Some are, but keep in mind - imagine you're playing pokemon, and you've got a lvl4 fire pokemon fighting a lvl3 water one. There's a chance you'll get your ass handed to you, and the fight may take a while. Xenoblade is that. A one level difference and a small elemental detail mean a lot.
Although even with that in mind, it's not for everyone for sure!

I'm not watching the stream because I picked up the game and will want to experience it on my own first. But I will say, don't forget damiani likes to test game limits and what you can and can't do. And will dig his heels in from time to time (See Sniperclips). Not sure if that's true in what you saw but something I always consider.
I did pop in this morning to ask his impressions and he said he likes some stuff and other things he doesnt. But the music has been consistently good.

I don't know if he's ignoring it, same as TheDarkKnight I'm playing so I won't watch streams but the game is sometimes brutal. In the starting zone, there's a while when you're playing with only one lvl10is character. You can take on lvl9 ennemies and lose if you're not careful with their element alignments. But one Driver against two enemies, even underleveled? Toast. There are so many things factoring in Xenoblade combat that two fights with the same parameters could last minutes or seconds depending on how you're handling your team, your stuff and how much prep you've done.
There's a gameplay mechanic where you're associating products from a variety of sellers to each character. Depending on the product origin, the product itself and the character, the effects of that pairing might differ, and it's all on a timer. So for exemple if I pair Rex and some sort of pastry item, maybe my characters will take .8% less magic damage for the next 20 minutes, but also my Blade might enjoy pastry so they'll unlock affinity bonuses that will enable them to deal 30% more magic damage etc etc...

The main problem to me looked like battles take WAAAAAAY too long. So If you die, you have to do all that shit over again.
Also, he was not switching blades or doing combo's? Apparently there was a tutorial but the game allowed him to bypass it by just brute forcing the battle in which it teaches you it, so now that snowballed later in the game.
Was watching some cup of jones that I missed and I dont know what happened. can someone fill me in? I hope jones knows that not everyone is in the forums talking shit, some just watch the videos.

Xenoblade is a series that you need to learn the combat. Didn't watch the stream bit if he skipped the tutorial I can see him not using the mechanics. In the original Xenoblade blade I wasn't using the mechanics properly for a bulk of the game and I remember lot of encounters where harder than they needed to be.
