I'm having problems with the analog stick on my left joy con. It not calibrated properly and it's often recognizing a forward push when the stick is neutral. It makes the challenging platforming parts of Mario Odyssey a nightmare, and is generally super annoying.

I tried calibrating the stick through the settings, but it didn't work. And to be clear, this happened just recently and I've had the joy cons since launch.

Has this happened to any of you? Do I have to send it to Nintendo for repairs? I'd really hate to be without any controllers for Christmas. I'd have to buy new ones.

I have a similar issue. When I push up on the stick, sometimes it takes too long to go back to neutral. This results in moving forward longer than I want to sometimes, or going up more than once in a menu when I only pushed up once. This only started happening recently and I've had my Switch since late March. It's not too big of a deal in most games, so I'm just living with it for now.

Anyway, I'm getting a micro SD card tomorrow finally. Going to get physical games whenever possible so I think 128 should be enough space.

I was wondering about the Nes30 pro Controller, is it good? Is it safe to buy it from ebay?

also is rocket league worth getting if I already got it on steam? ( I kinda wanna get it just to play it on the go...)

any suggestions from e-shop will be greatly appreciated too! :)

I started playing Rime and really was taken aback by how lo-res it is in handheld mode. Like to the point that it's the first time I deliberated not playing it because of that. That's definitely a first for me.

I am disappointed Nintendo hasn't released the red joycons from the MARIO bundle separately in NA.

I have a NES 30 Pro and it's not something I'd recommend as someone's main controller. It's very small and I don't really care for the shoulder buttons. I think it would be fine as a controller for multiplayer.

I also have the SNES 30 and it's a shockingly good recreation of the original SNES controller. I've tried multiple USB knock-offs before and 8bitdo's feels like the real thing. I don't know how good the SNES 30 Pro is but that might be a better choice than the NES 30 Pro. If nothing else, the regular SNES 30 I highly recommend for D-Pad games.

Eshop recommendations:

Battle Chef Brigade
Stardew Valley
Golf Story
Ironcast
Rive
Steamworld Dig 2
Axiom Verge
Shovel Knight
NeuroVoider
Sonic Mania

Those are great games to start with.

NoA fucking sucks. They haven't released the Splatoon Green/Pink JoyCons or the Yellows, either.

I love how iconic everything about the Switch looks. Such a great design.

The irony is the actual Switch console itself has zero visual identity, it's literally just a generic-looking tablet.

Much like Mickey Mouse, the Switch is made iconic and interesting by the characters/accessories it surrounds itself with.

What are the next big retail releases now that Xenoblade 2 is out? Anything confirmed for the next few months?

Did Nintendo blow their load in 2017?

Well, to maximize sells of 2017 lineup, its a good thing nothing much is showned for 2018 atm. From Software as example is a no show. What would have happen to Bestesda as big third party support if they showed, as example, a new Souls gsme exclusive to the Switch? Could have maybe hurt sells of Skyrim and Doom, where they are the two big third party games out there. Pretty sure the sells are very good atm because of exclusivity showing.

Wait. Lots is incoming. For a first year, i just can say its been more amazing than all other system with their first year. Im not worried a second.

Port-begging time.

Even though I own all 3 games on Vita, I really want to see the VanillaWare beat'em up trilogy on Switch: Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Muramasa Rebirth (w/ all DLC) and Dragon's Crown.

The games would look gorgeous on the Switch and the action should be easier to follow and appreciate on the bigger screen (vs Vita).

Plus, Dragon's Crown seems a great fit for tabletop multiplayer.

The possibility is certainly there, especially since a Dragon's Crown re-release has been announced for PS4.

Hi. I'm searching for a power bank for my switch. I tried reading all the info on Reddit but is confusing as hell. Any advice for a model that is tested to charge the switch when playing? I need around 20000 mAh if possible.

Thanks.

Nice! Stardew Valley was one I was looking forward to playing, Axiom verge too!

Don't forget to check the other games on that list from HotHamBoy. It's all really solid suggestions as a start library. (If you like Nintendo-like polish and a generally brilliant game, you really should pick up Steamworld Dig 2. And both Golf Story and Battle Check Brigade are very unique games IMO.)

Hey, guys, quick question. Not sure how this goes.

Is it possible to gift a game in the eShop? Maybe buying the game on the site and give the code, or does it automatically start downloading it on my Switch? I wanted to gift a game for Christmas.

I finally bought the system yesterday when I happened to go shopping with my wife. We were searching for a usb cable in one store that sells all kinds of electronics and stuff (Power). I noticed their pamphlet at the front door and browsed through it and saw this crazy deal. 349€ for Nintendo Switch Mario Odyssey edition and on top of that 15€ store credit. So basically I got the Mario edition for 334€ which is crazy cheap around here in Finland. I was waiting for a good deal and now I got it. An awesome Christmas present for me and my wife. Though I have to wait for it to arrive as there were no systems left in the store, but they promised 2 more copies this Friday (it was a 200 system limit for the offer, so I was one of the last ones to get it for that price).

Now I just need to check for more information about the system, like what SD card to buy and stuff like that. I already have way too many games to choose from, but Mario should keep me busy for a while.

Not until both games are either on the card or downloadable via the card.

The idea of one of the games being a consumable code doesn't sit right with me.

This. It's pretty lousy. If you're doing a physical release, it needs to all be there, or it's no different than a code in a case.

The value in buying physical is being stripped down to the core. You can resell it, but even with Mario Odyssey, after opening the game, I felt like 'huh, is that it?'

