too hard to make a sad story without knowing why, they only do it for the sake of it.

I have yet to see any western game rivals the storytelling of Silent Hill 2, they just don't get it.

There's a reason why people say video games have shit story, the fact that TLoU's story receives such overwhelming praise says a lot.

I don't like The last of us or Horizon Zero Dawn. I found them a chore to play.

No Man's Sky was mostly the type game promised us. It was missing a few features but it still was what I expected from what Sean Murrey described. And that most people were just upset about no multiplayer which he did try to emphasize it was not a multiplayer game (they just nitpicked other stuff to try to look like that wasn't it).

Gone Home is a terrible game and waste of time
Bioshock Infinite is by far the best game in the series
Mostly of indie games are overrated
Even with all its flaws, the Phantom Pain is a masterpiece
Skyrim is a mediocre game and overrated just like all WRPG made by Bethesda

I thought ALBW was better than ALTTP.
Same.
Skyward Sword is Motion Controls done Right
Also i think Super Mario 3D land > Super Mario 64 (both games are still awesome though)
Raiden from MGS 2 is a preety cool character and didnt annoy me
I must be one of the few people on Earth who has no interest in ever playing a GTA game
i love all the smash games but i find Brawl more fun than Melee
Mario kart 64 is the worse Mario Kart
And some people rag on Wii Sports/Resort but i think they are good games and deserve a switch Sequel.

I have a few.
Uncharted is overrated. The gameplay isn't that great and the story is only good relative to other Triple - A games which typically have poor stories.
Bloodborne is my least favorite souls game.
Lawbreakers is worth playing.

JRPGs are terribly boring.

Consoles are just walled garden PCs at this point (this might not be controversial anymore).

I think games media focuses too much on story & characters rather than gameplay and mechanics.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is much better than SFV overall. Much better to play and spectate that is, almost everything else is garbage. SFV bores me to tears, hopefully the AE will make me come around.

I think its entirely possible that mgs v had become a
Money sink, with kojima making little headway, thus making the project become riskier and riskier, making kojima a liability.

Oblivion>>>Skyrim both in quests and setting. Skyrim's quest are a lot of the time just go to cave kill stuff, and by the 20 hour mark I was sick of the snow and the murky color palete just made the game look very drab, while OBlivion's quests are more varied and while I can get people thinking that there is a lot of green in this case it just seems a lot more inviting to me.

Also Final Fantasy XIII is not the worst thing ever as some people would make you think and XIII-2 is a legitimately good game.

Zelda botw is a 6/10 at best and is riding on the name and reputation of previous games, as well as being the only thing to play for a while on peoples new switches. The durability mechanic alone brings it down 2 points.

I still bought it to justify the switch purchase.

Two so far that i can think of :

- AC 3 was one of my favorite AC. The settings, the story, Connor, Jungle etc. I loved it and did not understand why everyone did not.
- I kind of not liked Zelda BOTW. Don't get me wrong, it is a great game but i feel it lacks life, the world is a bit dead to me. A lot of things are incredible but apart from a town here and there, there is not much real life in this world. It feels empty for the most part. Also lack of BIG dungeons.

I believe most games that get loads of hate are undeserved of that hate. The people who vocally dislike them never actually sat through the game thinking "this sucks", and only came to that conclusion after being sat in certain echo chambers that perpetuate and exaggerate people's distaste.

If they actually played it at all.

Max Payne 3 is one of the best shooters ever created and set a new bar for gunplay in third person games for me, Wolfenstein: The New Order did the same thing for FPS games to me but I don't think that's really a controversial opinion.

Naughty Dog are the most overrated developers. The Uncharted series and TLOU were average at best gameplay wise.

I didn't like MGS 2 or 3 but loved Twin Snakes, Peace Walker and The Phantom Pain.

I enjoyed the Last of Us (although more for the story than the game play), but I couldn't agree more with HZD. I can't think of another time where a game has been SO beloved by everybody I talk to, and I just thought it was desperately average at best

There is only one really bad Call of Duty game, the rest are high quality shooters that don't deserve the hate that they get. A real bang for your buck too all things considered, extensive zombies mode, well made multiplayer (usually), and a cinematic summer blockbuster-like campaign that delivers great set pieces, characters, and narratives. It's one of the most consistent franchises out there in terms of quality.

I really wish that I could disagree with you there, as a Phantasy Star fan. The overemphasis on freemium cosmetics and the absurdity of later episodes have really let the series go off into the deep end. I'm still holding out for a sequel that goes in a different direction in... 2020, at this point?
I really tried to like it and fooled myself for the longest time, but yeah, it's a real mess. My biggest gripe is that the structure of randomly generated fields which feel messy. Also enemy AI isn't all that agressive but maybe that's changed as well. Overall its very uninspired imo.

Do you remember 2012? The game was hyped to all hell. People (myself included) felt like AC3 was the true sequel to AC2. This was the next step forward in the series.

And we found out the gameplay had remained largely the same, the protagonist was not as charismatic as Ezio (I prefer Connor to Ezio myself), the game was marred with glitches, and the resolution to the modern day storyline everyone was looking forward to fell flat.

I think there are parts of AC3 that are underrated, and I do prefer it to 2, but it was a huge disappointment to a lot of people.

Though it clearly suffers from AI and control issues, Lost Planet 2 is still one of the best sci-fi action games. Love its diversity in terms of content -- locations, enemies, boss' mechanisms, weapons, character customization options, everything. Additionally, it's art style is so unique.
