So it looks like Shaman is just locked into playing Evolve and Jades for the next 4 months. Pretty disappointing.

Maybe Murmuring Elemental + Doppelgangster/Deathseer is enough to give the deck a little more potency but otherwise it seems like a pretty unexciting set for the class.

Rin is the worst legendary followed by shaman weapon, I hope I dodge those, I'm happy with everything else.

the neutral ones actually have some legit applications, they're not junk.

This card could be a problem. Can already see otk potential.

Edit: didn't read the card right. Lol

dragonslayer is basically crab equivalent for dragons. At least we got something to deal with dragon priest if it got too good.

It's unfair if it killed any dragon, it kills most of them, good enough.

Dragonslayer will see use to tech against any deck running scale bane.

Spell stones seem like the cards to craft. All the effects are really good even in base form

I think candleshot is the sleeper meta defining card, cheap hunter weapon is a biiig deal. you will see...

I think hunter got good stuff, way better than previous set. reddit is dumb. Shaman got the worst cards...

....Is this sarcasm? It's entirely possible that shaman got a whole new deck.

I havent played rogue much lately, do dormant minions take up a space? So if the darkness is dormant i could only res 6 demons with guldan right?

Yeah, some of those final day filler cards seem pretty impactful this time.

I'm still disappointed overall at the 'hook' of the set. Legendary Weapons just aren't something I'm excited for, and a lot of them really just...don't work if people just run oozes. And they will. They even added a 5 mana 5/5 ooze for more redundancy, and didn't have anything to properly address it beyond that crappy 3 drop that readds a weapon to your hand. There's a few that still might be good even getting removed straight away, like the Mage card...but I dunno. The higher cost ones like the Warrior and Shaman seem like straight clunky garbage, and the Warlock one does literally nothing which seems too risky at 5 mana.

Mage one seems most likely to see play to me. More positive on the Rogue weapon upon seeing the weapon tutor also. Druid one might be gross with Medivh, not sure what else is really good with it. Maly OTK stuff seems a little too out there and still gets beaten by ooze before the weapon breaks.

To be fair, you probably don't run the 5 mana 5/5, it's worse than acidic swamp ooze. I think they just wanted an ooze since it fits the dungeon raiding theme.

Fun theory on the Final Bosses on the Dungeon Run, they said there were 5 possible ones in total. If one of them is King Togwaggle, then maybe the other 4 are also the neutral legendaries of the set. In other words...
  • Marin the Fox
  • Zola the Gorgon
  • Master Oakheart
  • And The Darkness.
I can see different thematic fights around all of them for certain.

Quest mage is such a dumb deck.

It still loses sometimes of course if you're aggro and they don't draw delays early enough, but the games it wins are just annoying to be on the receiving end. It's like old Freeze Mage, sort of in that you're playing solitaire.

Ultra Amateur Card Rating Stream: 8 pm PST, 11 pm EST Wednesday, December 6

I am planning to do a stream like last time to rate every card, hopefully 1 minute or less per card on average. If I can get the viewer poll working I'll do that as well, so each card will end up with my rating and an average viewer rating for comparison.

I do this purely for fun and education with no ads or anything, since I'm obviously an extremely low skill player (rank 10 if I'm lucky). If anyone's bored and wants to join in, 3-5 viewers would be nice so I can at least get an average to put alongside my personal rating.

Time for the top 5 legendary list, this set for me is difficult but in no order:

Oakheart
Ixlid
Val'anyr
Sonya
Kingsbane

pretty good arena deck. I tried my hardest to draft zoo, got a little bit more removal than I was looking for.

