Honestly? A lot of them have been there since GT, they just weren't as vocal. Yesterday I had a look at the EZA subreddit and alongside all the absurd Resetera hate (apparently being progressive is "dangerous"!), you've got people there saying they loved GT/EZA because they never did things like condemn GamerGate. Being apolitical these days, particularly in gaming, is an open invite to all kinds of toxic people, which has been extremely noticeable in the EZA community over the last 6 or so months. I mean fuck, when there are people unpledging because EZA condemned Nazi's (Nazi's!), you know there's some issues there.

Having said that, while Brandon's response last week in CoJ was infuriating in how he shrugged off and ignored all the issues people brought up, from what I recall, he did also say that they'd start discussing political issues more often, so I'm guessing they've finally recognised this.

Aye, I forgot about people being upset about the Nazi thing. Some of these things feel like an eternity ago.

I must have been completely out of the loop. I almost exclusively (though relatively rarely) read patreon comments where I've almost never seen anything hateful.

Never saw them as trying to stay apolitical at all. Ian and Kyle were very clearly progressives to me from the impressions I got through some of their GT content and their twitter feeds, and EZA as a whole was vocally pissed about trump's election win and the pewdiepie thing on the podcast. I guess they, especially Brandon haven't done a great job in this regard recently.

Haven't seen the last cup of jones yet, been too busy to watch their content recently, and am only now catching up. I even missed the whole controversy.

Someone tell him unique monsters can drop cores.
He can try grinding out a low level unique for cores

Since the Game Awards is off limits to protect the integrity of bets, I have a suggestion for next year.

If Nintendo continues to hold its World Championships, could you make a betting special for that? I was trying to find EZA coverage of it and had a bit of trouble.

Heh.

It's sad that he even had to check, but that's 2017 for ya.

And it has nothing to do with anything really, but I just checked Ian's website and it's fabulous, just want to throw this out there.

I found a part where it asked for a password but I can't find it again and I don't know the password...

I did wander into the (appropriately named) Land of Parentheses though.

There is a "Rare Blade Pack" in eShop, actually. But from the looks of it it's for new guest Blades coming next year, kinda like a season pass thing? I didn't get the gist of it. (There is also a "Useful Item Pack" and a "New Quests Pack")

All of them are only going to be sold in January though? I wasn't paying that much attention (I'm cleaning my room with the stream open as background noise).

I think those are just part of the season pass that also includes new story content next year. I'm pretty sure you couldn't just buy the blade pack even if you wanted to.

Those crystals stress me out. When should I use them, who should I use them on? I'm still on the first titan and I have a handful of commons and one rare. Should so save the rare for when I'm higher level, im assuming that your level affects your chances of getting higher power blades...

Makes sense. Damiani's got a streak of cynicism that's not for everyone if you prefer Ben style streams.

I usually enjoy Damiani streams, I really like Rogue Galaxy but he never streams it lol. But, it's not really Daminai's negativity that bums me out, I can handle that, although he should talk more about what he thinks and such as he goes, he doesn't seem to do that as much.

I just finished Chapter 4, and I'd say to go ahead and use them whenever you want. I like to use them as soon as I get them, so that I can find blades I want and start using them and earning points to level their arts. Your level doesn't affect the power of the blade when you summon it. When you get a new one you want to use, just buy them a core chip from the latest town you've been to in order to bring their stats up to par. The only time I'd say to hold onto your cores is if you feel perfectly comfortable with the setup you have, because eventually new characters will join the party with only their default blade, and you can summon blades for them too.

(EDIT: I'm sorry, I misread -- your CHANCES of getting a higher-power blade can be affected, not the base power of the blade itself. However this is affected not directly by your level, but by your LCK and your Idea stats. Even so, I personally think it's much more worthwhile to draw early, get your party outfitted, and have fun playing through the game, rather than gimping yourself early on just for an increased chance later. You'll be banking on chance no matter what.)

As for which characters to use your cores on, it's mostly just about filling your characters out with certain classes and element types. Nia doesn't want TNK blades, since she's a healer and you don't want her to draw aggro, but other HLR and ATK blades work just fine on her. I have Rex set up with Pyra, an ATK blade, and a HLR blade, but I found it useful to have a TNK blade on the side, particularly in one section where Tora momentarily leaves the party. It's generally nice to have a variety of elemental blades between your party members so that you can do more types of Driver Combos.

There's a lot of systems at play in this game, but you shouldn't feel like you're going to drown if you don't specifically do XYZ. If you're finding that what you're doing isn't working out, experiment with your blade setup. Don't be afraid to use the common blades for the sake of having more options.

This is very helpful, thank you. There's a ton of systems going on in this game and its starting to bog me down. Some of it seems super unnecessary and like I can ignore it but then part of me is like, I really should buy every every item from every store to see what bonus I get lol. Again, thanks for the tips.

I think with Ben's Xenoblade Chronicles streams, it helped that the game had been out for so long already. People had mostly processed their feelings about the game so the streams could be very low key and relaxed. I guess the gaming community at large hasn't done that yet for Xenoblade 2 xp.

I'm starting to feel a little distant from the Allies, and I'm questioning if I'll renew my Patreon pledge. I know they have a lot of stuff to deal with, and they can't please anyone, but it really feels like a large amount of their fanbase is being outright ignored lately. We need a SportsTalk podcast. This has gone on long enough.

Outside of Kyle and Don talking football, what else would they cover? Lol

This threw me through a loop, damn you.

You can have a sports podcast after I get my Brad/Huber wrestling podcast.

We need a live reaction stream to Wrestlekingdom 12. Brad, Huber, and Ben. I hope Okada comes out as a badass anime character again.

With the talk of MegaMan on the last Frame Trap, does the Allies have the power to will a game into existence?

:lol

A parody sports show ala PTI with Damiani and Bosman (or Huber? Or don!?) would be genuinely hilarious

Really wish they had kept the grandma birthday cards bets secret from the public. There is always someone willing to manipulate these as we saw in the past on the main podcast
