No problem :)

Anybody else feeling the impending doom that might happen? I imagine Griffith would try to conquer Elf Island sometime soon.
oh apparently, i have seen it. i just forgot :<

..... no, i think it'll take a while yet before doom happens. but i'm really enjoying this casca rescue stuff at the moment. the art is just gorgeous and very dreamy * __ *

Me too, Guts deserves this break.
well yeah, impending doom is kinda the default state of this series
True. The world of Berserk is the most batshit insane worlds ever seen.

In Berserk you either die, live miserably, live miserably and live long enough to meet Guts and then die or join his party...or Rickerts...or Griffiths.

I forgive you fellow struggler

*phew*

i kinda miss all those war strategy stuff now though, back when the band of the hawk was still legit trying to move up the social ladder. it was really nice. now it's all monsters and demons and stuff :<

which boss monsters are your favourites, btw? i like rosine and mozgus was also memorable :> snake duder at the beginning was also a good opener :D

Rosine is way better than Mozgus. Grunbeld is probably my favorite though. I mean look at this fucking thing.

i dont think he has drawn really disturbing arc since lost children. there were some stuff in mozgus' dungeon that was kinda grotesque but nothing like the old arcs.

images wise, yeah, there's been some gruesome arts but context and depth wise, i think the tone is lighter and more fantasy and magicky these days.

It's pretty much a JRPG at this point.
The whole Qliphoth section was pretty grotesque, and I suppose some of the parasites living in the sea god weren't too pleasant to look at.
It seems to still be there in bits and pieces, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I like a good balance to the whole thing.

Did some of you all forget about the trolls in terms of disturbing shit? Or how Ganishka made more demon troops?

also that whole cthulu island during the boat ride, specifically the islands residents melting into fish people,
also the Kushan occupation turning the Midland capitol into a 'dread city' or something like that, lines of corpses hanging from every roof, and then that bizzare thing the emporer turned into.
also those fucking trolls.

and since we are talking apostles,
while i think the character is pretty meh, i love how locus looks in his demon form

the kinda surrealist vibe is rad as hell, and a very welcome contrast to the mangled flesh of most other apostles.

he wanted to 1v1 guts that one time at ivaleras place, killed an apostle that tried to butt in.
that fact that guts was pretty clearly in no shape to fight didn't seem to bother him tho.

strikes me like Zodds whole thing pre-dehorning, but with more pomp and less actual thought put into it.

oh yeah, Zodd exists, still easily my fav of all of Griffiths new crew.

those penis monsters were just .... idk, they are trying hard to be gross, and i totally appreciate the effort, i guess, but i mean, like, they lack narratives and build up and depth into their monstrosity

ganishka is a jobbbbbber

That was great. I enjoyed the whole boat arc quite a bit. Probably helped that I took a huge break from reading it while that was going on and caught up all at once.

I think the Slug Count has a great design too. Also I am a fan of the pumpkin scarecrow monsters.

But it's hard to beat Guts vs Zodd at the hill of swords...my favorite moment in the manga.

Most Berserk villains outside of Griffith and Rosine are pretty lame.

Yeah I could see that. I got kinda burnt out on the Golden Age from seeing the old anime over and over (my own fault), but it is really very good.

Mozgus has never really came off as menacing. Most of the grotesque Mozgus stuff just revolves around the torture imagery. He's nothing more than a basic fanatic that slams his face into the floor a thousand times a day.

Agree 100%. Even his apostle form is more weird and lumbering than anything resembling more traditional angelic imagery.

i dont think he was meant to be menacing, hell he is the one of the only 2 characters that gives there attacks dumb anime names (the other being a literal joke character).
hes not meant to be menacing, just disgusting.

I honestly don't even think he's stronger than Rosine. He's definitely not characterized as well. He's driven by nothing more than a torture fetish that is masked by his faith.

Whatever Mozgus is he's just a forgettable weeb. The Conviction arc is good, but it's not good because of him. He's honestly a weaker villain narratively than Diavolo from Jojo Part 5.

i dunno, a fanatic that tortures the people that come to him for salvation and still genuinely believes he is helping them is pretty good to me.
and i dont get the weeb part at all?

i kinda liked mozgus, he was deranged but passionate and through that deranged devotion, he plays a part in that arc well

like how his burning body actually kept some of his followers safe even after he was struck down was such a nice detail to me