Unfortunately, physical will be a relic within years.

I would murder for Dragons Crown on Switch, but is it not a Sony exclusive?

Also, do we know release dates for the following?

Enter the Gungeon
Darkest Dungeon
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Huntdown (not out yet on any platform, but looks amazing)

Eshop recommendation for this Thursday... VOSTOK INC.

(because I made it. Happy to take questions. It's a twin stick shooter meets idle clicker with some minigames thrown in for good measure)

I can't entirely fault publishers for wanting to go with cheaper cart options to maximize profits, but at least go the L.A. Noire route and make RER2 a download triggered from within the cartridge itself. That way the game at least has some sort of resale value. As it is now once the download code is redeemed the cover art on the case is a lie.

No to all of those. Not even a clue to a window.

Dragon's Crown is not contractually a Sony exclusive, it just hasn't released on other platforms.

What's the playtime? I've found premium clickers to be rather short experiences.

I didn't think I'd be typing these words - remarkably, essentially all the games from January direct have been released, with the exception of SMT. It seemed impossible, yet Nintendo delivered handsomely in the first year:

https://mic.com/articles/165097/nin...f-titles-confirmed-for-the-console#.puOIcku7E

Of the games revealed since, we are only missing four:

Kirby
Metroid Prime 4 (only announced, not revealed)
Yoshi's Woolly World
Pokemon (only announced, not revealed)

In other words, next half a year will be stacked with announcements.

It's silly...I've gone mostly all physical at this point (because there's some great discounts to be had), but have considered switching to digital. Problem is space + moving a bunch of physical Switch games. I don't know what I'll do yet.

...well, yeah, that's kinda how Nintendo has operated for the last half-decade or so.

The Nintendo Direct early in the year is more or less the first four to five months of releases, a Spring Direct and E3 tackles the middle of the year and a late-year Direct shows off late-year software and software for early the next year.

With few exceptions (Breath of the Wild, Fire Emblem x SMT, etc.) Nintendo generally announces their software within the same year.

Anyone have any tips/anecdotes on opening the Switch's kickstand for the first time to access the microSD card slot? I've never opened the kickstand before (just got a Switch a month ago with the Mario bundle), and it's not budging with what I'd consider to be reasonable force.

I already searched for tips and I get the sense that I just have to apply more pressure than I'm comfortable applying. Maybe I'm just more looking for commiseration than some comfortable solution that doesn't exist.

I'm not even putting in my "forever" expandable storage (that might be this), but I remembered I had two of these 64gb cards hiding around the home - I want to pass one along to my SO for her Switch if it's a sufficient card performance-wise.

I'd say for a first playthrough about 25-30 hours with new stuff unlocking every 10-15 minutes, until you can beat the final boss. BUT to 100% it it's probably closer to 50 hours. The economy only ticks while you've got the game running, and it's as much a twin stick shooter as a clicker. We also have NG+

Just do it. Also, even if you accidentally "break" it off the system, it pops right back in easily (it's just two round metal tabs that hold it in IIRC). It's the most flimsy thing, but difficult to permanently ruin. :)

I'd go digital if I didn't get rid of games after beating them. I'm a one and done kind of gamer, so I tend to get rid of single player only games after finishing them. I only have Splatoon 2, and some Indies downloaded.

Anyone been stuck trying to find a replacement kickstand? I accidentally put my switch back in the dock with the kickstand open when I was high and it flicked off and literally disappeared, I've moved all my furniture and it's just gone (not broken).

Tried to order a spare one and they don't exist here (UK) or didn't at the time anyway.

Eventually found a third party Nyko one on Amazon US and ordered it (this was back in September).

Since then the delivery date has been delayed 3-4 times and they finally tried to charge me today to dispatch it. Somehow they tried to use my old card which hasn't been my default on Amazon or in use in over a year.

Tried to log in to change it to my correct card just now and it just says there's been an error every time I try to change it. Card details are all correct and money is in there, this is entirely a fault with their website.

Emailed customer services and they're gonna take up to 12 hours to come back to me. If they are out of stock by then I will DIE.

Why doesn't Nintendo make these ? It would be easier to get hold of something in Fort Knox than one of these, and my switch isn't useable in tabletop mode until I do, which is 1/3rd of it's advertised usage. Being a bit dramatic here as I mostly use portable anyway but what the hell, it's a $5 piece of plastic and the hardest damn thing to get hold of.

Seems to me Nyko realised Nintendo weren't doing it and made their own, but must have made about 5 of them.

Anyone have an issue with one or both of their joycons not fully locking in place when attached to the switch? My right joycon doesn't lock. It will stay connected but if I even gently push the joycon up, it will start sliding out. The button doesn't need to be pressed.

It has to be the switch since I've tried multiple joy-cons. Nothing looks broken on it though.

I've found my right one seems dead loose. It clicks in fine but it's really easy to pop back out when the button isn't pressed.

And a lot of the titles were delayed (Pikmin 3, Tropical Freeze, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, Zelda). Other titles where announce a year or more before they were released (MK8, Splatoon, Wonderful 101). The Switch situation this year is totally different to how the Wii U was handled.

Also, can I just drag and drop files from one mSD to another and have things be OK?

That's pretty weird that they don't sell them in the UK. The US Nintendo store has them for $4.

I could buy one from them and ship it to you, but that would probably be pretty slow. If you don't find better options, PM me sometime and we can work something out.

Ahhhh...I finally impulse bought one. Now what?! ;)

(how big of an sd card should I get if most retail purchases I buy will be physical. I will still do eshop stuff though.)
