What can we expect for the DLC? I know we are getting another dungeon, but I wonder what the challenges will be. I'm just hoping it's something substantial.

It's scheduled to release sometime this month. A lot of people think it will be shown at The Game Awards next week and released shortly after, but that's just speculation.

I'm about 8 hours in so far and generally really like it. Some control things are annoying me at the moment but I'm betting it's personal.

Question though, I've been to like 10 or 12 shrines so far. Have done some sidequests so far and now my main quests are kill Gannon, and find the 4 beasts. Any area I should be heading to or avoiding next?

I played this game for the first time on a target demo kiosk. Even in my limited time, I found it quite the enthralling and engrossing game, if only for the freedom it provided. Granted, the highlight of my time was falling off a tower and dying :P

Really hoping I can get a switch for Christmas and this game!

I finally finished the game. 120 shrines. Coincidentally, today is the 9th month the game has been out which means it took me exactly 9 months to finish it. lol. This is probably tied with Final Fantasy IX as my fav game of all time. Fight with Ganon was so epic. For the last shot I jumped off the horse and fired in the air at the point.

Such a great game. Such a damn great game. Best game released this year by a very very large mile. Nothing comes close. Maybe Odyssey.

Time to play Master Mode.

Kudos Nintendo.

It really is incredible. So many times playing it I thought "what if I do this?" Then be shocked it worked. There were so many shrines that I would think of ways to bypass entire sections and it would work.

I bought the Explorer's Edition on Black Friday and it came in the mail yesterday. I'm liking it so far. I was feeling a bit frustrated because I wasn't sure how to not take damage in the snow area. Eventually I found the old man on top of a mountain and he gave me a shirt to stop taking damage from it. Just got to the 2nd tower.

Regarding the old man in the great plateau.

I didn't do the little errand he asks you to do in order to get the warm outfit, as I figured I could just do it later... not knowing he would soon disappear. I felt sad knowing that I had missed out on a little quest. But I went back to his hut later and was surprised to find a treasure chest with the outfit and a note from him. ;-;

Same, it's one of the many little bits of "sideways" storytelling I've loved with BOTW.

I'm actually now really anxious for Christmas now that my dad is telling me he's almost certainly getting me a Switch and this game barring a disaster :P

I just love how it's such a systems-driven game, which I've always thought that open world games should be, not the non-interactable dioramas they often are.

Normally when I play an open world game I stick to almost only the main story before doing all the side things. Right now I'm suppose to find Impa but I got super distracted. I got to the stables place and tamed a horse, and then just went in a random direction. Ended up finding another tower as well as a wandering vendor so now I have a little bit of money. Kind of annoyed I can't teleport back to the stables or the shrine next to it because I couldn't figure out how to get past the spikes.

If you've tamed a horse, you need to ride the horse to a stable to register it. Horses don't teleport.

There are numerous ways to deal with the spikes around that shrine. You can solve it with the basic things you have since the plateau.

But it's ok to get sidetracked in BotW. IMO, it's recommended. :-)

If you go into the settings you can change the jump button (this is the only button customisation you can do, though).

Can this be done when using the Pro Controller? If so, how? I went into the options screen and it doesn't allow me to highlight the controller configuration. All I can do is scroll through the options on the left side.

Just met the red lynel on ploymus mountain and he 1 shotted me from a large distance when I had a mid tier sneak food on. Am I here too early? Jesus. This is the first divine beast quest line I'm doing.

Edit: even with high electric block food it near 1 shots me and is so fast I can't do a thing anyway. What the shit. Is there another way to get arrows?

Edit 2: was able to do it super slow and making sure he was nowhere near me when I poached some arrows.

You're going the right way. The Ruto Divine Beast is the easiest (or second easiest, in some respects), it's just that you're meant to sneak past the Lynel. He's killable but will oneshot you.

Damn thankyou, now you mention it I actually knew it was one of the memories when the clip started but somehow I must have forgotten halfway through, how embarrassing. Thanks for the spoiler tip too, I knew it was a thing but couldn't find a button for it.

The tilting puzzle in the shrine at Haterno Village is so frustrating. I had played the entire game in handheld mode up to that point but I just couldn't do it. Switched to TV mode and was eventually able to complete it. For my main quest I'm suppose to take a picture of an area and go back to the old woman, but I'm not sure where to do it at so I decided to just head north. Ended up in a swamp area. Died twice to lightning before I realized what was causing it. Seeing lightning strike brought back the fear I had of giant tornado's in Wind Waker. I saw it destroy a tree. I stopped once I reached the tower in the area but not before dying from an ice fairy thing as I was trying to climb it.