Instead of picking just top 5 cards, I'm gonna make 2 short lists, not listed in any particular order

A. top 5 notable cards (not best, cause that is easy boring)
  1. kingsbane, I think this is the underrated card of the set. I'm not saying it'll definitely be top tier, but I think it has a chance to be.
  2. minstrel, this card is going to vastly increase the consistency of miracle rogue, and might find it's way into another deck. I want to say this is the azure drake replacement, trading off stats and spellpower for drawing an additional card.
  3. Call to arms, I think this card makes it's way into a lot of paladin lists, including control paladin. I think you cut wild pyro. You play doomsayer, dirty rat, and one other 2 drop, like that 2/3 that deathrattle heal for 3. This card will thin your deck by 3 cards and potentially clear the board... for 4 mana and a single card. Paladin hasn't had this powerful of a single early game card before for control paladin.
  4. hooked reaver, handlock is back? maybe
  5. oakheart, this card is probably quite broken somewhere. In control warlock you can summon 3 taunts, including the 3/9 taunt that summons more taunts. And they're all demons the turn before guldan. This is a card to watch until it rotates, even if it sees zero play this year.
B. New Decks to keep an eye on (decks that aren't tier 2 or 1, that could be in the future)
  1. miracle rogue, because of minstrel and strider. I've got at least 2 lists brewed for this archetype. I've seen good rogue players brewing this archetype as well. I'm personally going for kingsbane miracle rogue.
  2. jade rogue, I think carnvirous cube and kobold illusionist (4 cost rogue card) create a powerful curve. A lot of potential here I think, but could easily end up being weak.
  3. Control paladin, because of call to arms, the spellstone, decent 3 drop that heals face to enable spellstone, a 2 drop that combos with aldor or humility to act as hard removal
  4. control warlock, handlock etc.. between the spellstone giving pretty good sustain and synergizing with new cards you already want to play, plus the oakheart and hooked reaver, and all the synergy with the lategame of guldan and the high power of defile... I think this deck has a very high shot. You can probably even run n'zoth as it has a 9 health taunt with deathrattle. But it's a demon too so you can run guldan. Or you can run both. That is a bit nuts.
  5. face hunter could easily be a very divisive deck again. It probably saves us from raza priest but it also probably is not fun to play against. 2 new one drops, one being a weapon that enables them to use south sea deckhand. I can already see people wanting to run highmane and call their deck hybrid. I've seen lists doing that already. But I think hedging here... might not work out to the best hunter deck. I think you cut highmanes and run hydra as your top end. I kinda even think that 4 cost stealth raid leader. If you manage to have 1 or 2 minions on board when you play it, you ge 2 immediate damage. Then the 4 drop itself also hits for 2. And you play southsea, which gets patches, plus another charge minion, and suddenly you've got 7~ damage from a 4 drop that must still be removed. On turn 5, if you're hitting for more than 5, you're in great shape btw.
Also dragon priest, but that seems pretty obvious.

Are people talking about this card? This card seems better than it looks.

Well guessing from the GAF score sheet, everyone except me rated it a 1 or 2. I gave it a 3 LOL!

Rest of the cards seem to be in line with what the majority are predicting though this is a bit harder of as set to predict.

Just looked at the final spoiler.

Damn Candleshot seems legit!
Cave Hydra is undercosted, but too bad it's a board control card.
Kingsbane can be a win condition in the right deck, love the design.
Cavern Shinyfinder is nuts. How the fuck is this 2-mana?
Hooked Reaver holy shit! Another great demon with Vulgar Homunculus.
Kobold Librarian, one the best cards for warlock ever.
Dark Pact, definitely playable.
Carnivorous Cube is insane if you hit a deathrattle with it. Might be too slow for constructed still.

So many good commons for arena... like I can't even remember any other set having this many legit filler commons.

Oakheart seem pretty crazy tutor but I kinda skeptical its work outside druid.. you can draw most of stuff by time you play the card

But still the potential is insane

If that card was a 4/2, 4/2... people would be complaining about it. Would essentially be Shredder 2.0.

Patches definitely and hero power definitely tone it down but this card could really annoying a Priest for example.

Shredder was 4/3. And a 1-health drop from shredder was always a low-roll, no matter the attack value.

I don't think Oakheart is particularly great. It's actually pretty unlikely you'll get full value and even getting 2 of the 3 recruits is a toss up by the time you cast him.

The best legendary is probably Sonya or Grumble. I'd bet on Grumble being the most impactful.

Kingsbane could be absurd in wild, but im more skeptical of its standard applications.

Elven Minstrel is the best card in the set?