Yeah, it can. I played with a pro controller most of the time. It's here in the settings ('Change jump button'):

It changes the jump button from X to B, I believe.

That puzzle has an intended cheese solution (flip the whole thing)
I only found one gyro puzzle to be really fucking shitty, had to cheese it too (one where you have to turn a cube around to light a bunch of torches)

This sounds pretty much like me currently, and I was wondering whether it was normal to feel a little uncertain about the game at this point. I guess it's pretty normal and will carry on as hope that it will continue to click with me more and more. I'm currently going back to a couple of areas which I've cleared to notch up a few more shrines to boost up my health a little more and hope that once I'm a little stronger (in health and weaponry/armour) I'll enjoy the game more.

I've just finished this game.

I cried, I smiled, I cried again seeing the credits, then I laughed and cried at the same time. I smiled.

What a beautiful accomplishment for gaming as a whole. A marvelous piece of art. My GOTY. The best game I have ever played.

Thank you, Nintendo. Thank you.

The combat is finally starting to click with me. I'm really enjoying it so far besides it's couple shortcomings I've had so far. Weapon degradation sucks though.

Mushroom Kingdom
So i'm starting my second playthrough since I beat the game during launch (March)

I just got the expansion pass and have started. (Not doing Master mode since there is supposely no rewards for it)

Anyone have any tips about the new DLC? Should I grab any specific armors first? Do the Trials thing as soon as I unlock it? Must have cooked dishes? etc.?

Just beat the dungeon in Zora's Domain. Don't think I did the boss fight right at all. I ended up killing him almost entirely with arrows, using the rest of the shock arrows I had and a lot of normal ones.

Get the
Korok mask
. That's the really useful one IMO. I never used the
Majora's Mask
, since I think it was handled better in the base game, through
the Kilton masks
.

How is the hard mode, I haven't bought the DLC yet.

The enemies are increased in level, and they have wider sight range. There are also enemies on platforms in the air (with chests). Basically, hard mode requires you to use stealth much more, especially early in the game.

If there are things that are widely available, you can always sell some and keep a few. Natural resources respawn after a while.

You should sell gems basically, tons of money to spend on better stuff. You may need a few late game to upgrade gear but they're not too hard to farm.

Only item I'd really advise to hold on to is the courser bee honey, if you want to upgrade items later. I found them really annoying to try and track down in large quantities and wished that I had never sold or used mine in cooking.

Where do I find great fairies? I vaguely remember seeing someone mention there was one nearby but I'm not sure where.
There's one very very close to kakariko
Two other you can spot from towers (one north east, one west)
The last one is well hidden and hinted at by a NPC or two

You can upgrade armor as many times as the number of fairies you found. Finding two should be enough for starters, sets also unlock a special ability when you upgrade all 3 pieces twice (well, most sets, I think one or two have nothing more)

Pretty much. Have the place south with kakariko and Haterno village. Also just got a tower west of Zora's Domain with a lot of of machines that one shot you.

Yeah, what Shugga said. I recommend getting all of the outfits/armour you find in the shops in the settlements, if you haven't already. They have different advantages.

Thanks. Found the one by Kakariko. Not sure what I'm gonna do next.

Picked this up a few weeks after getting my Switch. It's unbelievably good. At first I was a bit nervous about all the changes to the Zelda formula and how it would affect my enjoyment but the game does a good job of being very approachable. I feel free to play how I want. I'm about 30 hours in now, having completed two of the four main dungeons. I made a detour to get the Master Sword (what an incredible moment!) and did the tricky Korok Forest Trials. Think I'm going to head to the north-east part of the map next on my epic tour of Hyrule. Currently going horse-less as I kept missing stuff. Besides, climbing and paragliding is much more fun in this game.

The Master Trials really difficult, and any amount of damage feels so disheartening. (even with thirty hearts) I'm currently on the Middle Trials, and having a lot of difficulty with floor 8. Trying to make my way through the dark is one thing, but doing it with a bunch of enemies, little protection, and extremely limited resources really amps things up. Don't get me wrong, I know that being challenging is the point of the trials, and I appreciate that it extends the life of the game, but good grief! It's gonna drive me insane at this rate, lmao. I don't even want to think about the Final Trials - I'm sure they'll have a Lynel or something in there.

Oh that's so stupid. I'm climbing a mountain that has a tower on it, and right when I'm almost to the top it's starts raining and I slip. Now I'm just sitting here on a ledge waiting for it to stop raining.
